Gellar Signs On For Buffy Movie

Source: http://blogcritics.org/archives/2005/04/01/134904.php

A spokesman for Sarah Michelle Gellar revealed this morning on SN News that the actress had at last agreed to star in a movie based on the popular television series Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Former cast members Alyson Hannigan, Nicholas Brendan, and Anthony Stewart Head have already signed on. Filming is anticipated to begin this fall, and will unfortunately trump creator Joss Whedon's current project, a remake of Wonder Woman.

In an interview with SN News, Whedon revealed that David Boreanaz will not be returning to the role of 'Angel' in the film, due to the fact that "no one really liked him anyway." Additionally, rumor has it that James Marsters is slated to appear in a dream sequence in the film; fans will note that dead characters often made later appearances in the show, and the movie will be no different. Marsters's character, the vampire Spike, died in the series finale.

There is no word yet on a potential release date, though we have learned that the script has been finalized for some time. Whedon was simply waiting for Gellar to determine whether or not she wanted to reprise a role she played for such a large part of her career.

* Yep, April Fools. Jerks. *

New hope for an Angel resurrection

New hope for an Angel resurrection
Posted on Thr, 27-Jan-2005
http://www.moviehole.net/news/4934.html

When WB prematurely axed vampiric fave "Angel", the last hope for our lawyerly lot seemed to lie with a series of telemovies. Though there was a lot of interest initially, there's been little mention of them in the last few months though.

TV Guide checked in with WB president David Janollari to see if there's still any chance for a WB return to the Whedonverse.

"[Boreanaz] has a lot of other things going on", tells the suit, when quizzed about the proposed films.

OK, but what about a Spike telemovie? that was mooted too, was it not? "I've never thought of that," he says, "I had not thought about it. We always thought Angel would be the character the audience would want to come back to see. We may give some thought to the Spike movie. That's interesting."

Persistence is the key James Marsters.

Joss Whedon Talks Buffyverse Movies

Joss Whedon Talks Buffyverse Movies
From Fred Topel,
http://actionadventure.about.com/od/news/a/aa081104.htm

Possible TV movies for Buffy and Angel

As the fall TV season gears up, Buffy and Angel fans await news of TV movies based on their beloved series. Even Joss Whedon hasn’t heard anything official, but rest assured he would be able to produce movies in the “Buffyverse” even if Sarah Michelle Gellar and David Boreanaz would not return.

“I haven’t really heard anything,” Whedon said. “Obviously, there’s been a regime change at WB. The fans are interested, I’m interested. I don't think either Sarah or David would want to do it but there’s about 10 other character I can name who would be totally worthy of movies. I’m just waiting for somebody to say yay or nay.”

Whedon could not commit to writing or directing such a project, but said, “I would certainly be involved.

I would never let one of those stories be told without overseeing it.”
The long-rumored Buffy animated series may still have life too. “A presentation is being made. It hasn’t been bought anywhere, but it’s still in the creating stages so it’s still a possibility.”

Whedon wants out of TV

Whedon wants out of TV
Scribe wends his way out of deal at 20th TV

By MICHAEL SCHNEIDER

"Buffy the Vampire Slayer" creator Joss Whedon is done with TV -- for now. Twentieth Century Fox TV has approved Whedon's request to halt his overall deal at the studio, effectively shuttering his Mutant Enemy production shingle.

Besides wanting to focus on his feature career, Whedon said he decided to take a break from TV because, quite simply, he had run out of series ideas.

"I spent a lot of time trying to think what my next series would be," Whedon said. "I couldn't think of anything. When that happens, it generally means something is just not working. I didn't feel like I could come up with anything that the networks would want."

Whedon had a little over a year left on his overall pact with 20th Century Fox TV. Under terms of his departure, the scribe can't work on TV projects anywhere else. And if Whedon decides to return to TV, 20th gets first dibs.

"It would be a lie to say that I'm not disappointed, because I will miss working with Joss," said 20th Century Fox TV prexy Dana Walden.

