ENCLOSED:

x1 eridan/troll caligula (XXX HOT!! except not)
x1 what the fuck even happened lmfao story

here go.

so i wake up in the morning feeling like something that certainly ain't p. diddy, slither out of my shnuggly warm bed onto the floor in a puddle and ooze over to the shower next door to try and make myself feel like a normal human being again.

i can only have been gone for maybe ten minutes at the most. when i come back, my bed is gone.

like so.

well i guess that my bed isn't exactly gone. the mattress is gone. the bed is still there. i'm still impressed and a little shocked. i'm not even mad, this is just kind of funny. so after my hair drips on the empty bedframe for a few seconds i just go "fuck it" and back in the bathroom to dry off and put on clothes.

i'm not sure where i'm going to sleep tonight. my parents are long gone by this point, but i suppose that there will be time to ask questions later. my first priority is to get to Starbucks, get a fuckin' coffee and try and figure out my schedule for tomorrow.

so i walk outside -- i'm only wearing sandals and a jacket in freezing weather because i'm too lazy for proper foot and outerwear. i am also wearing pants and the rest of my clothes. my sentence did not exactly imply that.

get out in the parking lot and i find this.

"what is that?" you might ask. "i don't see anything!"

well that, ladies and gentleman is not my car. it's empty space occupying where my car is supposed to be. i strongly felt i needed to take a photo just to express exactly how much my car isn't there.

by all accounts, it seems as if my parents were laying in wait for me to get out of my bed, burst into my room -- but quietly, like bed-burglarising bandits or perhaps pallet-pilfering plunderers -- pick up my mattress and speed out of the house probably going "QUICKLY QUICKLY MOVE MOVE MOVE MOVE," throwing my mattress into my car and then tearing off down the road, tires squealing.

oh, and they also took the keys to the other car (the BMW coupe in the far right in that picture.) it was as if they were trying to keep me from following them. or, perhaps, from going to Starbucks. after today i'm not sure i can really fathom them anymore.

or perhaps... i'm just going crazy and i've dreamt all this. i certainly have reason enough to lose my mind -- this week is killing me. this end of semester is killing me. i just want it to be winter break and over and done with so i can do next semester right.

urgh.

i walked to Starbucks three miles in the snow uphill both ways, got some motherfuckin' coffee and went home and worked a little. even though i distinctly remember getting things of consequence accomplished, i somehow managed to do this shit too.

why this needed to exist, i have no clue.

i think this pretty much solidifies my fear i'm going crazy. yeah, i'll just... just... go over here... or something.

/weeps in the horn pile

ALSO HEY, LUCY. LOOK AT THIS.

enclosed are the following:

x1 MSPA sketch (Snowman; unfinished)
x1 art class dickery

the release of the new Felt album got me itching to draw a little sexy va-va-va-black queen Snowman.

halfway through, however, the desire to get my Shaman to level 80 overpowered me and I succumbed. I'll probably come back to this later -- I was experimenting a little with colour and I'm kind of liking what I have so far. all the Dersians are hard to draw... goddamn shiny black carapaces.

today's art class assignment was just a little group dickery -- teacher cut up a print of a painting into pieces and we were each given one without being told what it was and we had to draw our section and see if it fit when we put it all together. this one in particular is Raphael. my two pieces were (inadvertently) next to eachother: left column, fifth and sixth from the top. the pieces surrounding mine all fit together rather nicely so I consider it a success!

favourite parts:
- the shifty-eyed cherub in the top right
- professor stubbornly referring to the cherub penis as a "pee-pee"
- the girl drawing the saint's left knee who originally drew it as a butt
- the woman who drew the right cherub's hand as feathers
- the suddenly EXTREMELY BEEFY forearm on the saint

randomly: Jon 's paid account is officially cancelled. oddly enough, I see that as more final than the actual drop post itself. goodbye, all ye shitty icons... perhaps we shall meet again one day.

in other news: I think I have a date tomorrow? it's lunch with some guy who wants to get to know me better at any rate. it is slightly intimidating, though I'm enthused at the prospect of getting to know someone IRL who likes MSPA.

we met in art class. he was wearing a Green Slime Ghost shirt, I was wearing my Squiddles shirt. clearly we were meant to be friends.

this means going to sleep. like right now! aagh, I need so much more sleep! I need so much more time! there is so much to do for school and papers and drawings and shit and I'm going insane! aaaaaaaagh!

bye.

it isn't so much drawing as doodling though. and wallowing around in the muck trying to figure out how to draw on the computer again. 50% of the time, at least.

these were shitty doodles i did at like four in the morning because i couldn't sleep. they were so shitty that my brain immediately shut down and put me to sleep in self-preservation. then i woke up and tried to colour them on the computer and my brain finally got the program: i was suicidal and clearly trying to break my own sanity.

p.s.: "everything is music" is because secretly i've always thought of feferi as the bjork of the ocean.

then during the actual day at a reasonable hour like a reasonable person drawing trolls, i tried doing a picture completely digitally. so it was a bit of experimentation. this is what happened. there is no real rhyme nor reason to what i draw in these -- i feel like i should attempt a full body some time but i'm too laaaaaazzyyyyyyy.

