Weeeee.

My recital was on Friday as you know and consequently I have nothing else to do in College! Hooray!
Well I say nothing, I have a few concerts etc, but they mean balls.
Overall I think it went quite well, but the more I think about it the more worried I get about having a crap mark. I guess it's not too long til I have to wait now, scary stuff.

I'm not sure what to do with myself now, it's fun :) Unfortunately the last couple of days have been a bit stressful with Joel breaking his hand and therefore I had to fill in for him in Jen's recital yesterday. Luckily, I knew the piece and it actually went quite well, so there we are.

Time to go and do nothing much....

FRIENDS ONLY

Yes, my journal is now friends only.

Read about me, and if you would like, leave a comment to be added, thanks.

My Life so far...
I was born in a town in the South Wales Valleys some refer to as 'Mordor Tydfil' which is quite appropriate. My family moved to Cardiff when I was about 8 years old and I've been here ever since. I have a musical family and my interest in jazz and classical music was encouraged from an early age. Inevitably I began playing instruments and finally settled on the saxophone. I eventually added the clarinet and flute to my list. During school, I was a geek and was interested in languages, politics, travel and literature and even ended up becoming head girl.

Obviously during this time, I also became interested in drinking and smoking. You may even have called me a binge drinker, but we didn't really know what that was then, but as long as I was home by 1am, my Mum didn't really mind. I also had a healthy interest in the opposite sex, with which I sometimes dabbled.

Then things got serious and I had to make some decisions about my future. I wanted to do so many things, but couldn't really imagine my life without music. It may sound sad, but the pleasure and enjoyment you get from it is amazing. All my best friends are musicians and there was no way I could tear myself away from that. So, I did some auditions and finally settled on my lovely college for a four year BMus course and suddenly I find myself in my fourth year and about 3 months away from graduating! I’ve had some crazy times though.

My first year was, unfortunately, spent in a house with seven other girls. It wasn’t actually as bad as it sounds, but they were the messiest girls ever. Luckily my landlady made a big error with the house so two who were supposed to be in the house had to live in a flat she owned next door and these were Jonny and Jane, who ended up being the first people from college I met and wonderfully good friends. Obviously, my first year was one big drink, I also learnt some hard lessons about money and got into big debt, which I’m still trying to manage.

My second year was also a big drink up. Every Friday for around 7 months we had a party at the house called the ‘Re-creation’ which involved going out and drinking lots of spirits, then returning to the house via Mama’s and drinking and smoking til we passed out. These were immense fun. I also had the best summer of my life in 2004, spending over a week in Italy with my bestest friends doing silly things, getting tanned and enjoying the lovely food and wine. I also spent a week in Berlin, my favourite city, with two dear friends, Drew and Big G which was just brilliant. Jonny and I went to visit Big G then in Camarthan and it was bloody wonderful.

Third year was fun, and I lived in a great house with Jonny, Richie, Drew and Jen. Apart from the latter two having a major falling out, me Jonny and Richie had such a great time and were practically inseperable. I also started doing some work! I’d spent the first two years just getting by on the least I could do, and realized that that was pretty crap, so pulled my finger out and started working harder, putting everything into my quartet which has since enjoyed some success and are now very close friends. It broke my heart leaving that house, but it had to be done.
A few months ago, my parents separated which was really difficult, especially trying to understand why and how. I think I’m getting there now and not feeling so vulnerable and edgy. My wonderful friends have been so good to me in taking my mind off it. I also have more important things to think about.

Now I live with 3 guys, who are just lovely, tall and hairy. I handed in my dissertation in last month and having a well earned rest before hitting the practice for my last recital exam in college. After that, I’m going to have a crazy lazy summer and move to London in September to do a postgrad course in one of the colleges there.

Here’s to the next chapter…