"Hopefully, sooner rather than later, he'll have an inspired TV idea that he can't help himself from doing. ... We're just glad that when he decides to do TV again, it will be with us."

The departure doesn't affect Whedon's film career; the scribe is not set up anywhere on the feature side.

Whedon currently is writing and directing the feature "Serenity," based on his short-lived Fox skein "Firefly." He also has an animated TV version of "Buffy" in the works; that project will continue to be developed.

Mutant Enemy is expected to close shop as soon as this week; departing are the label's handful of staffers, including company president Chris Buchanan, who's been with Mutant Enemy since 2002 and is exec producing "Serenity."

"My career has always gone through phases of swelling and shrinking," Whedon said. "It's just a different phase, but this is hopefully not the end of my TV career. There are a lot of people I won't be working with that I will miss."

Mutant Enemy will continue with Whedon as the sole proprietor.

Whedon's decision caught some insiders off-guard. Given 20th's tremendous success with "Buffy" and its spinoff, "Angel," Whedon has more than earned his keep at the studio. So it's conceivable he could have finished out his deal at 20th without developing anything new -- and without anyone at the studio minding.

But Whedon dismissed that idea.

"It's possible, but I'm not interested in taking money that I don't earn," he said. "And I found out from 'Firefly' that I'm not the kind of producer who can throw something up on the wall every year and see if it sticks."

Whedon said his decision also was helped by personal matters: His second child is due to be born shortly. And, Whedon admits, he's discouraged by TV's reality boom.

"I have a bitter taste in my mouth with where TV has gone in the past five years," said Whedon, who called TV's reality trend "loathsome."

Whedon got his start on laffers like "Roseanne" and "Parenthood" before turning his attention to features. Scribe's credits include "Speed" and "Toy Story," as well as the original film version of "Buffy."

"When we did the pilot of 'Buffy,' Joss' agent told us he'd be with the show for the first 13 episodes and then go back to his feature career," Walden said. "Given that we're hundreds of episodes of TV shows later, he's finally turning back to features. It would be unfair of me not to understand."

Original URL: http://www.variety.com/article/VR1117912408?categoryid=14&cs=1

The WB Wants More ‘Angel’

The WB Wants More ‘Angel’

Author: Alan Stanley Blair
Date: 10-21-2004
Source: Cinescape
Last season he was staked by The WB network. But according to a Cinescape insider, it now appears as if the network may be reconsidering bringing "Angel" back.

"Angel," the supernatural drama series which began as a spinoff of the smash-hit "Buffy The Vampire Slayer," lasted five seasons on the Frog network, and provided action-packed thrills, giggles and the occasional apocalypse.

At the point of cancellation, however, The WB announced that they were interested in continuing the story through a series of television movies, none of which have ever been developed. Reports now suggest that the problem might not be with the network, but rather, with Angel himself.

Show star David Boreanaz has consistently said he is eager to move away from the series, both to launch a movie career and to spend more time with his family. So fans who thought the story ended there, better think again.

Cinescape’s source says that The WB is still pushing the resurrection of the series in one form or another. Apparently, The WB network chairman Garth Ancier has spoken with series co-creator Joss Whedon about doing something with "Angel." That "something" could be television movies, a miniseries or even a complete sixth season.

But before fans get too excited, there is a small catch. The insider explains that everyone in the show's cast and crew have moved on to other projects. James Marsters (Spike) has been involved in a short stint on "The Mountain," impressing writers of the series, and will most likely return to the series in a more frequent basis. Similarly, Amy Acker (Fred/Illyria) and Charisma Carpenter (Cordelia) are in the running to be the next Lois Lane in the new "Superman" movie. And David Boreanaz himself has several movie roles lined up.

What does this mean for the show? Well, the news that Acker is too busy to return for a single "Angel" project disproves the rumours of an Illyria spinoff which started with the official magazine.

