From relocating to this beautiful country that is Sweden 🇸🇪 to leaving the band with many ex-colleagues that I can now call friends (that’s a promotion for y’all!), I couldn’t be more grateful for the ride. I learnt a LOT from everyone, and one of the things that I take out of those years is how much I love solving problems and building. That’s what I’m going to do now (stay tuned!). Thank you, Spotify, but mostly Spotifiers, all of you. Too many people to mention here, but some special thanks to Scott, Bárbara, Enrique for being wonderful managers and mentors over the years. Thank you Marie & Christian for the leadership and believing in our projects. I’ll miss y’all, but I’m not going too far, so don’t be strangers 😉 ✌🏻 Adri

After over a decade at Spotify, the time has come for me to move on and begin a new chapter. It’s hard to put into words how much this place has meant to me. I’ve had the privilege of working alongside some of the smartest, kindest, and most driven people I’ve ever met. Together we’ve solved complex problems, built ambitious things, navigated challenges, and shared countless memorable moments along the way. I’m equally grateful to the millions of users who choose Spotify every day, the creators who make the platform worth coming back to, and the artists, podcasters, authors, and partners who bring creativity, perspective, and joy into people’s lives. You have helped make Spotify far more than a technology company. Professionally and personally, Spotify has shaped who I am. For that, I will always be thankful. This fall, after I wrap up at Spotify, I’ll be embarking on a new exciting adventure with another Swedish unicorn. More on that soon. To everyone who has been part of my Spotify story: thank you. 🙏🏾

Now, with our background coding agent 🪿Honk powering these shifts, making even complex code changes across hundreds or even thousands of repos at once has become routine. How routine? In the attached video, you can see Goose Farm: our internal real-time dashboard that shows current activity in Spotify’s Fleet Management system. Each goose represents an active background coding session. As silly as the scene looks, it’s a real picture of effective agents at work. As Niklas says in his talk, “What used to be hundreds of teams doing migrations for their components, taking weeks and weeks or months, now can be done by a single engineer in a few days.” Learn more about how we’re scaling developer experience for more effective teams and agents. A aula contou com a abertura de Jose A. C. VASCO, cuja trajetória reúne importantes contribuições para o avanço da educação financeira no Brasil. Espero que esta seja apenas a primeira de muitas ações que ainda virão.

Luiz Fernando Rodrigues har gillat dettaLuiz Fernando Rodrigues har gillat dettaEm março me afastei da PUC-Rio. Depois de 41 anos. Entrei em 1985, na primeira turma de Engenharia de Computação. Fiz mestrado em Informática, doutorado em Matemática, e nunca mais saí — virei professor, pesquisador, e passei boa parte da vida adulta naqueles corredores. O que mais me orgulha desse período não são os artigos nem os títulos. É o grupo de pesquisa que ajudei a formar. Mestres, doutores, colegas de jornada longa, gente que hoje está espalhada fazendo coisa séria em IA, computação gráfica, otimização, matemática aplicada. Construímos muita coisa boa juntos — e algumas dessas pessoas seguem comigo até hoje. Uma que foi marcante para minha carreira, foi a criação do ExACTa PUC-Rio. Em 2021 fundei a datamint, levando para a indústria pesada o rigor que aprendi na academia. Por quase cinco anos, conciliei os dois mundos. Agora não mais: a datamint pede dedicação total, e a entrada do Tulio Ribeiro como sócio e CEO marca o momento em que essa virada faz sentido. Ele assume o leme da próxima fase; eu sigo na cartografia técnica, agora em tempo integral. À PUC-Rio, ao Departamento de Informática PUC-Rio, ao de Departamento de Matemática da PUC-Rio, e à turma toda que passou por lá comigo — alunos, orientandos, colegas, funcionários — obrigado. 41 anos não cabem num post. O que vem agora é outra coisa. Mas vem da mesma raiz.

Or actually I snuck out the back door a while back to rest, reflect and enjoy some downtime before what comes next! It’s been a journey full of learnings, connections and the chance to work and learn with very talented people that I will miss very much! For all the comradery, learnings and support working though good times and bad I am forever grateful to all of you! I have had the privilege to evolve my leadership at Spotfiy, something I will forever be grateful for, so to pass it forward, here are three learnings from my time as a leader at Spotify; 1. It takes courage to lead; it takes even more courage to lead in the intersection of what is needed and what you believe is right. As a true leader you will make unpopular decisions and make them so people understand why and still feel you care for them, that is a true mark of leadership. Making unpopular decisions is easy, any manager that puts themselves first can do that! Making tough decisions while still caring, that takes courage! 2. To lead under extraordinary circumstances such as redundancies, wars, and conflicts will require that you have a solid leadership stance. People will be very emotional and rightfully so. In these situations, you need to be able to be genuine, confident in how you can support through this ambiguity and meet people where they are and need to go. Not promise things that you don’t have control over, but still be there, to listen, to lead and support. 3. Growing leaders is a responsibility and a gift, a learning opportunity. You are not making people in your image; you are helping them find their true leader voice and stance. They will fail, they will ask you to tell them what to do and your job is to balance coaching and mentoring. This to make sure learning and failure happen in the right environment. No one learns from being set up for failure, nor from just following the checklist. And if you do this right, you will also learn how they are stronger leaders in areas where you are weak. I still don’t know exactly what my next journey will be, it's both exciting and scary, which in the past has led to great things. I know whatever it will be, the learnings up to now will be part of my success going forward! Until I see you next time!

The project was developed with Javascript, Node.js, Elasticsearch and it all fit in a nano aws instance. It was developed with no frameworks on purpose to explore the core of the technologies involved. The page load time is about 280ms.

Patent Crawler System

Web crawler for gather patent information from the Brazilian patent office and consolidate it in a single database.
The Brazilian patent office has an unfriendly interface and the data is not structured. Making the web crawling a desired feature for most of law firms that work with the patent office.
The system was sold to a law firm in January 2017.

VMED Project
–
Web application for monitoring flow computers. Petrobras Oil fields has thousands of flow computers and the system provides a single point for monitoring them in real time. The system keeps the company complied to the Brazilian regulatory agency rules.
Front and back end coding Java/Groovy, Javascript, Spring and MongoDB.
MongoDB and a fine tuned cache strategy dropped the request mean time from 2 seconds to 0.1 seconds.

Development of a web based dashboard for monitoring the company assets in real-time. The system is used in a big screen by the directory board to develop strategies and take actions.

Maintenance and development of software for economic and technical viability study of oil projects. Allowing the net value estimation, risk analysis via montecarlo simulation and post execution analysis.
The tool is widely used in the company for oil related projects study.

A desktop software for calculating the budget needed for the development of an oil field. The software uses the company systems for price estimations and the graphic interface allows easily modeling of an oil field for the analysis of different scenarios regarding their net value.
Worked with Java Swing, Genetic Algorithms, Computer Graphics, HSQLDB and Hibernate
In some scenarios, the tool improved the oil field project net value in an order of ten of millions dollars.

Bioside
–
As an undergraduate student I joined the Bioside project in Brest, France. The project aimed the development of a java swing desktop tool for modeling and execution of bioinformatics algorithms in a distributed platform. It also involved multidisciplinary teams from other research labs, such as Ifremer (French institute for sea research and exploration).
