Doors is a mixed OC/panfandom game over on IJ that is looking for some more LotR characters (I'm playing Aragorn there). Members of the Fellowship are highly desired, but any canon characters would be likewise welcomed. They do accept characters from both movie or book verse, or from differing times in the history of Arda.

New RPG: The Second Age

the_second_age is a brand new Tolkien-based RPG set in Eregion, at the time when the Gwaith-i-Mírdain were at the zenith of their power and inhabited a thriving kingdom, one of the last realms of the High Elves east of the Sea, which was eventually ruled by the ring-maker Celebrimbor, last descendant of Fëanor.

We hope to chart the rise and fall of the Mírdain, their work with Sauron in fair form leading up to the creation of the Rings of Power, and the various interconnected relationships, friendships and enmities both, between the Noldor of Eregion and the other Elven, Dwarven and Mortal kingdoms of the time.

So there’s a high school, with teachers, students, principals, dances, drama; pretty much normal and annoying, except for one thing, students are disappearing, slowly, one by one. It’s like they were never here in the first place. And I think it’s strange that no one can say what happened to all those who are disappearing. Out of the entire school, someone knows something, they have to, and from the looks of it they aren’t going to talk anytime soon. It’s an academy school, you know, where your parents send you when they don’t want to see your face anymore; year round. Most of the people here are pretty intelligent, but then you get the occasional idiot that makes you wonder-- how the hell did they pass the entrance exam? You also have a variety of clubs. There’s the chess club, math club, track, basketball, foot ball, tennis, cheerleading, and card tournaments, for those of you that want to sit around and participate in that sort of game. Oh and don't think about trying to leave the campus without a pass from administration. The last guy who tried to pull that was never heard from again. In fact, no one ever talks about him. It’s like everyone’s too afraid to. There’s definitely something going on at this school, but it's as if those who are affected are unable to put their finger on what it is that is exactly amiss.

Peace has permeated the land of Middle Earth since the War of the Ring. The Fourth Age has started anew, the year now 64. King Elessar reigns the Reunited Kingdom with his queen, Arwen Undomiel, at his side. Osgiliath is rebuilt and stands greater than it ever did before - though the world's shining light is that of Minas Tirith, which guides Middle Earth into the future.

But shadows are already forming. Samwise Gamgee is missing, Eomer is dead - his malicious son now King of Rohan - and Legolas and Gimli are nowhere to be found. A great Sickness is spreading across Middle Earth - rumours flying that those who die walk the next day. There is no cure in sight. Aragorn is in the North, forming peace treaties - the Fellowship of years past is torn asunder, now it is up to their children and the children of others to rise up to the task - a new generation to fight for their new world. They may remain in Gondor and at royal court, dealing with the power hungry King Elfwine, or perhaps they will travel to search for a cure to the great Sickness - or, perhaps, the source of it. Perhaps they come from far away, or perhaps they are the last of their kind - no matter what, it is up to them to help Middle Earth return to peace, and to keep the Dark Days from returning. Everyone - everything - is connected.

Game Info: Lost in Camelot is an AU RPS/Celebrity game in which the major characters (all played with a supernatural twist) have been relocated through an evil spell to King Arthur’s Camelot. Seemingly trapped, they must draw on their abilities both individually and as a team to survive the experience and perhaps, someday return to their homes. Along the way, the characters will face quests, challenges and other parts of life at court, becoming knights of the round table (or not), slaying dragons (or not) and generally attempting to stay alive in a place that none of them are familiar with. Medieval Mayhem meets supernatural fantasy rps in a blend inspired by the original whitecity rpg!

Needed characters: We’re looking for celebrity, especially actor pups of all sorts. So far we’ve got a good deal of Lord of the Rings and Robin Hood cast signed up but you aren’t limited to those. We’re also looking for minor knights and ladies of Arthur’s court and are offering some ‘cameo’ roles of larger Arthurian characters to players whom we know we can rely on.

Mist takes place with Third Age characters, but there is no set timeline or structured stories. There are openings for several elves, men, dwarves, hobbits, wizards, etc. If you join Mist, you can start or join into any story lines that appeal to you. World of Shadows

WoS takes place after the Ring War, and only First and Second Age Elves are involved. (We arranged it this way because Mist had the Third Agers). WoS is a structured game, where all the threads build back into a main story. The main story is a mystery. The Valar have to send the elves back on missions to root out evil in Middle Earth. The elves don't always know why they are being sent out, they only know what they are supposed to retrieve. (In one recently completed mission, the elves brought back one of the silmarils; in another, they rescued Thranduil who had been held captive in ME with some of his people). It’s mainly thriller/action/adventure with a touch of romance. We are just starting another round of missions and have openings for several elves (off the top of my head I remember ...Finarfin, Elwing, Earendil, some of Feanor's sons....) Both games are in one location, but they take place on different forums. Both are board-based with no LJ or IM component required. ABOUT THE GAME
Dreaming Spires is a LOTR/Silmarillion AU (Alternate Universe) RPG set in modern Arda. Specifically, today, in Oxford, England, the birthplace of JRR Tolkien himself.