ZAZZERPAN, BITCHES.

then mom made me go get a pizza for dinner (tangential story: i only get to eat pizza a few times a year because my mom only gets a craving for the stuff like once every few months. i don't feel strongly about pizza one way or the other but i gotta admit after such a long dry spell all that grease and cheese and tomato and crust taste pretty fucking amazing.) i drew this at the pizza place while i waited for it to cook (the pizza, that is, not the picture). it's on the back of my work schedule.

RESPONSIBILITY!

and then i did this just now while i was trying to watch Requiem For A Dream for class. i feel though that, having seen this on repeat like all day, i've had enough of Lux Aeterna. Nic Cage screaming fuckword after fuckword, however?

keep it comin' baby.

goodnight!

ETA: WELL FUCK I forgot to colour in his eyes on the last one. whatevs.

eridan/WoW shenanigans [image heavy]

I AM WEAK.

so obviously (to anyone who knows ANYTHING) the latest patch just came out for WoW which means NEW MAPS, NEW QUESTS, NEW RACE/CLASS COMBOS, NEW EVERYTHING. OUR WORLD AS WE KNOW IT IS GONE FOREVER. SING THE DARK GOSPELS OF DEATHWING AND WATCH AZEROTH BURN.

anyway, so I'm a huge fan of Undead and they just got the option for the Hunter class, so I decided that, in my usual vein of naming characters after latent obsessions and then regretting it later, I'd christen my new Undead hunter Eridan.

except that Eridan's taken by some unknown lowbie who hasn't logged on in forever. that rat bastard. I won't even have my Alliance character in a week or two so I won't even be able to stalk this person in the event that they do log on so I can assassinate them. multiple times. (these are also my feelings about whoever took the name "Crane", because it means I cannot give my Fear-casting Warlock the name so he can be "Professor Crane" with the new title coming out.)

it's okay though. I wanted to name my Mage Eridan more, because I find the thought of him playing a wizard in an online game hilarious.

in fact, I made an alt on another server just so I could do that.

this is my wwarcraft character
hes a highblood and also a wwizard evven though only one of those things is plausible
its just a game though so its ok

anyway, so I created the character (gotta have the purple skin and hair) and logged in with approximately 14721481274 other freshly risen Undead hunters because it was the first fucking day.

Hunters start off with pets instead of getting them at level 10 now (this has been in effect for a while now, but it is still jarring to someone that's attempted to make at least five or six hunters before this) and for Undead, it happens to be a spider.

naturally I had fun with this. something about Eridan having a virtual pet and naming it after a potential lover who scorned him is a little sketchy.

RANDOM SCREENSHOTS!

couldn't resist making the joke. not pictured: the sixty pumpkin pies I cooked for the Thanksgiving event. explain THOSE gourds away, Hussie.

also worth mentioning: in this photo, Vriska the spider is level 8. god fucking damnit.

mutant chickens with dynamite stuck up their butts. eridan could learn a thing or two about destroying land dwellers from this guy.

by this photo, I had replaced Vriska with an awesome stormcrow I picked up from an area about a gajillions levels above me. appropriately enough, I named him Dualscar.

goddamnit Dualscar you've got fucking wings, just fly over the water.

then again, I think that the winged creatures in this game just have a strange attraction to the watery deeps...

enough said.

this quest made me trail beautiful flowers for a while. it's both disturbing to think this in terms of zombified Undead and also Eridan. that cape...

another quest had me leading a pack of orcs. I felt like kind of a badass; these new Silverpine Quests are EXTREMELY awesome. if anyone on my flist plays WoW (doubtful), I say that they are a must.

for the record, that bear corpse in the background? my army of orcs punched it to death. er, well, second death. I think it was a zombie bear.

just felt like taking a dramatic screenshot. without revealing anything TOO big, the new Silverpine quests eventually have you on the front lines in the battle against Gilneas and the Worgen. you really feel like you're in the middle of his huge conflict while running around and checking up on troops. so awesome.

but eventually Silverpine was over and it was off to Tarren Mill once more. ah, Tarren Mill. the site of many a ganking and subsequent revenge-killing in which I'd just waste far more of my time than if I'd just gotten over the corpse run and went back around my business.

the storyline in Hillsbrad is built around some hilariously on-point stereotypes. first dude was a "noobish" character appropriately named Dumass who ran around yelling in all caps and acting like his namesake. the second dude was a level 80 with the Kingslayer title there just to kill low levelled players and hang around.

this was the third dude.

dear sweet jesus. johnny awesome, you killed my soul this day.

