Looking for Artwork Submissions
Scribe Base is currently on the search for artwork submissions for the cover (and possibly background) of two upcoming issues. We may narrow the number of submissions down to 3-5, then have our readers vote on their favorites. First place takes the cover; 2nd and 3rd place will be included in the issue as runner-ups. You must own the copyrights to your submissions. Copyrights will revert back to you after the issue has been published (you’re also free to submit and publish your submission(s) elsewhere before the issue is posted).
- Fragments of Childhood. Deadline: June 1st 2018. We’re looking mainly for something that depicts something fractured and abandoned, like an abandoned playground with a somber tone and palette. Surrealist and experimental art styles are welcome. Note: this is not an exhaustive list of what we’ll consider.
- Unsettling Aesthetic: Beauty Redefined. Deadline: December 1st 2018. For this, consider the art cover of this anthology.
These deadlines will be earlier than the deadline for regular submissions to the aforementioned issues, as this’ll allow some time for our readers to vote. Voting will take place here, and on our social media platforms.

Considering an issue for 2018, blending and blurring the lines of aesthetics and horror, to be called Unsettling Aesthetic: Beauty Redefined.
- This is inspired by the anthology Gutted: Beautiful Horror Stories

Also: what’s everyone currently reading? I’ve been reading Concept of Man in Contemporary China by Munro, and started to read The Spaces Between the Lines by Crowther.
Upcoming Issues
We’re being a bit ambitious with the rest of this year–all of the upcoming issues for the remainder of this year are posted under the Call for Submissions tab. There’s also a special-themed issue with a deadline of next year. We figured we’d post these a bit ahead of time, so as to help give some who would be interested in contributing ample time. We also want to do this to give a clear indication of what’s in store later this year. Around approximately August or September, some more issues for 2018 will be posted.
Two issues have a deadline next month, on the 31st: Tech Horror and Summer.
Deadlines
Deadline for In Empty Space Vol. I and Beyond the Stars Vol. I are coming up soon; March 1st. If interested but may not have a piece in time, I can see about extending the deadline (depends on how many submissions those issues receive; I’m flexible on this).
