A note about stats
I don't have access to this feature. So if you "like" a post of mine, I have no idea who liked it. Just an FYI.

book list from 2016
According to goodreads, I read 91 books and graphic novels this year. There were a few audio book/radio dramatizations in there as well.
That is just the list of unique, first time reads/listens.
I could not begin to tell you the total number of reads if I included re-reads and fanfic reads.
It would just be a big number.

I also made an attempt to do a targeted read list.
Here's how I did:

So, 39 out of 40 categories completed. Not bad!

Orlando
There were 2 vigils yesterday, but no one in the household was needing to be in a crush of people. We went to a local nursery instead and bought flowers and planted a rainbow memorial garden in the yard.

Several folks locally today expressed a need to be with people. So in about an hour, folks will come to the house and eat and drink and be with each other.

My queer friends bowl me over with their support. To the few straight allies in my life that get it and have reached out, thank you.
The rest of you...your silence is deafening right now.

As a lifelong pacifist, this whole thing hurts my heart so deeply. That some folks think access to assault rifles is more important than a human life is just staggering. That we do not have tighter gun control laws in this country is outrageous and irresponsible. And that some folks can't see the hate behind an act like this, that they can't see a hate crime targetting POC communities and queer community....I just don't have adequate words.

Be kind to each other.
Even if you have differences in your background or faith or beliefs, please realise that we are all muddling our ways through life on this big blue marble.
Think about what you can do to help instead of hinder.
Even one small act of kindness can make a huge difference.

Shhhhhh
All the animals in the house right now are all napping. Even the small occasionally hyper dog. It's amazing how quiet it is. Let's see how long it lasts.

Day one of a world without David Bowie. What a strange melancholy day this has been.
The oddness of mourning someone you have never met. Yet their words have woven themselves into the fabric of your life for decades. And their fierceness and bravery and fluidity paved the way for you and others. I think it fair to place him as an ancestor, an elder in a ragtag tribe.

Boxing Day
Nice and relaxed. Made us breakfast. Watched more Star Wars. Made us lunch. Did laundry. Realised we had a gift certificate to use at local funky eatery chain. So ventured out for dinner and drinks. Then with full bellies and rosy cheeks, fell into bed early.

I am really enjoying this weekend time to do projects if I want. Or be social if I want. Or do absolutely nothing if I want.

Happy Happy!
The midnight hour approaches and I am looking forward to a quiet night in with my sweetie after a long (and cold!) week. We've both been so tired lately that we might not even make it to the new day and the new year.
The holidays in general have been good. I worked hours and sites all over the place. Making my pay look a bit better than it has in weeks. Also good for this upcoming wedding business. Had a few hours Christmas evening with my parents and sister having a lovely dinner and opening presents. And brought the ham bone home and made some fairly amazing soup with it.
Hopefully will have some time tomorrow to put the decorations away and consult the list of Things To Do for February's shindig.
I know one awesome item from the list is in my possession. Our pal that is a master tailor and corset maker gifted me with the finished waist cincher I am going to wear. And it is such a thing of beauty. It was the capper on an incredible evening where we were treated to an amazing meal and drinks at the Raven and Rose in Portland. Those that watch 'Grimm' will recognize it from episode 303. Take a peek at their menus to see what delightful things were on offer.

OK, off to scare up some glasses to have some champagne in. Happy 2015 to you all!

HP reunion!
My comment on the HP Reunion roll call post --
http://hp-reunion.livejournal.com/2296.html

Name/LJ Name: saladbats

Favorite HP Character(s): Snape!
Favorite HP Book(s): Half Blood Prince.
Favorite HP Movies(s): (With a little internal head canon editing) Prisoner of Azkaban.
Where were you when you read the last book?: in London at the Sectus con with several people I met through LJ and now have the pleasure of knowing in RL and counting as dear friends. <3
Did you attend any midnight book sales or movie premieres? Did anything memorable happen at them?: I went to midnight releases for all of the movies and most of the books. For the last 2 movies, I was on the road for work. So had to coordinate bringing my Slytherin uniform in my luggage and figuring out where the releases were being held. For Deathly Hallows Part 2, I ended up going by myself to a Regal cinema in Niagara Falls and chatting with some fun folks from nearby Grand Island. Then the next night I saw the movie again at a drive-in under a full moon with fireflies in the shrubs nearby. Magical!

How did you get into the online fandom?: I was on LJ for strict journaling purposes and decided one day to see who else on the site was into this interesting new book series about a boy wizard. And it just exploded from there.
Are you still active in HP fandom?: Yes!
If so, what are your contributions to fandom? Anything exciting you want to tell us about?: I remain an avid reader and ogler of fanart. I do beta now and then. And still contribute to my little part of the fandom, the hpvamp community.
I also get together with local folks as often as I can, often through connections we try to maintain through pacific_slash.

Do you still post on LJ? If not, how long has it been since you posted? Yes, I post probably once every 1-2 weeks. My work schedule is such that I often come home and faceplant rather than get online. But I am still here and try to post as often as possible.

Are you active on other fandom networking sites? No, LJ remains my main place for fandom.

Are you open to having new friends on LJ (Yes/No)? Sure!
If not on LJ, on Twitter, Tumblr, etc? I use FB for connecting with RL people. I don't really like/get the interfaces on any other site.

Excited about the reunion? Please tell us. Gifs are welcome too!
Umm, yes! 8)

Rating: Mature
Career Choices: Harry: representative to the International Confederation of Wizards; Draco: Deputy head, Magical Maintenance
Pairing(s): Harry/Draco
Warnings/Content Notes: None
