Posted on Alan MackTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. My electric clock stopped working. Nigel diagnosed the problem and got it working again. He also gave me details of which part to buy on eBay if it failed again. Very impressed with my first visit to share@repair. I will be back again with more testing problems with failed kit!Posted on Ian HendricksTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I absolutely love Share and Repair - Bath. It’s a brilliant community initiative. The concept is simple but genius: you can hire tools and equipment for a reasonable fee, which is perfect for things you only need occasionally. It’s a fantastic way to reduce waste while helping people save money. Even better, they offer repair services for items like irons, coffee machines, and clothing, carried out by skilled and knowledgeable volunteers. I recently had my jeans repaired by the lovely Catherine, who did an absolutely fantastic job with the patch repair and repairing my hems. There’s always a great atmosphere here, and the volunteers are incredibly friendly, helpful, and passionate about what they do. It truly feels like a place that brings the community together. Highly recommended!Posted on Anthony OxleyTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Fantastic service! Brought our old record player in to see if they could bring it back to life!! The team seemed to really enjoy the challenge and I now have a fully working machine. Could not recommend this service more. Great staff, friendly and experienced.Posted on Alice MarshallTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Volunteer Vacancies!
Are you looking for a rewarding volunteering opportunity? We have several exciting roles available at the moment.
🛠️ Saturday Cargo Bike Rider 🛠️
You`ll ride our electric cargo bike within in a three mile radius of our Hub on Lower Bristol Road on Saturday mornings, collecting and delivering items from our Library of Things to our customers. It`s a nice mix of being an integral part of our community, interacting with our customers, and also getting your exercise done at the same time.
🛠️ Thursday Item Carer 🛠️
This one is based in the Share and Repair Hub on Lower Bristol Road on Thursday afternoons, you`ll check and PAT test items as they come back from being borrowed from our Library of Things, to ensure they are ready for the next borrower.
Find more volunteering opportunities on our website, and please get in touch with us at [email protected] if any of these volunteer roles interest you!
Shirley in Hallatrow bought this sewing machine during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Because there were very few sewing machines available at that time, Shirley had to buy one that was far more complicated than she wanted, which meant that she thought it wasn`t working properly and brought it into High Littleton Repair Cafe to be fixed.
Shirley uses the sewing machine for general repairs such as hemming dresses etc, and it seemed to be that over time lint and dust from the materials that were sewn had got caught up in the workings of the machine.
It was fixed by Alexandra who managed to clean it out, and she also showed Shirley how to keep it clean and in good order with the brush and tools included.
If you`re not sure how to use your sewing machine, keep an eye out for our next HOW TO Use Your Sewing Machine Workshops!
This Saturday we`re running a Repair Cafe in High Littleton!
✨ The Scout Hall, High Street, High Littleton, BS39 6JD, from 10am - 1pm
No need to book but please arrive as early as possible to ensure that there is time to work on your repair, we have limited capacity and our volunteers will do their best to help - sometimes we get really busy and we don`t want to have to turn you away.
We look forward to seeing you there!
A few months ago Becky from @bathnescouncil and the team from @s_b_originals came to film us in our now not-so-new home!
This was to put together a film about the impact of the council`s Vacant Unit Action Project, and some of the projects they are working on. They took some film of the daily activities in our Hub and interviewed our CEO Ruth to discuss how the council`s Vacant Unit Action Project helped us settle into our home smoothly.
The Vacant Unit Action Project kindly gave us a grant that helped us move into a previously empty building on the Lower Bristol Road in Bath and make it our own. Their support helped us afford to do some "nice to haves" that we wouldn`t have otherwise been able to afford:
🚲 We bought a bike rack as the majority of our staff and volunteers cycle
👩🎨 Local artist @caroline_scamell_art painted a welcoming mural outside our entrance, making the space seem less like an office
It also enabled our volunteers to create a workshop/utility room out of a small office space, which has enabled us to have an area to work on more dirty repairs and to clean our Library of Things items.
Ruth put it beautifully, saying that the council have helped us “transform an empty office block into a home, brimming with our personality.”
We`re excited that the video has been published! You can see some very professional clips from inside the Share and Repair Hub and watch the interview with Ruth through the link in our bio.
Thanks to the council for all their support!
The Share and Repair Hub will have different opening times over the Easter weekend.
We`ll be closed on Good Friday, but open on Saturday 4th of April with repairs and the Library of Things operating as usual.
Any loans that need to be returned on Friday will be extended free of charge!
We`ll be closed as normal on Sunday and Monday, and back open on Tuesday the 7th of April.
Wishing you all a happy Easter!
