Bio
Michael sees the movie theater as a place where traditions are subverted–where the status quo gets turned on its head. And this is where his writing sensibilities lie–in taking an established concept or idea and finding a way to turn it into something different. From slasher films where the “sexy” girls are the most competent ones to a rom-com where the meet cute takes place during casting for a snuff film, there’s no trope he’s unwilling to push to its limit. Michael’s written more than a dozen feature films (and produced four of them) as well as written and produced a series of successful shorts. Michael has had several feature scripts both place as finalists and win in festivals and has had multiple short films win awards in recent years, including several that took top honors.

UNIQUE SELLING POINT

This script offers a unique blend of indie music culture, puppetry, and authentic Texas setting to explore grief and artistic collaboration. Unlike typical 'getting the band back together' stories, it uses puppetry as both literal and metaphorical device for processing loss, creating a distinctive visual and emotional language. The specific, lived-in details of Austin's music scene and the genuine portrayal of adult friendship dynamics make it stand out in the indie drama space.

STANDOUT FEATURES

  • Unique Hook: The integration of puppetry as a means of exploring grief and personal expression.
  • Character Development: Kate's journey from isolation to reconnecting with her passion for music and her friends.
  • Setting: The vibrant backdrop of Austin, Texas, which plays a significant role in the characters' experiences.

It's Hard Not to be Romantic About Time Travel

A genre-bending romantic adventure: to clear his name, an ex-con follows an obsessive friend's theory that love (and weed gummies) can move you through time — and discovers that rewriting the past requires facing what you’re willing to lose in the present.

UNIQUE SELLING POINT

This script's unique selling proposition is its emotional approach to time travel—framing it as a power fueled by love, belief, and memory rather than technology. It combines the high-concept appeal of time-travel stories with the grounded emotional journey of a wrongfully convicted man seeking redemption and connection. The blend of buddy comedy, romance, sci-fi adventure, and metaphysical conflict creates a distinctive tone that feels both nostalgic and innovative, appealing to audiences who enjoy character-driven genre stories like 'About Time' or 'The Adam Project' but with a more unconventional, rule-breaking approach.

STANDOUT FEATURES

  • Unique Hook: The integration of time travel with emotional stakes, where characters must confront their pasts to shape their futures.
  • Major Twist: The revelation of Stella's true motivations and her connection to the protagonists, adding depth to the conflict.
  • Innovative Ideas: The use of emotional states as a mechanism for time travel, providing a fresh take on the genre.
