This post serves as a follow-up to our previous announcement on February 7, 2024.

This update is to share the progress we’ve made with the new Secret Express API. Over the past few months, an enterprise grade load balancer has been rigorously tested in private beta by a select group of users. This testing phase has allowed us to build out a hybrid infrastructure that has core physical infrastructure, but can (optionally) auto scale into the cloud when physical infrastructure is maxed out, then scale out of the cloud when the demand goes down - without any human intervention.

What’s Next?
We are currently in the final stages of selecting which networks to run on our hardware in the datacenter, and what to run in the cloud, until then we’ll need to maintain the flexibility of keeping the endpoints in private beta, but when we are done we intend to include a free tier to allow broader access to our API services. Our offerings will now live on hash.supply and not secret.express any longer.

In the meantime, if you are in need of API services or would like more information, feel free to contact us directly at inquiry@hash.supply. We’re happy to discuss any immediate needs or questions you may have. If your use case involves lower usage needs, we encourage you to use one of the other public API endpoints available on secret.

Best regards,
The Secret Express Team

Secret Express: Latest API Update & Future Developments This post serves as a follow-up to our previous announcement on February 7, 2024.

Pause

This update addresses Secret Express’s strategy beyond February 2024, specifically regarding the leadership’s decision to transition Keplr’s API responsibilities to a new service provider, with keplr expenses, services, etc explicity not being our responsiblity as of the end of Feb 2024. Express fully supports this direction and the right of leadership to go in that direction.

Acknowledging that Secret Express has already operated for nearly twice the duration initially funded, and this strategic decision is expected to allow express to extend operations to roughly four times the original period (which was 3 months). This extension is possible because of lower costs for providing next generation equipment and allocating the remaining funding more efficiently.

The pause will coincide with the integration of third-generation (3rd gen) support into the Secret Network, after which Secret Express intends to resume its activities. This pause was planned based on assurances Keplr API needs would be handled by another provider, and travel plans being made to coincide with the communicated take over date.

Updates will be provided should there be any developments necessitating a revision of this plan.

This update addresses Secret Express’s strategy beyond February 2024, specifically regarding the leadership’s decision to transition Keplr’s API responsibilities to a new service provider, with keplr expenses, services, etc explicity not being our responsiblity as of the end of Feb 2024.
Updated Jan 25, 2024 based on discussions with decision makers on Secret Network.

Hello everyone,

Happy holiday season, we have some exciting updates to share regarding the Secret Express API and its future plans. After months of extensive discussions, heated arguments, and careful consideration, it has been decided to implement significant changes, many of which are effective from March 2024, and others will take place sooner. In this blog post, these changes will be outlined to provide clarity on what to expect from Secret Express moving forward.

1. Transition to a For-Profit Model

The most significant change is a transition to a for-profit model. This decision is aimed at ensuring the long-term sustainability of our API services and removing politics from the equation. Unlike before, Secret Express will no longer depend on governance proposals, signals, or other similar mechanisms to maintain and operate the API. Our business model will depend entirely on other revenues and paired with streamlined operating expenses.

2. Costs Incurred

While Secret Express will incur costs, the service will continue without the need for governance proposals, signals, texts, or spends but may pause after Feb 2024 until DCAP support is added to Secret Network.

3. Capacity

Regarding capacity, capacity will be determined based on available hardware capacity and at the sole discretion of Secret Express.

4. Spartan Hardware

As a part of the self sustainable model, relaying and endpoint providing will be explored as the time approaches when native incentives and other essential functionality becomes more commonplace Cosmos SDK-based chains. This is considered an acceptable use of Spartan hardware in the on-chain proposal and or the charter attached to the proposal.

Thank You to the Community

I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to the community for support in bootstrapping some of the hardware behind us as a service provider. This contribution has been instrumental in shaping Secret Express into what it is today, and giving the runway to build battle-tested solutions.

Secret Express Vision for the Future

I’m excited about the future of Secret Express and the possibilities it holds. The goal is to make this solution lean, reliable, and entirely self-sustainable, fulfilling the terms of the Spartan proposal. I aspire to relieve the community of the expenses associated with having to pay further for API solutions, while still providing the best services possible.

If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out; any feedback is welcome.

Thank you,
