Meet Loki, our 2000 Ford Econoline E-250 Extended Passenger Van. We started converting Loki into a camper van almost from the very day we drove it home, and we have tried to document every step along the way.
Loki began life as a transport van in Miami for a church, and then for transportation for Scott’s Sister’s family. We purchased the van from them in 2022, named the van Loki, and promptly ripped out the seats, flooring and sidewall panels.
Our adventures into Vanlife began just as it did with our adventures into buslife with our MCI-9 Greyhound Bus. We stripped the inside of the van to the shell interior and then began converting it from the floor up. We are working on a full history of Loki over on our Loki Build, Repairs, and Maintenance History Page if you want to see each step along the way..
The Ford Econoline E-250
The Ford Econoline series, also known as the Ford E-Series, has been a mainstay in the commercial van market since its introduction in 1961. By the time the 2000 model year rolled around, the Econoline had undergone several redesigns and updates to meet the evolving needs of businesses and individual consumers.
The fourth generation of the Econoline, which includes the 2000 model of Loki, was introduced in 1992 and ran until 2014. This generation was known for its rugged build, reliability, and versatility. The 2000 Ford Econoline E-250 Extended Passenger Van was a part of this generation and was designed to offer a balance between passenger comfort and heavy duty cargo and hauling abilities. Some Photos of Loki
Photography is a big part of what we do here at Shanty Travels, so we like to include photos that are representative of the places we see. Below are some of our favorites for this category.