"Yes, there will be more ‘Angel’ - just hard to say when," the source said. "If Amy gets ‘Superman’ - she's out, if James stays on ‘The Mountain’ - that'll be a juggle, and if David Boreanaz gets any more anti-‘Angel,’ they'll have to recast."

So in an ironic twist, the network which deemed “Angel” not suitable for television, is now desperate for more, and the cast and crew have gone on to greener pastures.

Original source: http://www.syfyportal.com/article.php?id=1544

Free to a good home...

Hi all,

I'm looking for a qualifed web designer/developer that would be interested in taking over www.savingangel.org.

I'll help transfer the site to the host of your choice, or you can continue with the current host. The current host is paid through 10/8/2004 but I'll be also happy to extend that for a few months if it would help.

Note: if you want to put the site on a new host, which I'd recommend, then I suggest that you make sure that hosting package you choose allows at least 40GB bandwidth traffic per month. It's dropped considerably since we've taken the vids down and averages less than 10GB bandwidth a month now, but I wouldn't want you suprised by big bandwidth overage charges should you need to host vids in the future.

The site isn't currently being updated, so there's next to no work right now. I don't have any idea what the future strategy will be though - so best I can say is that the future work involved depends on the strategies of the Saving Angel team.

Currently the style is primarily static HTML, there's a couple of CSS files and some javascript for the rollovers, but it's pretty simple stuff as far as sites go.

I do want to make sure that the site is in good hands, so I'd like to know a little bit about you and your web experience, including URLs for the sites you've designed, developed and/or maintained. You can post that here (I'm screening replies, so the info is confidential) or email me directly at my gia at everysixseconds.com email.

I will say that I believe that the web site is very important to the efforts of the Saving Angel, so this is a job in which you can really add a lot of value to the team.

Ideally I want to find a new owner and get the site transferred by 11/8.

If you have any questions, please feel free to email me.

Thanks,

Gia

Chris Buchanan from ME at the Bronze Beta

Hi, Chris Buchanan here from Mutant Enemy. Long time lurker, first time poster.

Thought it was about time (OK, it's way past time), to give all of the ANGEL fans an enormous shout out/thank you directly from Joss and all of us at Mutant Enemy.

Your kind words, support and efforts (flowers, beanie babies, postcards, mobile billboards, adverts, etc., etc.) in the weeks since the cancellation of ANGEL was announced, have been darn near overwhelming. We really, really appreciate the love.

It goes without saying here at the Bronze Beta, but I also wanted to let you all know that the Buffy/Angel-verse will never die.

While we consider the possibility of Season 6 of ANGEL as remote as the discovery of WMDs in Iraq, Mutant Enemy already has plans for more tales from the world of ANGEL. I can't comment on exactly what form they'll take, but rest assured, it's in the works.

Thanks again to all of the fans, the "Save Angel" organizations, and your efforts taken in our behalf.

You kids are the best!

Saving Angel Campaign Announces Los Angeles Rally

Saving Angel to hold Viewer Rally at The WB Ranch on Wednesday, March 31, 2004.

Burbank, CA (PRWEB) March 25, 2004 -- On Wednesday, March 31, 2004, dedicated viewers of The WB television program Angel will gather at the Warner Brothers production ranch in Burbank, California to show support for the series and protest its untimely cancellation.

The rally is the latest step in a campaign orchestrated by Saving Angel (www.savingangel.org and www.savingangel.com ), the coalition of Angel viewers who have come together in hopes of keeping the show on the air. SavingAngel has collected over $30,000 from devotees around the world, funding an unprecedented series of measures which have garnered national media attention.

“We had hoped that we would touch a nerve in the viewing public, but never expected the response to be so huge, nor the media coverage to be so encompassing.” said Lisa Rowe, Saving Angel Media Liaison. “I believe that it sends a signal to the powers that be in TV that viewers really do have a desire to watch good scripted shows, and are speaking up about it.”

