Norah Porter

About the member

Norah Porter is an Irish artist working from Sample-Studios in Churchfield, Cork. She graduated from Limerick School of Art and Design with a BA in Visual Communications. She has worked in London, Dublin and Cork as a graphic designer, and more recently has led group art facilitation for children and for the corporate market. She is currently a part time Event Coordinator with Sample-Studios.

Norah
Porter

The work is abstract in composition and is strongly influenced by the Irish landscape. The unpredictable changes of the Irish weather, the play of light and colour are a constant source of inspiration. She works on a series of paintings, each piece begins intuitively with the memory or significance of a time and place. As the layers build the work starts to engage with me, this is the point when I read the clues it is giving. Towards the end, the pace slows; changes become more considered and colours are refined so the painting keeps its energy.
