i . . . had been waiting around, for a good long while, for brechtian punk cabaret to show up in my life. i wouldn't have been able to put into words what had been missing this whole time. at no point during lilith fair did i think "this place . . . needs more garter belts." and so on.

i'm going to see yard dogs road show on friday, because they were in the establishment tent at rothbury. i'm catching sandra bernhard's "without you i'm nothing" reprise downtown on sunday, which basically amounts to spending the autumn equinox at a jam session with amanda palmer's spiritual godmother. then three days with bread and puppet theater, but they're not the SLIGHTEST bit punk cabaret AT ALL. then world/inferno friendship society in two weeks, because that's where brian viglione took his drumsticks after leaving the sherwood stage.

. . . i'm still in the tent. i haven't left.

through a series of happy accidents, i've become personally invested in the success of this album.

surprisingly, the pics when they're only ten feet away and under full house lighting turned out a lot better than the ones where they're thirty feet away and under a gel.

the brigade parade. the procession met at the corner of pratt & light and walked to ram's head from there.

this . . . is sort of like a thumbnail. you can sort of infer what's been, shall we say, cropped. click if you want to see more; don't if you don't. bear in mind that this is a burlesque act; there's no nudity per se, but it's probably not the sort of thing you want on your desktop if your boss is wandering through the office. (i would also like to point out that this pic was taken from below, which kind of skews the perspective; her legs were pretty much parallel to the floor when this picture was taken.)