So far, the campaign has included thousands of postcards and emails to network and media targets on a changing schedule, full-page ads in Variety and Hollywood Reporter, and a mobile billboard driving through the streets of Los Angeles (photos attached). The campaign has emphasized its desire to see quality scripted TV programming remain on the air.

Rally details:
Date: Wednesday, March 31 2004
Location: The WB Ranch
3701 W. Oak Street
Burbank, California 91505
(map attached)

Time: 3 pm – 7 pm PST

For more details, including a map and directions to the rally, please see our website at: www.savingangel.org/rally

(apologies to all for the lateness of the update)

We have raised enough money to purchase chocolate bars with our slogan to send to television executives and media targets!

We've raised enough money for the extra week of the billboard truck. This is gaining us media attention from all over. You may have seen articles in the Hollywood Reporter, CNN, Yahoo! News, and more recently the New York Post. We're getting more media attention than we thought possible, and it's all thanks to YOU.

We've also raised enough money for the organization and publicizing of the SAVING ANGEL RALLY which is going to be held WEDNESDAY, MARCH 31st at the WB ranch.
Campaign Update!

Donations Reopened!
$3,000 needed for a campaign
you can really sink your teeth into!

New Goal: Purchase 2,000 full-sized Hershey candy bars, wrapped in our inimitable "We'll Follow Angel to Hell... Or Another Network" logo.

Cost: Estimated $3,000 to purchase 2,000 chocolate bars in our campaign wrapper and pay for shipping costs.

Status: Collections just starting.
Targets: We want to send some to the cast and crew of ANGEL to show our appreciation and support. Candy bars will also be sent to various executives at Warner Brothers, FOX, TNT and to about 20 media targets such as Kristen at E! Online, TV GAL, and the Ryan Seacrest Show (our truck will be parked in view of the studio during taping for the next two weeks.)

We are starting this campaign from scratch. The previous donations were made in the expectation that after we accomplished the goals we set forth, we'd donate anything left to charity. Having met the specified goals, we are donating the remaining $276, perhaps a little more, to the ICRC as we promised. This is a new campaign with a new target and purpose. But, be aware that the targets may grow, and additional campaigns may be mounted. Once we've paid for the chocolate, if we believe there are additional things we can do to keep fan efforts to save the show in the public (and therefore the network's) eye, we will channel resources to those campaigns. Don't contribute if you're not comfortable with that. As before, anything contributed over the amount needed to fund whatever campaigns we end up mounting will be donated to the ICRC. As always, an initial estimate, and then a full accounting of each dollar spent once completed, will be published on our website.

We have to keep the pressure on! The ad campaigns aren't the only thing that will make a difference. We're heartened to see that WB affiliates are supporting and publicizing fan efforts to fight for the show. That isn't exactly unprecedented, but it is unusual enough to give us hope. This is where individual efforts can make a big difference. It is more important than ever to check out the postcard campaign page here.

Campaign Update!

Our Accomplishments So Far

Thanks to the generosity and support of ANGEL fans worldwide, we have raised $17,424.22! This has allowed us to accomplish all of our initial goals:

* Ad placed in the March 9th issue of The Hollywood Reporter

* Ad placed in the March 15th issue of Variety

* 2 week Guerrilla Billboards campaign to run Monday, March 15 - Friday, March 26. Click here to see the draft billboard.

Note: For additional details on the individual campaigns, please see our Donations page. Images of the actual ads will be posted shortly.

How You Can Help To SAVE ANGEL
(updated March 8, 2004)

POSTCARDS!

The coming weeks are CRITICAL. We need to be heard in a big way. We need to send a strong message via a flood of post cards.

These are our current targets:

Time Warner, Inc
Jeffrey L. Bewkes
Chairman, Entertainment and Networks
Time Warner, Inc.
75 Rockefeller Plaza
New York, NY 10019-6990
USA

Sinclair Broadcast Group, Inc.
David D. Smith, President & CEO
SINCLAIR BROADCAST GROUP
2000 WEST 41ST ST
BALTIMORE, MD 21211-1420

Time Warner, Inc. holds 66% of the stock of The WB, and so we picked our new target for a post card avalanche from among the Time Warner brass.

