Bravo Monsieur Fugain, Chapeau, Monsieur Fugain!
I went to see Michel Fugain's concert yesterday.
If you could record the first decade of my life he'd be a big part of it. Now close to seventy in white pants and leather jacket he still can't hide the hippy inside, dancing around the podium singing with a voice that has lost nothing to age.
It was curious to see how many lyrics I still knew. I sang along to them long before I learned to speak the language while by now I have forgotten most of my French.
Inspired all I need now is a tent, a car, (preferably a 2CV,) my pocketknive (to open the local wine) and enough change to get me quite some way down the route du soleil.
Anyone?

New series Paradox was as paradoxical as most of Alanis Morissette's song "Isn't it ironic" is ironic...
I gave it a go because of the trailers which promised dilemmas about when to intervene when one knows the future.
There was no dilemma, the question was not even asked. They were just too late.
Blah.
The basic plot device was a bore. They get a few pictures from the future, they tick the boxes identifying what they are and then try to intervene. No detecting, no clues, just:"Oh, this is a road sign"...boring.
The character were a bit characiture without any hint of silliness which might make it bearable. Broody arrogant geeky scientists make great Bond villains but leave them out of the serious series okay? And with Ashes to Ashes in mind and looking at this I start to wonder if all UK female police personnel actualy are self important b*tches...
Hopefully next week they will have a paradox but I'm not going to be around to watch it.

Shirley Bassey is a Goddess. I loved the Imagine documentary, the song and the lady herself. I want that CD, I want her to tour, I want to see her in concert.and my Lord I want to have her body when I'm 72. What a lady!!! She is one of those icons who without me really noticing has always been singing through my life. This documentary was brilliant as it only slightly covered her history but showed her struggling with the music, lyrics and recording techniques she was not used to and succeeding at it.

Don't get me wrong. I like the guy and he makes me hopeful for USA-global relations, something I haven't felt in oh eight years.

But when I read the headline "his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and co-operation between peoples" it translated in my head to "apologising for the last guy". Basically he has not had time to get anything done yet. I hope he will, I'm fairly confident he'll try hard. Should he not get time first and a thank you after the fact?

This raises the question: should you get a Nobel Peace Price for apologising for Bush? Maybe you should!;-) Oh well, there have been weirder winners.

I wonder if tonight he'll be having a drink with Michelle, sigh and say:"It's verý nice, but honestly I'd rather have had the Olympics.";-)
