Multi Reading

For all the years of reading and vocabulary skills ingrained in my brain cells, I can’t bring myself to read multiple books at the same time. For the longest I didn’t think this was at all doable. But with growing awareness, and increased interactions with fellow readers I realised that a lot of people read multiple books at the same time.

The books could be different genres, conflicting stories or even contrasting plots but they make it through. So this month, I’ve taken up the challenge to read a copy of the Harvard Business Review Communication Skills’ advisory and a mystery plot by James Patterson at the same time.

I prided myself to be good at multi tasking but this is another dimension in that light. I’m still struggling to make my way through.

Until about a month ago, in my reformed state of personal life I was striving to make time for the Kindle, lest it feel less loved. And now, I’ve taken this challenge to see how it feels if I can read contrasting genres simultaneously. Will the brain be able to take it ?

Do you read multiple books at the same time ? How does it work out for you ?

  1. I am terrible at multitasking. But somehow when it comes to books, i kind of enjoy it. So currently i am multireading “Cuckold” and “Illicit happiness of other people”

  2. If I take up the second book, while reading the first, high chances are that I’ll end up ignoring the first. I’ve not succeeded in reading multiple books. Yet.