We chose Mr. Bewkes because his position is higher than Jordan Levin's (head of The WB) in the corporation, so he has power over Levin, and because he is part of the upper corporate structure, working in the division where the stock is held. Any way you slice it, having Mr. Bewkes aware of our efforts and commitment to save ANGEL, is a great thing.

We've selected Mr. Smith, the president of Sinclair Broadcasting Group, to provide their 19 WB affiliates with the fan support they asked for, if and when they decide to voice their dissatisfaction with the loss of ANGEL.

Send as many cards as possible to both targets!

For easy options and downloadable postcards, visit the SavingAngel.org download page.

Send Flowers! In support of the idea proposed by RRB9HI at the WB Angel Posting Board we ask that you send a flower arrangement to Jordan Levin on Wednesday, March 10, with a sympathy card on the loss of ANGEL and ANGEL's viewers. It doesn't have to be extravagant; there are arrangements available for under $30. (see my previous post for links to online florists)

Send your flowers to:

Warner Brothers Network
Attn: Jordan Levin, CEO
4000 Warner Blvd, Bld 34R
Burbank, CA 91522
1-818-977-5000
(phone number needed for orders)

If you place an order, let the Flowers for Levin Campaign folks know with an email so they can keep track of how many arrangements are being sent.

Call in! Let your local WB affiliate know - politely please - that you aren't watching during the five weeks that ANGEL is on hiatus. Click here to find the number of your local WB affiliate.

Download one of our banners and post it on your site. Post our URL to your discussion lists, newsgroups and message boards to spread the word about the work we are doing to keep the show alive.

For up to the minute campaign updates, sign up for our Saving ANGEL newsletter.

It's looking up, guys! Let's keep the pressure on. It's important that we stay visible!

Total funds raised as of
March 4, 2004, at 04:00 GMT:
$17,424.22!
Including checks waiting to clear and
Euros not yet transferred

Here are the particulars of our goals, and the actual costs.

First Goal: Ad to run in The Hollywood Reporter, Tuesday, March 9, 2004
Cost: $3,095 final price for a full page black and white ad.
Status: We have raised 100% toward this goal!

Second Goal: Ad to run in Variety, Monday March 15, 2004
Cost: $5,085 final price for a full page black and white ad.
Status: We have raised 100% toward this goal!

Third Goal: 2 week Guerrilla Billboards campaign to run Monday, March 15 - Friday March 26. Click here to see the draft ad.
Cost: $9,000
Status: We have raised 100% toward this goal!

Because these goals have been met, we are asking that no further donations be made AT THIS TIME. The draft of our billboard ad can be found here. Print ads are in process. Billboard contracts have been approved. Other campaigns are being planned. We have received requests that we reopen donations and continue campaigns. We will come back to you asking for your continued financial support if those campaigns seem feasible.

From the Saving Angel campaign:

The passionate fan response to the news of ANGEL's cancellation should come as no surprise to anyone familiar with the online fandom and its devotion to this superior genre series. Because of the enthusiastic response to our own campaign, we've raised enough funds to place ads in both Variety and The Hollywood Reporter and mount a two-week mobile billboard campaign through Guerilla Billboards. Our ad in The Hollywood Reporter will run in the Weekly International Edition of Tuesday, March 9th. This edition can be purchased at such outlets as Barnes and Noble, Borders Bookstores and Tower Records. Check local availability, or order directly from the publisher by following instructions found here. Our ad in Variety will run in the March 15th National Edition of Daily Variety. The Guerilla Billboard campaign is scheduled to start "on or about March 15." We believe the degree of outrage fans have expressed through supporting a variety of efforts such as ours is the reason why even WB affiliates seem to be encouraging fans to campaign to keep the show on the air. It is news such as this which fuels our determination to keep fighting.

