Song biography: Wake Up was created to speak about the daily struggle someone from the hood has to go through. Regardless of your skin color we all struggle; we are forced to make risky decisions in order to survive.

Angela van Son lives in Utrecht, the Netherlands. She writes poems and very short stories about the strangeness of being human. She likes to put a twist on things, whether it’s dark, humorous, philosophic or playful. As a coach she helps people change their life stories by getting things done, facing the rabbit holes of their choice, and working on happy endings.

Jade Li: I am a retired governmental worker who lives in Western Michigan, near the shores of Lake MI. I’ve been blogging at Word Press for a couple of years at www.tao-talk.com writing poetry and flash fiction but also book reviews, movie reviews, and on music. I’m a mother of two grown sons. Besides writing, my hobbies include gardening, landscaping, bicycling, and walking in the wooded dunes in the area.

This issue will not have any genre or thematic restrictions. It will be a general issue; poetry, fiction, non-fiction, reviews, etc. will all be considered. As always, contributors retain copyrights of all accepted pieces. We just ask that any pieces you do submit you still own the rights for (it helps if you let us know if and where a piece has been published previously; preference is on unpublished work, but we’ll consider both!).
