What an inspiration

A friend of mine had this posted on her livejournal. I just had to share even though it made me cry.

One day a son asked his father : Dad, do you want to run a race with me ? And the dad said yes. Together they ran their first race.

Later the son asked : Dad, do you want to run a marathon with me ? And dad said yes. So they ran their first marathon.

Another day the son asked : Dad, do you want to do the Ironman with me ? And once again his dad answered yes. And so they did.

This story along with the video is truly an inspiration.

<lj-embed id="4" />

What your taste in Art says about you.

This is really pretty accurate. The only part I disagree with is: "but may tend to be a bit more closed minded to new ideas as they feel that the viewpoint they have has been well researched and considered." I am open to new ideas especially if someone tells me their point of view and why.

Your result for What Your Taste in Art Says About You Test...

Conscientious, Fulfilled, and Spiritual

The Renaissance was a cultural movement that profoundly affected European intellectual life. Beginning in Italy, and spreading to the rest of Europe by the 16th century, its influence affected literature, philosopy, religion, art, politics, science, and all other aspects of intellectual enquiry. Renaissance artists looked at the human aspect of life in their art. They did not reject religion but tended to look at it in it's purest form to create visions they thought depicted the ideals of religion. Painters of this time had their own style and created works based on morality, religion, and human nature. Many of the paintings depicted what they believed to be the corrupt nature of man.

People that like Renaissance paintings like things that are more challenging. They tend to have a high emotional stability. They also tend to be more concientious then average. They have a basic understanding of human nature and therefore are not easily surprised by anything that people may do. They enjoy life and enjoy living. They are very aware of their own mortality but do not dwell on the end but what they are doing in the present. They enjoy learning, but may tend to be a bit more closed minded to new ideas as they feel that the viewpoint they have has been well researched and considered. These people are more old fashioned and not quite as progressive. They enjoy the finer things in life like comfort, a good meal, and homelife. They tend to be more spiritual or religious by nature. They are open to new aesthetic experiences.

Take What Your Taste in Art Says About You Test at HelloQuizzy

You're careful, extra careful, because the last thing you want is to hurt anyone. Especially some poor boy whose only crime was liking you.

                  Your exact female opposite:
Half-Cocked

Random Brutal Sex Dreamer

We've deduced you're fully capable of a dirty fling, but you do feel that post-coital attachment after hooking up. So, conscientious person that you are, you do your best to reserve physical affection for those you respect...so you can respect yourself.

Your biggest negative is the byproduct of your careful nature: indecision.
Borrowed this from Darklock

Things I love at the moment. Things that tickle me. Things that make my day brighter and smooth over the rough patches. Things that make me bark with laughter, or wheeze from the hilarity. Things that touch my heart with a whisper of all that is right with my universe.

1. Sunsets
2. Thunderstorms
3. Having a picnic with Matt
4. Reading Darklock's twitters (seriously they brighten my day)
5. Cuddling with a purring cat
6. Reading
7. Watching a show/movie that I can get lost in and forget about the world for a while
8. Chatting with friends
9. Talking to my family on the phone
10. Text or voice messages from Matt
11. Riding in the car with the windows down
12. Road trips
13. Taking an afternoon nap with Matt
14. Running
15. Anything that makes me laugh
16. Taking pictures
17. Listening to music
18. The idea of growing old with the love of my life
19. The knowledge that rough situations are temporary and won't last forever
20. Knowing I'm not alone
21. Internet access
22. Reading updates from David Hewlett whether on his site or twitter
23. Fireworks
24. Magic shows
25. Crossword Puzzles

I am sure there are other things, but these 25 are the ones that came to me first. :)

Last Day of Work!

