I started this page as a way for me to explore more areas of writing that are not related to business endeavors. Below is a selection of writings, musings, thoughts, sorted by topic, that I didn’t add to my blog because they were not date specific.
I think writing is becoming a lost art in our culture today. And while I don’t claim to be a “writer” in a Pulitzer way any more than I claim to be a photographer in the Ansel way, I am a bit of both. I do like to write, and try to write every day. If I am not writing here on my site I am writing in a journal which I have kept now (and am converting all of it to a digital medium) for decades.
Regardless whether the writing you do is perfect or full of grammatical errors, I have found that it becomes priceless as time goes by and memories fade. The best way to start writing is to start reading. A ton. Look for some really high quality writers. As an example, Roger Angell is one of my favorite writers when it comes to topics of baseball. I have a page on reading if you want to see more on some high quality writers. I found reading to be the most difficult of tasks for me. I have to labor at it tremendously, so if you do too, don’t give up, it will help your writing quite a bit just like studying great photographers helps your photography.
I have moved a lot of static note information over to my content hub site. Now have a main notes section devoted to art and personal notes and a daily journal among many other things, a study methods section on devotional topics, and all my portfolios are where my photographic collections are curated going back almost 30 years.
I’m also super proud of my first full photography book, Views of a Stadium, which can be purchased on my website here.
Thank you for supporting the work of a local independent artist (really, thank you!). You can also read more about my gear or my if you so desire.

How to Journal
If you are interested in journaling I would highly recommend the Day One App, it is basically the industry leader and is hands down the very best option out there. I have used it since the beta days. If you want the best approach to journaling, I use markdown files in iaWriter on my iPhone, it’s the cleanest, most distraction free writing available.
