Jillian writes most eloquently and honestly when she examines the concepts of "killing" and "harvesting," as well at the moral and ethical perspectives of acquiring our meat. Brilliantly written and challenging to acknowledge, Jillian's perspective on this topic is so important and timely to our society at this point in time.
John is one of the most creative chef/foodies I've ever read. Having spent a good part of my life in the restaurant and food writing arena, I can say that to read this gentleman's prolific use of culinary skills rises far above the mundane to a status of simply fascinating!
Jack, tells it wit an honest voice...sometimes, it is about listening rather than talking. And his desire to connect with our true love - deer, ducks, trails, etc. is welcoming to new readers. And, yes, summer is like watching the grass grow, anticipating the first cold north wind.