I can hardly believe it. Today was my last day of work. I'm really going to miss everyone. My boss's wife Miriam and one of the chamber members Missy planned a going away party for me. I knew they were planning it, but I did not expect the response I got from the members. It was a come and go from 2-4 pm. There were about 30 people who came including the mayor. There were also many who called to let me know they could not make it, but wish me all the best.
Several people also bought me a gift. I was totally not expecting that at all. My time working for the chamber of commerce has been terrific. I am really sad to be leaving, but I know that it's time to move on to the next stage of my life. I have learned a great deal while working there and I know that knowledge will help me to be a better leader.
Here are a few pictures from the party.
Mayor Tardibono, Me and My boss Wally

My sister Jenny holding Bryant and Miriam

James and I (james is the chairman of the board)

I'm going to bed soon. I'm supposed to be at the NW recruiting station tomorrow by 09:00. We're having future soldiers training. My recruiter called me Thursday to see if I'd be there. I told him I would and asked if I should wear shorts and running shoes. He said yes. He called back a few minutes later and said, "Bring a raincoat too; it'll probably be raining."
Oh goody, I get to do PT and run in the rain tomorrow! :p I'll let you all know how it goes. :D

I have the best parents in the world

I just wanted to write a quick post about how I have the greatest parents in the world.

My parents have been living in cities 4 hours apart since December. My dad got transfered for work, but my mom had to finish the school year out, because they wouldn't release her from her teaching contract. So, my dad has been driving to Muskogee on Monday mornings, staying there all week and then driving to Woodward on Friday's to spend the weekend with my mom. Since Matt left for basic I have had a lot of things to get done including packing all of my belongings and moving them out of my house and into storage. To help out, my dad has driven all the way to Woodward 4 hours on Friday to stay the night and then he and my mom would drive here to OKC on Saturday, then drive back to Woodward on Sunday and then Dad would drive to Muskogee on Monday morning very early. During these past few weeks, my mom has finished up with school finals and also been packing their stuff to be moved to Muskogee while coming here on the weekends to help me. I am so grateful that they have taken so much of their nonexistant free time to come here and help me out. This past Friday and Saturday they came here to help me with my garage sale, which if you have had one you know how much work they can be. I was selling almost all of my furniture so there was a lot of heavy lifting involved.
By the time we were through Saturday afternoon we were all sunburned and exhausted, but sold almost everything! I never would have been able to get everything done that I have without their help.
There is so much more that they have done, but I can't even begin to list it all here. I just know I have the best parents ever.
Oh and if anyone knows someone who would be interested in a dresser, futon, 38 gallon fishtank or some laminate flooring please let me know or have them contact me!
Training

I bought a new watch today! Nothing expensive, only $30.00, but it's really cool. I got it to help me train for basic. One of my favorite features is that it has an interval timer. Very handy for one part of my workout. Once a week I do sprint/walk. I sprint for 30 seconds and then walk for 60 seconds. It will be a whole lot easier to do with my nifty new timer. It will beep at me at 30 and then 60 then repeat until I stop it! My sister was keeping track for me with a timer. She would yell sprint or walk to me. She did great until the last sprint. I was sprinting for what seemed like forever so I finally stopped and turned around. Turns out she was going for 60 seconds instead of 30, even though she realized it she didn't want to let me know she messed up. Now I won't have to depend on her skills.
Here's my nifty new watch. It's a bit big on me, but I'm used to that. Almost every watch I own is that way.

I am trying to decide what to do with my hair. I have been going to the same person to cut my hair for years and she does an excellent job with it. I will be moving within the next 6 weeks or so. I used to have my hair really short, before I leave for basic training I for sure want it that short again. The question is when should I get it cut? If I wait I may not be able to have her cut it and don't know what the results would be. If I have her cut it now I will just need to find someone else to maintain it until I leave for basic training. Any and all opinions on this matter would be very helpful!

View Poll: #990209

Season Finales

This years' season finales have had some of the most surprising twists and unbelievably mean cliff hangers. :p

For me the top surprising twist was on Numb3rs
The worse cliff hanger on CSI:Las Vegas

NCIS did have an interesting twist as well. That show has gotten more confusing and convoluted as the season wore on. I'm interested to see where it goes next season. Hopefully a lot of questions will be answered in the first few eps of the next season.

Stargate Atlantis had a cliff hanger too, but since I've heard a lot of spoilers and rumors it doesn't get to me as much.