______________

It is so amazing to me what we, the fans, have been able to accomplish in such a short period of time. I am so impressed, and very proud of being a part of such a fantastic fandom.

**Don't forget, it is VERY important to mail those postcards. For mailing info, downloads, and ways to send postcards online, visit the Saving Angel download page.**

JUST IN!

In case you haven't heard, UPN has decided to take a pass on Ats.
Are we down and out?

Actually, no. But this next week or two is CRITICAL. We need to be
heard in a big way. We need to send a strong message via TONS of
cards.

So let's get cracking and get our show back!

As many of you know, Tribune (to whom we've been sending cards for
the past few days) actually solicited fans to protest via postcards
as *they* feel Ats is a valuable show with a strong fanbase.

So while we've been flooding them with our support, we've also
decided to think BIG and hit WB where it hurts:

The Big Bosses aka The Big Shareholders

So, how does it work:

Time Warner, Inc. holds 66% of the stock of The WB. So please spam
the following executive:

Jeffrey L. Bewkes
Chairman, Entertainment and Networks
Time Warner, Inc.
75 Rockefeller Plaza
New York, NY 10019

We like him for several reasons. His position is higher than Levin's
(head of The WB) in the corporation so he has power OVER Levin.
Plus, he is part of the upper corporate structure, working in the
division where the stock is held. Anyway you slice it, having this
guy aware of us and our efforts and commitment, is a GREAT thing.

Then, we continue to hit Tribune, the 2nd largest shareholder which
owns many WB affiliates to give them the needed support when they
complain about the loss of Ats.

That address again:

Patrick J. Mullen, President
Tribune Broadcasting Company
435 N. Michigan Ave., Suite 1800
Chicago, Illinois 60611

SPAM CRAZY, BABY! Let's drown these guys.

Alley

SAVING ANGEL

Update

Oh. Wow. You guys are so amazing.

Total funds raised as of
March 1, 2004, at 23:00 GMT:
$15,445.00!

Current Goal: 2 week Guerrilla Billboards campaign. Campaign to run Monday, March 15 - Friday March 26
Cost: $9,000
Status: We have raised 100% toward this goal!

Because these goals have been met, we are asking that no further donations be made AT THIS TIME. The draft of our billboard ad can be found here. This should keep fan devotion visible to the media, the networks, and the advertisers, at least through March 26. As things stand now, word about the fate of the show--whether it will be picked up by another network, or whether ME is going to end its efforts to shop the show around--could come any day. The print ads will go into the trade papers, regardless, as a public declaration of our love and support for the show. If the billboards will serve no further purpose, and if we have not entered into a legally binding agreement requiring us to pay for them whether we run the ads or not, the funds targeted for that purpose will be donated to our specified charity, ICRC. If the show is still being shopped and there's still a point to keeping up the public pressure, we have other campaigns planned and will come back to you asking for your continued financial support.

Campaign Update!!

w00t! We've got lots of good news tonight!

First off, our current totals:

Total funds raised as of
February 28, 2004, at 04:00 GMT:
$14,615.62!

First Goal: Place ad in the The Hollywood Reporter
Cost: Approximately $3,250 for a full page black and white ad.
Status: We have raised 100% toward this goal!

Second Goal: Place ad in Variety
Cost: Approximately $3,250 for a full page black and white ad.
Status: We have raised 100% toward this goal!

Third Goal: 2 week Guerilla Billboards campaign
Cost: $9,000 for 2 weeks
Status: We have raised $6,615.62 toward this goal!

Not only did we meet our first two goals by raising funds for ads in The Hollywood Reporter and Variety, we've been offered assistance in getting a deeper discount with Variety than we could get on our own. Our original estimate was $7,000 for both ads, and we now hope to spend less, but until all arrangements are finalized, we're holding a full $8,000 aside for the ads. Final figures and ad publication dates will be posted as soon as we sign off on each deal.

