And an Angel spin-off, and a True Blood spin-off...

November at city_land was dedicated to creating a spin-off for the four shows involved: Buffy, Angel, True Blood, and the Vampire Diaries. There were some mandatory items (description and slogan, promo posters, character bios and pictures) and optional items such as a DVD cover, scene transcripts, episode summaries, a soundtrack or a LJ fan community. Each team was given mandatory characters (4 existing characters + 1 OC) and a location - that's all.

The results are simply amazing, and I just wish I could actually watch the shows. Check out the communities each team created (everything is posted on the comms.)

Team Sunnydale created "Slayer City", starring Giles (yes, he lives!), Xander, Faith, Willow and Blair (their OC, played by Summer Glau).

Team Los Angeles created "Spike City", starring Spike, Oz, Illyria, Harmony, and Dario (their OC, played by Adam Beach).

Team Bon Temps created "New Blood", starring Lafayette, Pam, Maryann Forrester, Stan Davis, and Lamora Vetis (a necromancer, played by Monica Bellucci!)

Team Mystic Falls created "New York Chronicles", starring Alaric Saltzman, Damon Salvatore, Bonnie Bennett, Katherine Pierce, and Cameron Fell (their OC, played by Alexis Denisoff!)

Fans are definitely better than TV execs.

"Say It With 6 Words": the challenge was to write a horror themed story, related either to BtVS, Angel, True Blood or The Vampire Diaries, with only 6 words. Some of the entries:

Frankly, you should join. Why? First, because it would make me happy (and I want that.) And second, because it's a tiny community, pretty laid back and fun. And I'm sure that all of you have watched at least two of the shows :)

Xander the Vampire Slayer

I had to post -here- a picspam for a challenge at vamp_land : the goal was to to cast an existing book, comic, movie, tv-show, with actors of your own choice -and of course related to vampires. I like the cast so much, whether it's Buffy's, Angel's or True Blood's, that I went for something a bit different. A complete gender swap...

So, let me present you...

Xander (Nicholas Brendon) is "The Slayer", the Chosen One, latest in a long line of young boys chosen by fate to battle evil forces. This calling mystically endows him with a limited degree of clairvoyance, usually in the form of prophetic dreams, as well as dramatically increased physical strength, endurance, agility, intuition and ease of healing.

Buffy (Sarah Michelle Gellar) is one of Xander's closest friends who assist him in saving the world against the supernatural events that plague Sunnydale. Your typical girl next door, she struggles towards maturity and earning the respect of others.

Originally a nerdy boy who shared the social isolation Xander suffered after becoming a Slayer, Jonathan (Danny Strong) becomes later a powerful wizzard. He is Xander's best friend through everything that happens.

Jenny (Robia LaMorte) is a Watcher and a member of the Watchers' Council, whose job is to train Slayers. Throughout the series, she becomes a mother-figure to Xander, giving him advice not only on the supernatural world, but on life issues as well.

Spike (James Marsters) is originally the archetypal popular, shallow, mean-spirited student at Sunnydale High. He is tactless, but direct and honest, and he becomes a reluctant ally of the Scooby Gang, even after his relationship with Buffy disintegrates.

Willow (Alyson Hannigan), a vampire, was an infamously cruel killer until she was re-ensouled by a Gipsy curse. After decades of guilt over her past atrocities, she allies herself with Xander and they fall in love.

Darla (Julie Benz) is a vampire who evolves dramatically through the course of the series, ranging from a sarcastic villain to "love's bitch", to Xander's romantic interest in a relationship that grows from lust to a friendship, and eventually to a self-sacrificing warrior, dying as a Champion at the Hellmouth.

Angel (David Boreanaz) is a beautiful young seer who was driven insane by Willow, his sire and later his lover. His insanity continued after he became a vampire, and he wreaked havoc on Europe and Asia for years. Angel is the long-time paramour and sire of Darla, although he becomes disillusioned with her after their year in Sunnydale. He frequently speaks in riddles (relating what the pixies in his head tell him) and watches the stars through the ceiling.

Rupert (Anthony Stewart Head), Xander's father, is an anchor of normality in the Scoobies' lives, even after he learns of Xanders's role in the supernatural.

I wrote a drabble! It's a first (and most probably last) time, and it was supposed to be for a challenge at vamp_land : to write a drabble based on the theme "Trust", and of course vampire related. I was quite happy to have reached the 100 words... and then I realised that the minimum required was 150. Oh well, at least it made me laugh ;)

The vampire foamed...

Foam? Really? Why not peach scented bubbles? He selected the sentence and hit DEL again. The first line was always awful. He'd have to go for the good old stake-and-dust.

The vampire turned to ashes...

That was better. Elegant.

It was like picking a movie. When in doubt, Angel always trusted the classics.

When whichclothes  told me that she had started writing a story that took place in a mental hospital in the 1930s, I nearly salivated. Yep. And then I read it: I almost couldn't stop until I had six banners ready for her.

It's Spike/Xander/Angel, and it goes to very dark places. But if you know her, maybe you won't lose all hope...