The premise of the game is that Valinor, the Undying Lands of the West, have been destroyed; like Beleriand before it, the earth simply sank into the sea and is no more. You, as a character in the game, do not understand what happened or why; all you know is that you were caught up in the cataclysm, and when it was finally over, you were here, in modern Arda, in the 21st century, finding yourself drawn to the birthplace of Tolkien himself, in Oxford.

CHARACTER OPTIONS
There are four options for player characters in this game.

1) Elf. Following the War of the Ring in the Third Age, the elves all retreated to Valinor, and so when it was destroyed, they found themselves back in Arda but still in their original elven bodies. Because Valinor was not part of Earth, the time between the destruction of Valinor, and the time that is Now, is not always the same for each elf. So therefore some elves may have only just arrived here having recently experienced the destriction of Valinor, while others may have been here for up to 40 years. You can choose how long your Elf has been here and what he'she has been doing to either fit into society, or avoid it.

2) Human, Hobbit, Dwarf. These three races are all mortal, therefore the canon humans, hobbits and dwarves from Tolkien's writing, will all be long-dead. However there's no reasom why their souls may not reincarnate. If you choose one of these Middle Earth races, your character will have been re-born as a human, and will have experienced an ordinary human life from birth up to his/her current age. However, all or most of his/her past-life memories will be intact. See also Option 4: Actors/Celebs.

3) Valar, Maiar, Istari. You may, if you are very persuasive, play one of these powerful races. However, numbers of these will be very limited and their powers will be either very severely curtailed, or non-existant. If you want to play a one of these, contact the Mod and we'll talk about it.

4) Actors/Celebs. There are many actors and celebrities in this world and some of them indeed live in England. However for the purposes of the game if you wish to take a celebrity, it MUST be someone who actually featured in the LOTR movies. This will maintain the focus of the game on the Tolken-verse. (And they must be actually "canon" to the real life of the actor, at least up until the filming of the LOTR films. They MUST have actually starred in the Trilogy. What they did after that, is up to you).

A special note about evil characters: There are limited opportunities for players to take evil characters, eg: Sauron, Saruman, etc. If you wish to take an evil character please contact the mods and we'll discuss it.

Note that while all characters chosen must be canon, and must be unique (ie; only one of each), it is possible for there to be both the character and also the actor that portrayed him in the movies. For instance there may be a Legolas AND an Orlando Bloom, they are not the same person.

RULES
1. The game will be slash and het friendly, and may contain adult themes. We therefore ask that players be 18. However we are not going to check, so provided that you can write and act as though you are an adult, we'll trust that you are one.

2. With that in mind, all posts containing adult material must be FRIENDSLOCKED, so that only community members can see them.

3. All in-game posts will be in the main game community http://dreamingspires.greatestjournal.com/. Gaming may be in the form of either threaded comments, or chatlogs. Either is fine. The character's personal journals can be used in whatever way you wish, they won't be central to the game. Only posts in the community are considered "in-game". Long posts and chatlogs should be behind a lj-cut. Out of character posts should be in the OOC community, please. http://dreamspires-ooc.greatestjournal.com/

4. Players MUST have either a valid email or an AIM (or other messenger) screen-name visible on their characters' profile pages. Players that can't be contacted to plot storylines, are no fun. If you're worried about privacy you can set this to be friends-only, but then please make sure you Friend the other players!

Characters currently in play are: Celebrian, Maeglin, Peregrin Took, Fingolfin, Aragorn/Viggo Mortensen, The Ents, Galadriel, Mahtan and Alasse, Yavanna and Varda, Ecthelion of Gondolin, Maglor, Faramir, Ecthelion of Gondor, Denethor and Orodreth. Characters on hold are: Aredhel, Elrond, Marton Csokas, Glorfindel, Idril, Tuor, Maedhros, Karl Urban. Any other LOTR or Silmarillion characters are fair game and can be requested for play.

You should send and email to Jane at jhfink@sbcglobal.net with an idea for the character that you would like to play. Send in a brief description of how you will situate the character in the Oxford setting and a short sample of your RP writing, no more than one paragraph. You will be notified immediately of your acceptance into the game and how to get started. Note that you can play more than one character and can develop secondary characters as are necessary for the action.

We are a canon game. That is the characters act as they did in canon as much as possible giving the circumstances. Canon for LotR is up to Aragorn's crowing, all characters are at Gondor except for the dead ones which will be coming back at a set time. HP canon is up to the last book published, Half Blood Prince. Naruto canon is up to the the appointed episode/manga chapter on the info page.