Hillsbrad did not last long though because I wanted to hop off to Stonetalon on a friend's recommendation. so many new, revamped zones to check out! and all of them epic and awesome. goddamnit WoW, I was ready to quit you and you just had to throw this on me.

the bear gods must be crazy.

goodnight, I have work in like two hours. I could have slept like five hours ago but I watched the new Homestuck flash update and then... I don't even KNOW what I was doing. whoops.

cheers.

"IT WOULD BE UNWISE MUGGLE" is pretty much the only thing I'll be able to think about when I see Hermione now.

it's a poster for a deal having to do with the movie theatre right next door where they are playing Harry Potter. it looks like Harry Potter -- you might even think that it was Harry Potter by the way that they've put pictures of the characters on the paper with words like "Muggle" and "butterbeer" and stuff -- but upon more diligent inspection it's quite obvious that that is exactly what this poster is not:

what it is is pee-my-pants funny. everything about the Comic Sans to the slightly bewildered look on Ron's face (he's evidently just so perpetually bewildered that he's not even expressing his hopes aloud like the other two, merely content with thinking those thoughts to himself under a vacant stare) to Hermione's strangely-yellow speech bubble -- as if she's speaking in a way or some tone of voice markedly different from the others. judging from the body of the text, I'd say that she's possessed by some sort of wrathful, Muggle-hating demon. or possessed by a particularly miserable strain of stomach flu. I know that I'd want to kill all non-magical people if I was sick.

this poster didn't get me to go to Caliente, but only because I had a movie to get to. of course, it was Harry Potter. I watched for a line about what it would be unwise for Muggles to do, but it didn't come. it's possible that I was too distracted from having to pee the entire two and a half hours the movie lasted, but I think it's more likely that the kids didn't turn into some sort of Mexican food-enthusiast band of ruffians.

in America.

edit: also I'll be going back to steal this sign in a few days. I don't want to go too early or they'll suspect -- a criminal eventually returns to the scene of the crime.

augh you know that headache you get when you've been up for like a million years? it's balls. I have one.

pumpkin scones do not ease my anguish. but maybe an art class dump and random updates will.

Look at this fucking roman bust connection.

i swear if i draw this bust one more time

it's not even at different angles, I somehow end up at the same seat each time and I look up and it's THAT BUST ONCE AGAIN being all impudent and shit. each time I draw it I imagine the slight upturn at the edge of its cold plaster lips to grow slightly more oblique as if the thing's in on some cosmic joke that i'm not privy to. bastard.

and then the motherfucker's just suddenly all DEAL WITH IT!! except it'd be more like TRACTO IS!! which is what the internet informs me "deal with it" is in Latin.

and the internet is never wrong.

so in other (read: old) news, I've picked up a new muse. this is a momentous occasion for me because I pretty much have to focus all my time and attention on one muse only. the nature of my thinking sort of dictates that... obsessive, constant thought about what they'd do, how they'd think, mannerisms, body language, inflection in voice, what they'd order at Starbucks, etc.

it also means that when I find a new character, like I have now, that captures so much of my interest and imagination... inevitably, it's the end of my time with my previous character/love of that series.

it is still too early to tell for Jon -- especially since I'm bringing him back to the main action in SC this month after about half a year of ICly restricted activity -- but I have been thinking less of him. it could be a phase (like, say, the Music Meister was) but I feel as if that'd be unfair to Eridan . I have already put so much thought and work and passion into him before having even really played him, that I don't think this is a phase. he may be the character I stick with for the next year.

but, I shall have to see. I dearly love SC and what I have there with Jon and I am excited to finally be coming back. but now, with this troll nipping at his heels ever so more insistently, I have to wonder how long he'll stay his return. not out of lack of interest, but fear of inability.

and... well. come on. just look at this <s>fuckin hipster</s> guy.

shit happens

a wise man once said "shit happens." así es la vida, c'est la vie, et cetera.

and you know what? shit does happen. sometimes when one least expects it, in the places where one least expects it. but it happens.

I worked the morning shift today. morning, for most people, means "7 o'clock," or more optimistically, "8 o'clock." but on the planet where Starbucks originated, morning means "the ass crack of dawn"-- no, before the ass crack of dawn. 5 AM to be exact. I shit you not, I wished more than one customer a good evening because I was convinced that it was the middle of the night outside.

generally I dread my Sunday shift because it's extra long, extra busy and all the drama seems to happen in the morning. today was particularly crappy because I also filled in for someone last night -- this high school girl wanted to go to Homecoming and, although I didn't go to my own Homecoming and therefore couldn't really empathise, I figured, who was I to keep someone from going and having fun "dancing" with "men" at a "fun party?"

so I was at work until 10 30 last night and then woke up, nestled none too cozily between the buttocks of the ante meridiem a few hours later just to return to work. I wondered why they couldn't just lock me in the bathroom at closing with a sleeping bag so I didn't have to bother leaving and coming back that soon later. I guess they figured I might accidentally poop on the floor or something which is, of course, a ridiculous notion.