We have to keep the pressure on! The fact that we raised enough for both ads within 38 hours of going live is already yesterdays news. Now we have to set another attention-getting goal and let the media know that we're still fighting.

$9,000 will buy us two weeks on Guerilla Billboards, advertising trucks that can cover the Santa Monica/Los Angeles area. (Although just having it drive around the block where the WB has its headquarters would be worth the price. Or, you know, park across the street from the main entrance for about an hour while the driver takes lunch? We get to work out the route taken by the trucks.) A draft of the billboard ad will be available as soon as we can finalize the design and upload it to the site.

And on to the really good news!!

This week's postcard targets are:

UPN
Kevin Levy, Senior Vice-President, Schedule & Acquisitions
United Paramount Network
11800 Wilshire Blvd.
Los Angeles, CA 90025
USA
www.upn.com

Tribune Broadcasting Company
Patrick J. Mullen, President
Tribune Broadcasting Company
Ste. 1800, 435 N. Michigan Ave.
Chicago, Illinois 60611
USA

We chose Mr. Levy as a postcard recipient because we believe UPN is still a potential buyer for the show.

**We chose Mr. Mullen because we also understand that various WB affiliates would like to keep ANGEL on the air and have asked for fans to show their support. In addition, Tribune Broadcasting Company holds a 22% stake in the WB Network making it second largest shareholder, behind Time Warner's 66% share and ahead of the 11% held by WB network executives.**

Send as many cards as possible to both targets until March 8, when we'll post the name of the next target.

Having TWO names up here means TWICE the amount of cards, not half the amount to each. I know you can do it, you guys ROCK. It's VERY important to send cards to UPN AND to Tribune.

Let's flood those offices!

First Target

A large part of our campaign will be singling out one person at a time to spam with postcards, letters, phone calls, and faxes. By concentrating all our efforts in one place, we get noticed. And that's what we want. We want each recipient to get bombarded with mail. Let's make some waves. Hell, let's make a monsoon.

This week's (now - Feb 27th) victim is:

UPN
Dawn Ostroff, UPN Entertainment President
United Paramount Network
11800 Wilshire Blvd.
Los Angeles, CA 90025
Phone: 310-575-7000
Fax: 310-575-7220
www.upn.com

We chose Dawn Ostroff because we believe UPN is being approached as a possible buyer for the show. Send your stack of cards to her until February 27, when we'll post the name of the next target.

Go here to download cards and find out how you can do it entirely online through the post office.

Send as many cards as you can to the recipient during the designated time period. Add any personal message you like, making sure the message is clear on the card in all caps,

"SAVE ANGEL"

If you are mailing to a network that doesn't currently own Angel and doesn't know why you are asking them to save it, clarify the message with our slogan: We'll follow Angel to Hell ... or Another Network.

Feel free to post here in comments when you've mailed your cards, or if you have already.

Thank you for pimping this, and please continue to do so. Remember, the more fan participation, the more mail. We want to grab these people's attention and shake it hard.

Welcome!

Hello, and welcome to the Saving Angel LiveJournal community! If you're here, you're probably a fan of Angel, and you want to help save our show. Wonderful!

The campaign consists of

1. plans to take out full page ad in The Hollywood Reporter, Variety, or both to publicize our devotion to this show, what it has given us over the last five years, and our intent to save it. You can go to the campaign's main site and make a donation via PayPal.

2. a postcard campaign. Our idea is to target a different party each week, specifically, and make sure the blizzard is one they will have to notice.

By sending all your cards to one party a week (as opposed to spreading them out amongst everyone on the list at once), each recipient will receive a high volume of cards in a relatively short period of time. This sends a stronger message, as, all at once, said party can't get into their office due to the big old pile o' paper.

3. mobilizing fans. Grab a banner and/or post a link to the campaign website. Post it in your site. Tell people about this community. Post in your journal, on your message board, on your lists. The power and strength behind this campaign is the fans, and that means YOU.