WE ARE EVOLVING and waking up the community again.

slashpuppets has been an active and busy communtiy since 2002. With the ebb and flow of fandom, the once bustling Lord of the Rings based role playing community, slowly drew quiet. Because there IS still interest in the community by some of our players, we are going to wake up our sleeping and dust-covered puppets and put out the welcome mat to any new characters and players who may wish to join.

While we were formerly LOTR 'exclusive', we would like to welcome any and all celebrities to the fold. There are guidelines which must be followed in order to join, approval by the mods, but don't let that deter your interest. :-) Please read over the profile page for our community and if you are interested in joining, we'd love to hear from you!

Okay game hasn't started, looking for players who like playing created characters basically. Right now we're looking for players who are allowed as many characters they can play. You can play a canon character but it's hard to play that character with the current timeline.

The plot of the game is:
It's been a couple hundred thousand years since the nuculear winter. The nuclear winter had destroyed everything, nothing was left in its wake. People had survived underground while many did not and it was thousands of years underground living like space age and remainded so. Life began anew for some reason, large trees, forestry as if the world had looked to be an older time... Middle Earth. People went onto the world abandoning their once home underground to various lands.

After a hundred years, kingdoms have been returned... All but Gondor, it has become sieged by the hands of factions who fight for such a power as to reign king, queen, or dictator. But only the person who pulls out the sword can reign that bear a birthmark that mark them the descendent of the high kings of Gondor. Some of these marked adults and teenagers have become such dictators while others... Are being captures and killed to destroy any rivals to the throne. It is a civil war for the crown and people have taken on roles long thought lost... Farmers... Rangers... Seamstresses... Blacksmiths... And the like. So who's side will you take in this gruesome time?

*This storyline takes place several hundred thousand years after 2006.... And at point of 2006 AD, it's been atleast 9000 years since the war of the ring.*

Legolas is the only cannon character that remains.
The seven heirs are claimed already.
We are no longer accepting half elven characters, we already have two of them especially since they were a rarity.
The game is set in movie-verse.
There is going to be some mature content... So 18 years and older only.

lotr_dreams is the longest running RPS/FPS AU LOTR (whew! That's a lot of acronyms!) roleplay game on livejournal, having started in August of 2002. We're the game that's canon, and yet not. We're RPS and FPS. We're reality and AU colliding and careening on a regular basis. And it all makes a strange sense.

In The Dreaming Theatre, LOTR actors can 'shift' into their movie counterparts, and thus live a dual life centered in Wellington, New Zealand. Actors and their fantasy counterparts must come to terms with shifting and learn to live with each other. Middle Earth meets Modern Earth, and those from both worlds form alliances, become lovers, friends, and sometimes enemies.

Many posts in Dreams will be rated NC17, predominantly slash, and some encounters can be of a very intense nature. Please don't apply if you are under-age.

Recently we've had some longtime players retire from the game, and would love to find new playmates. If you're in search of a stable, long-term game, and are willing to write dual characters (an actor and his fantasy counterpart), maybe Dreams is right for you.

If I created a canon rpg much like Fellowship of the Cast or any LOTR cast-only rpg for that matter, would anyone be interested? It seems like most of the really good ones are gone.

That's right, it's another one of those nutty LOTR rpgs. It's not TOTALLY canon-based, mind you. We like to have a bit of fun spilling the porridge and tossing the dwarves. We have been inspired by The Very Secret Diaries, our own wit & humour , as well as other various other LOTR ~~propaganda~~ comical readings.

We're about to begin any day now & we'd love for you to come play with us. Only if you're cool. ^___^

New RPG

I'm absolutely delighted and stunned how much response there's been to my last post and in the posts in my own LJ, and how much interest there's been in a new game, in such a short time. Due to the response in the poll I have opted for a brand new game rather than a sequel to Sinyamar, although on a similar premise - Valinor destroyed, elves and others find themselves somehow in modern Arda. This time it's Oxford, England. The game is called City of Dreaming Spires.

The communities are open for joining now, several characters are reserved or taken already. Click the image link to go to the community info page, everything you need to know is there. I anticipate gaming to begin on or around April 1st.

Okay, well not JUST for ex Sinyamar players, but for anyone who might be interested in participating in either a sequel to Sinyamar, or a new AU/modern game based on a similar premise of Silmarillion/LOTR elves (and other characters) reborn in modern Earth. I'm trying to find out how much interest there might be in something like this before I start officially setting something up, so I would be very grateful if people would take a look at this entry, and vote in my poll. Also if you know any ex-Sinyamar players, to please pass this on to them/pimp the post to your own friendslist etc. I need to be thinking about putting certain characters on hold unless I'm told for sure that the players concerned don't want them.