Sundays at my store are hard to predict, because it's randomly super slow some days and absolutely swamped the rest. despite this variability, I'd managed to come up with a flowchart to determine what kind of day it was going to be -- all based around whether or not the local "football" (in quotes, because with the way they're performing this season it's hard to say they're playing the same game as everyone else) team, the Redskins, are playing and when as detailed below:

and so as you can see, even with the element of surprise it's generally a simple matter to tell when one is going to be busy.

now, I suppose that waiting in line, one does get impatient. the types of people that visit my Starbucks are typically high-rolling stockbrokers whose idea of a wild time is making a series of high-risk investments in long/short equity hedge funds. they do not shit around. god forbid that they wait up to four minutes to place their order -- so when they get their drink, they're in overdrive. they need to make up for spare time in any way they can.

one man, a real genius of his era I'm sure, apparently had a great solution to this inhumane waste of his time.

instead of going to the bathroom like a normal person, he took a shit on the floor.

I just realised that sounded a little misleading -- no, he didn't shit on the floor. that'd be gross. he shat in privacy on the bathroom floor, not on the lobby floor where everyone could see him. we didn't discover this until god knows how long later. if it was more than a few minutes, we're not sure how we lasted that long without noticing. one simply had to step into the hallway outside the bathroom to immediately sense that something was wrong. it was as if the gates of Hell themselves opened, letting forth an eldritch burst of sulfur and miasma that made any decent creature in its presence wither like a boner after someone talks about the Holocaust during sex.

it was especially horrible because my shift manager, who had just gone on his break and was trying to poop in the toilet like a normal person, discovered this little present waiting for him. I knew something was wrong when he went in cracking a joke and then came back looking like he'd just seen shit on the floor that somebody made. which is exactly what he saw.

I really have to wonder what was going through this person's head as he did the deed. was he dissatisfied with our service? did he think that this was a great way to get back at us? I can only imagine a guy squatting over our floor, rubbing his hands together diabolically, perhaps exclaiming to an unseen audience, "This will really get their goat!" for some reason, I can't not picture this guy looking like Lex Luthor.

or, perhaps, he really couldn't help it. maybe he had Taco Bell for breakfast (maybe he ate the entire restaurant for breakfast). it's possible that he tried to make it but just couldn't, and would rather not have shamefully attempted to hide his "tracks" by trying to wipe it up himself. I find this less likely, because I'm sure I would have noticed the person shuffling out of the store, looking for all the world like a dog who'd... well, who'd just pooped on the carpet. bad man. bad. we've got to start keeping a newspaper behind the counter, for god's sakes.

but, life goes on in Starbucks. it's not like we don't have weird crap (ha) to deal with just making drinks for our "wonderful" customers. here is a drink order I got today, the way it was described to me.

two pumps of mocha in an iced venti cup

five shots of espresso

a grande scoop of ice

and whipped cream on top with, specifically, a flat lid.

she's standing there, watching me make her drink by the way. this is something that I hate for reasons I could wax poetic on in a completely different entry, but not now. so I hand it off to her, and she just gives me a look and tells me that it's supposed to be blended.

okay, you could have told me that while I was making it -- while you were watching me make it-- instead of waiting until I had a line of cups for other customers. blargh. so I remake it, hey no problem, I'm a happy employee see? I blended her drink this time, and started pouring it in, leaving some room for me to put the whipped cream on top -- with the flat lid as she specified. I had some extra left in the blender and so I put it aside.

she stopped me there and told me it was wrong. "typically what will happen," (this is the phrase she used) is that the barista will use the entire blender and put the whipped cream after it's empty. so I explained that there is some extra, and so if I use all of it, then there will be no room for whipped cream. then she informed me, like it was the most obvious thing in the world, that she'd rather have the extra than the whipped cream.

I think that there was an easier way she could have explained this to me, judging from the way the drink looked. something like

two pumps of mocha in an iced venti cup

five shots of espresso

a grande scoop of ice

pour it in the blender

then dump it out and have our Bathroom Shitter do what he does best in it.

and serve.

a story in which I make this face a lot -> BU

so I was sitting there watching a Let's Play of Penumbra: Overture because I really had nothing much better else to do with my evening and I suddenly came over all peckish. it was probably the suspense. Penumbra is a scary game, yo. it's hungry work, watching.

in case you've never played it, playing it -- or more accurately, watching someone play it -- looks a little like this.

take a look at those awesome graphics.

so in any case I decided I wanted a smoothie. it was like 8:30 about then and I know that Coldstone Creamery is awesome and open until like 10:30 on Sundays (making it like the only late-night weekend destination in this hellhole of a suburbia.)

I saddled up and went outside.

whenever I work in the morning, I come back at like noon and always get to gank the awesome spot in the parking lot right next to the apartment. inevitably, though, I leave in the evening to go do some miscellaneous errand, but it's always taken when I come back. I could leave the house at 2 in the morning and I could come back ten minutes later and my nice spot would be taken. it doesn't matter what time of day. it's like my neighbours watch me, jealously, for any signs of me vacating the spot so they can swoop in with their SUVs and claim stake on my territory. you always have to be on guard around here in this driver-eat-driver world.

so I got to Coldstone about ten minutes later and noticed just how crowded it was. there was a small party going on in there -- perhaps a meeting of civilised, erudite scholars discussing their latest poetry reading over some cool well-earned dessert.

lmfao no it was about a dozen high school girls all cheering and screaming at the top of their lungs in between flirting with the workers. you actually believed me about the scholars for a moment, didn't you?

