Gamer's Journal: Discipling Gamers For Christ
Resources for gamers to grow spiritually
I wasn’t always a Christian, nor did I grow up in a home that followed God. Sure, my mom would take me to a Catholic church, and it was a beautiful place, but I didn’t feel connected to God. I longed for a relationship with HIm, my Creator, but I had no clue how to do that. What were the words, ritual, or ceremony that I had to do?
I have nothing against Catholics, but I didn’t find God in that environment. Religion was present, and so were my sins. Nobody taught me about repentance or about Christ as the only mediator between us and God (1 Timothy 2:5).
Being raised in a fatherless home, my desire to know God as a Father was strong. Thankfully, I found Him when I was 17 and to this day continue to seek Him through prayer, reading the bible, and spending time in His presence.
Over the years as a Christian, I was discipled in several ways. Discipleship is the process of learning to follow Christ. After deciding to follow Christ, I wondered how I should live, act, and continue learning about God. I had not read the Bible much since it wasn’t a habit in my home, so I began exploring it on my own. This eventually gave me a solid foundation to study His word and learn it for myself, so I wouldn’t be misled by someone else.
I went through a rough time, learning and then later unlearning some theological nonsense I picked up from some pastors, books, YouTube sermons, and other content. This led me down a path of reconstructing my faith by questioning several beliefs I had about faith, which I go over in two parts in the link above.
What about other Christians? There’s a large number of believers going through a spiritual crisis, leaving churches, and dropping their faith altogether. Instead of diving deeper into who God is, getting to know Christ more, we just leave Him as if He were a toxic ex we shouldn’t be around.
Here at Gaming & God, I want you to have as many resources as you can to grow spiritually. This ministry doesn’t exist to talk just about video games; that’s why I named it Gaming & God.
Gamers need to grow in faith just as much as anyone else. We tend to be introverted, but passionate about our hobby of choice.
Gamers know their sub-genre, latest releases, upcoming Nintendo Direct or the annual Video Game Awards show. That’s wonderful, but how much time are we spending knowing God and our purpose in life?
That’s why I put together this page for you! I wish when I first gave my life to Christ that I would have had more guidance than just “go to church every Sunday or small group”. There are so many amazing books, podcasts, YouTube channels, and more that have blessed my life. It wasn’t just one person but multiple that have impacted my life, whether in real life or via their content.
Check out that resource page above, and let me know what you think. When you go through it and find something that helped you, please let me know in the comments or via email. I read and reply to everything myself!

This is beautiful, thank you for sharing. May God continue to bless you