I was kind of getting a headache that didn't have to do with the craving for smoothie. for whatever godforsaken reason, they wanted the guy behind the counter to sing for them. it was like a pack of bimbos got lost on the way to the Girls Gone Wild convention (or, possibly, was under the impression that it was being held in a Coldstone in a suburb.)

it's okay. I'll just get my smoothie and leave and enjoy it in the peace of my own car. windows down, John Lennon playing, a warm breeze blowing through.

in an ironic twist of events, the ice cream store ran out of ice. no smoothies. fabulous.

well okay, could settle for ice cream. it was fine. I just kind of wanted to leave as soon as I could before my eardrums ruptured and fluid started leaking out my ear and down my shirt.

this was actually pretty nice.

so I got back in the car, ate a little ice cream so that it wouldn't drip all over my cupholder top and then took off. then Owl Waltz came on my iPod and no matter how much I enjoy Seabear any other time of day, that shit kind of puts me to sleep at night. so I reached to skip to the next song...

AND I FORGOT TO GET NAPKINS!

I swallowed (ha ha!) my pride eventually and just licked it off my fingers. normally I think it's kind of gross doing that, even when no one's looking, so that's what's up with the reluctance. don't look at me that way, I'll stick your hands in ice cream.

anyway, that was pretty much the last thing that could go wrong; I was like two minutes away from home. I was just gonna go home, go to sleep and sleep in reaaaal nice and late since I didn't have school until Thursday.

and so instead of going to sleep, I did this.

truly, it had the last laugh...

"Halyomorpha halys, the brown marmorated stink bug, or simply the stink bug, is an insect in the family Pentatomidae, and is native to China Mainland. It was accidentally introduced into the United States in 1998. The brown marmorated stink bug is considered to be an agricultural pest.

Higher than normal numbers of stink bugs have been reported in the eastern half of the United States. The following are some of the possible reasons for the dramatic population increase:

Stink bugs typically have four generations per growing season in Asia, and one after transplantation to the US, but an unusually warm and early spring and summer have apparently allowed them to produce two generations in this growing season in regions like Maryland. The extra generation mean that the state is seeing more bugs in more places than in previous seasons. Adults are living longer, depositing eggs longer and maturing more generations to lay even more eggs."

although apparently stinkbugs are a major pest around here, I haven't really noticed them in past years. maybe it's just the extremely urban area I live in, but "agricultural pests" aren't really on my list of things that are... pestering me. because I'm not an agricultural person. the closest thing I have to pests in my home are approximately four spiders living in my bathroom, but they are more chill than anything. we have (had) a little arrangement going -- I don't evict them from my toilet, and they can hang around and catch all the imaginary flies they want.

I say imaginary because they are so shitty at fly-catching that I think I might be starving them by removing the flies myself. I don't have too much sympathy for them, because it's their own damn fault.

anyway, stinkbugs. I was on the way back from the library today after a long morning of not working on the art project I said I'd work on because my brother was visiting (and that, incidentally, is why I am making another entry. apart from the perfectly sound reason that is spamming your flist. YOU MAY ONLY KNOW WHAT GOES ON IN MY UNEVENTFUL LIFE, HA-HA!). as is my fashion, I had the windows rolled down like the gangsta asian white girl I am.

then disaster struck.

keep calm keep calm keep calm keep calm

this story ended with me slapping the bug off my arm with my (new) library card. the little dickhole took wing in mid-soar and went off to go loiter on someone else's arm.

but now my library card smells like bugstink.

an RP story

this one is a story about RP. if you've ever wanted to know what I go through each time I tag, wonder no longer!

so I think that if you're on my flist, you've RPed with me. and if you've RPed with me, you've probably noticed how long it takes me to tag.

it's not that I don't like RPing with people. I love RPing with people, but this is probably like the way that people who go on roller coasters or bungee jumps scream and cry the entire time then get off the ride yelling "I LOVED IIIIITTTT." sort of a hurts-so-good thing. this is because I agonise over every tag. you'd think that for all the grief I give myself over this hobby, I wouldn't get anything out of it. I do eventually, but we should start from the beginning.

1. CONFIDENCE
I spend a lot of time building myself up to tag. for all the energy it requires me, I sort of have to overcompensate -- I wouldn't want to end up burning out halfway through because I ran out of that retard-strength that you get in stressful situations. so basically what happens is I feel like the most badass person on the block who ever pretended they were a fictional character on the internet. YOU WANT SCARECROW? WELL FUCK YEAH I'LL GIVE YOU SCARECROW! this attitude lasts approximately until I open a tab and pull up the tag I need to reply to.

2. PROCRASTINATION
now normal people wouldn't procrastinate until they were at least half-way through something. but hardcore procrastinators, like me, our attention starts waning before we've even had to think about what we were going to write. maybe it's not so much procrastination as overconfidence -- I, after all, just spent a good amount of time convincing myself that I've got a giant metaphorical RP-cock so what's gonna stop me now? plurk? stumbleupon? miscellaneous research sites (don't believe a word of this)? if you answered "nothing," then you are correct. I am a badass motherfucker.

this can only last so long though. once you've cycled through gmail, plurk, facebook, and various webcomics seven or eight times then you start to run out of excuses to procrastinate. that still-open tab sits there guilting you with merely its presence. four hours of shenanigans are enough to prove my point, time to actually knock out the tag, haha right??!

3. FEAR
I've always appreciated the irony of being scared to RP, playing the Scarecrow. it's his intelligence, I think. when playing any intelligent character, I feel the need to make the quality of writing -- not only the voice -- suit the character. I even change my writing "voice" to match different characters: the writing I use for Jon is much more crisp with more varied wording choices then, say, Terezi whose writing is far more whimsical (and with less serious characters, even my third person writing is more in the voice of the respective character.) is that enough boring filler for me to write? okay!

so what it comes down to is that I try to put a lot of thought into my tags. this is why I have no idea where to start -- thinking requires a brain and I don't really have much of one.

4. DIFFUSION
I attempt to diffuse my stress with a little humour. (fun fact: this is how I initially respond to every tag.)

5. SERIOUSING THE FUCK UP
okay that's enough dicking around. my RP partner deserves my utmost respect. they, after all, have consciously chosen to RP with someone like me. either they are a very charitable soul, or they are immensely stupid. in the latter case, they deserve my sympathy, but I guess it all comes out to the same thing: I need to get this tag done.

6. RESEARCH
especially for Jon, I do a lot of outside research. whether it's psychological concepts, chemistry, or tips on how to be a giant dickhole, I've always got text and web references when tagging. now I'd like to mention that I failed AP Chemistry (though that wasn't so much the class material as me being a lazy fuck) and so I always have to wonder what I'm doing playing a genius chemist. I cannot pronounce half the compounds that he talks about.

not to mention that when I do find some information I could use, I always get paranoid that the person I'm playing with just so happens to be a chem major and will call me out for getting something wrong. so this forces me to cross-check my references and make sure that Jon is PERFECT and SCIENTIFICALLY SOUND in his talk of filling the pumpkins at the state fair with magic fear gas.

7. DEPRESSION
it's been at least an hour by now between step 1 and step 7. doubt starts to set in.

8. FAFFJALSKLRUQWINCLK
then rage.

9. COOL-DOWN
I need a bit of time. I guess these things can't be rushed, right? and the important thing is that I've taken a look at the tag and so now I can let it sit in my brain. think about it a little. bounce ideas around. it'll be okay. I just need some time.

10. RECONCILIATION
I attempt to make peace with myself. I can't beat myself up over tagging, I'll never get anything done. and people are waiting for me. I can do this, I've done this in the past! so what do you say, self?

11. RECURRENCE
I make a valiant attempt.

12. BULLSHITTING
at this point, I just need to get something down so I just write whatever the fuck spills out of my head. it's a mental vomit. sloppy writing, grammatical errors abound. I don't proofread my tags at this point; all that matters is just getting something out for someone to respond to, else the vicious cycle turn once more.

13. SUPER-GUILT
I'm convinced that my partner things I'm a dumbass who takes three-plus days to write a tag that isn't even good. who would want to RP with me? I am a failure. I write the worst fictional character on the internet that ever existed. I need to just quit. I should also smash every computer ever so that no one can witness the hideous thing I just shat onto the internet.

some time passes. this cycle repeats, and I start looking back on my old tags to see how I got through.

then I find the tag I just described writing.

14. NOSTALGIA
FUCK YES HOW WAS I SUCH A GREAT WRITER BACK THEN
DOC YOU ARE THE AMAZINGEST.

so I'm interested to know how you guys write tags.

I WILL RUIN YOU

this is a story about driving. people who are sensitive to me calling shitty drivers "dickholes" probably should forget I just used the phrase and not read this.

so nothing really pisses me off more than a crappy driver. like you can get away with being crappy at a lot of things in life, but driving shouldn't be one of them. too many people in my area though, by some strange quirk of evolution, have managed to survive being incredibly crappy drivers. Darwin's theory states that these Neanderthals should have been culled away long ago in the gauntlet that is the Washington area Beltway so as to better mankind, but mistakes do happen I suppose (in a related note, this is probably a good reason for pro-creationists to cite when trying to attack the theory of evolution. sorry, science.)

nowadays I make a commute three days a week to classes about 15 minutes away, except with morning traffic in this area, that ends up meaning 45 minutes. people around here get a little crazy. they think they can cut corners. some corners are alright to cut -- I, for example, take backroads rather than the congested major highway to get as close to my destination as possible before hopping on said highway.

but some corners shouldn't be cut. so I'm sitting at this intersection that'll bring me onto the highway and it looks a little like this.

there's a little space up by the threshold of the actual turn where cars can sit, and then there's an intersection a little further down so that cars coming in from the highwayway may get across to the side residential roads without smashing into a bunch of cars trying to get where they just came out from. the legal thing to do is to leave the intersection open like I so often have to do. I only start moving forward when the light turns green.

which it does.

now I've learned to be a defensive driver. I've driven for nigh on four years now and I have never been in a single accident, dinged my car, crashed into anything, whatever. my brother, by contrast, had at least a few speeding tickets and accidents under his belt so I'm pretty peachy over here. regardless, I'm never really prepared for shit like this.

the light turns green, and then ZOOM in comes this lard-ass SUV, swerving like a college coed driving home from $1-A-Beer Night at Hooters (which I just made up, I've never fucking been to Hooters) and deposits itself in the space I was less than half a second from occupying.

I'll confess now that I did flip him or her the bird.

and might have expressed my dissatisfaction in more eloquent ways.

and I'm sure you know that with lights intersecting any major highway, even if there's a queue lined up a mile long, that light is only going to last for maybe four seconds before laughing and turning red again.

and it does so. but there's no way I'm letting this dickhole make me late for class, so I run the yellow light which is a skill that everyone around here learns in the womb. fire may or may not have erupted from my tires. the acrid smell of burning rubber may or may not still linger around the scorch marks. there may or may not be a monument of me being erected at that spot right now where former Evil Knievel followers flock to, tears spilling out of their eyes, like it was some sort of reckless driver Mecca.

this person has made me mildly peeved.

but there's not really much I can do -- my turn to get to the class is maybe a couple hundred yards down the highway and in the end, it's not really worth it to be a petty, passive-aggressive person. I am the human being (I cannot say "better human being" because that would imply that the amoeba driving the other car was as developed as a human.) I'm just going to get in the right lane, it'll get in its middle lane and maybe I'll resist the urge to ram it from the side over the median and into oncoming traffic.

then this happens.

okay, fuck being the better man, I'm taking my chanceSKREEEE

and that is why Doc is a superhero.

WELCOME TO THE PARTY MOTHERFUCKERS

my squiddles shirt finally arrived! In my dream, I am the Rose. It is me.

it fits nicely! and this is a more effective way of showing off my MSPA nerdery than the Terezi "Libra" shirt I made which gets more questions/comments like, "oh, I'm a Libra too!!" and then I have to pretend to also be a Libra just so I don't have to explain.

it is so hard being me.

TopatoCo is pretty awesome, actually! their "additional comments" field in my order had a blurb like, "questions, comments, jokes go here," and so I did leave a joke and I got this back with my shirt.

considering they service all my favourite webcomics, I'll need to order from them again sometime in the future...

nothing much else today. I picked up all the current issues of the First Wave Spirit/Batman/Doc Savage series because I forgot it existed. too focused on the Spirit First Wave, I guess. I have a lot of stuff to read. ;;

drew butts and <s>skulls</s> boobs today in the style of Chuck Close who did a series of portraits using a fingerprint stipple-like technique.

(this is the closest I will get to touching boobs with my fingers.)

worked with black oils. tough, because once you make a mark, you can't make it any lighter! there are definitely some slip ups, but overall it's kind of a cool effect.

the western wind is blowing fair

went out to the mall and stuff today. there really is nothing to do around here, lmfao. so we just trolled the halloween store a little, and I gorged myself on Milanos and I have that song from the movie version of The Importance of Being Earnest stuck in my head.

it's worth mentioning that while at the mall, I saw the most bizarre backpack ever.

good god what is this thing. I guess that it's supposed to be Batman's chest... that you sling on your back... for whatever godforsaken reason. my friend suggested that you wear it on your front like you used to do as a kid sometimes, but there's a reason that nobody does that once they're above like seven years old: it looks mega dumb.

it's at least four times more awesome if, like me, you think of it this way: you are such a badass motherfucka of an elementary schooler, that you beat up Batman and ripped his limbs off and used his torso as a backpack. just because you could. yep, going with that one.

an uneventful day otherwise. no drawing, just got cleaning done... and stared at tags... whoops!

except I did get a top hat at the halloween store. (why? just because I could.)

gotta say, it looks pretty damn good on Shinx.

<lj-embed id="4" />
(you didn't think I'd let you go without posting the earworm, did you? hah! okay, I'm done now.)

i have Milanos, a dozen orange glowsticks, and a copy of Halloween II. this is a recipe for a party.

okay, it was more like the results of a random trip to Wal-Mart because it's the only thing fucking open at night around here. suburbia sucks man. I don't want to go to a nightclub or a bar and they're in DC anyway. and there are no good movies out (and my friends don't want to see either Wall Street or The Social Network with me, A BLOO BLOO BLOO...)

the glowsticks are actually for an Arkham Asylum!Scarecrow needle glove that I'll be constructing sometime whenever.
more (art class) drawing (exercises)! and also a music vid (sorta) because it's been stuck in my head for like a wwwwwweek now.

this is an older one -- my first try with charcoal. this is actually the same head that's in the picture in my last post, but just at a very very slightly different angle and also drawn worse. it was interesting because we started off this class drawing light areas on dark paper rather than building up a drawing the way you normally would. now that I try it, I actually like it better than drawing the other way around...

also an older one -- the famous "butts and skulls" pic. same class where I asked the professor if it's somebody's job to make all the weird random crap that he has us draw (like that odd abstract sculpture in the bottom left.) this was my very first foray into conte crayons -- which I said I hate -- but the white on black paper is marginally more bearable than the black conte crayon on normal paper. it's just so hard to get a very light line with the black crayon. \:

working on perspective in recent classes, which means boxes. LOTS of boxes. so here is a lot of boxes and paper bags. kinda wish that I had a better way of taking a photo of this because even though I tried a bit of colour correction and darkening in Photoshop, you miss out on a lot of the really delicate shading I have on the items... aah well, c'est la vie.

my sick is finally sort of going away, now it's just replaced with the general malaise that four days of constant rain brings. don't get me wrong, I love rain, but it's just gross and humid and makes my hair go every which way and I can't really enjoy it like I want to. not to mention it's a bitch of a walk from the parking lot to class...

oh right, music!

<lj-embed id="3" />
Birds of Prey BATB episode coming up... those lucky Australians get it before us, for whatever reason. how they got any of these lyrics past the censors is beyond me.

Getting into Wakfu and dumping the download links for anyone interested!

Wakfu is a 2008 French cartoon set within the world of an MMORPG of the same name, which is set 1000 years after the production company's other MMO, Dofus. The series follows a group of adventurers aiding The Hero, Yugo, in his search to find his true family. Together, they battle their way through various dangers, all the while being chased by Nox, a time-manipulating mad-man powered by the energy of all living creatures (the wakfu), which he harvests through swarms of parasitic, robotic bugs. The whole show is completely kid-friendly, since the target audience is 8-10 years old, but tons of jokes are aimed directly at older audiences and fans of the game, and the plot itself matures enormously.

UPDATED (09/29/10): Just cross-posted to my new journal. Content is otherwise the same, just working on getting some downloads for Mini-Wakfu, the cute superdeformed shorts at the end of most of the episodes. Most of these, if not all, do not even have subs (they're pretty easy to understand even without them though.) Also, season 2 is in the works and due February -- be on the lookout for new models and art being released! (I know older Evangelyne is floating around now...)
I also fixed nearly all (episode 21, "Igôle" is the only one not up there due to "infringement?") the stream links -- but keep in mind that Megavideo still has that dumb watching limit.

UPDATED (07/13/10): Added links to the softsubs for 24-26 also in high quality. The streams won't reflect the quality that the giant filesize should make clear. Still no answer on why some streams won't work! You may just have to download those (you can only get through like three episodes before MegaVideo hits your viewing limit anyway, so you might be forced to get used to downloading to satiate your hunger for Wakfu. If you're that hungry for Wakfu, remember -- don't start harvesting energy off living beings, especially if you have a family you want to go back in time to save!)

UPDATED (Whenever?): Found out an addition to the URLs that will stream the episode from MegaVideo instead. Most, if not all the episodes should work this way (last time I checked, ep. 5 and the Nox special were having problems.) I'll work on a way to fix the ones that don't.

1 The Child Of The Mist (STREAM)
<a target='_blank' Other people will tell you otherwise, but I think that those are the best times to get the full impact of the episode in relation to the characters you've seen/will see!

not really sure what I'm going to use this journal for yet, but I do want to start keeping a regular record of... stuff... any stuff. because some regularity in my life will probably keep me sane!

for now, I'll probably just use this as an art blog since I do want to get back into drawing. and maybe finally taking an art class for the first time in my life will help that along...

so idk, /POSTS STUFF??

it's butts and skulls class, and here are my skulls (except singular "skull"...) this is the first time I got to draw a skeleton, and let me tell you now that even the fake broken-ass replica skeletons are still the chillest models anyone could ask for. not that anyone's ever modelled for me before. but this guy was so chillax, it made me shed a tear -- caught swiftly on my arm lest it land on the newsprint pad.

first time using conte crayons... urgh man they are hard! and the point of the exercise here was that the paper was supposed to be the grey middle tone between black and white conte crayons -- except EVERY SINGLE ART STORE IN THE AREA has been sold out of grey paper for weeks now. ridiculous, man! so I had to buy this blue-ish grey paper and it didn't work out amazingly well, but...

I think eventually I'll start drawing on my own again besides just for class and maybe even plan a comic or something! again, structure in my life. ): wonder what the story should be about...
