He's healing up pretty well, though his foot stinks. I washed it with epsom salts today(and my gross eye-cheek infection, it's nasty). But all his medication and not feeling well has him so skinny! He's actually just on the edge of underweight right now at 68 lbs.

Ugh I haven't been online in weeks. Not email or anything. So very sorry, going to try and get back in touch with everyone.
My health is pretty poor, I think is probably the end. It's not too bad, I just kind of get weaker and my organ/brain function slows every week. The pain is worse than usual- mostly because when the marrow lumps get large enough they put tiny little cracks through my bones. My eyes are crappy. I still haven't given in and gotten the white cane yet- the service dog usually does the trick.

I'm just so tired all the time/ It's not just that I haven't been online I haven't been doing anything. So I haven't been trying to avoid anyone or anything I just have a hard time with typing, etc. Mostly I wake up about 1 pm and if I'm up to it have a shower then I try and eat something and sit outside and watch the bird feeder. Then I try and get Schalke a little exercise(his rehab was going awesomely but we had a set back so he can't do too much) and get supper made. Then about 6 pm I have to lay down and I usually either eat a little something or have a nap or watch a little telly. Then sleep.

Going in for blood work and to see the immunologist Monday morning and to check if any new possible matches for bone marrow
, also having a brain scan again next week to see about puting a stent into the circle of Willis tp stop the almost daily litlle strokes/seizures . I also see my regular doctor a couple days after the scan. I'm hoping to get permission to fly and hopefully be able to go down to Massachusetts one last time. Since I have a ticket I bought but couldn't use in Sept. because of Schalke's accident.

Schalke's foot ended up amazing. It was three reconstructive surgeries in total and a pad skin graft. He ended up with good movement in the foot as a whole but he has veery little pad on the bottom and he has two immobile toes that stick off kind of funny on his foot. I call them him silly toes. So he doesn't feel self conscious about them. My poor little baby/ He went back to work officially this week and did amazing! He was a perfect gentleman.
Than a couple days ago he was quite sick and has been sore and hiding and trying to hide from strangers especially ever since. I need him to wok Monday so if no better tommorow morning he goes to the vet. He did have a very serious bone infection during his recovery and he had to have two courses of both IV and oral antibiotics for ten days at a time and he had these sores...ulcers that showed up during that and he has had a couple again. So I think he\s a little sick. I hate to make him work when he;s sick.

Okay I guess that's it. I'm going to try and get caught up and get baxck in touch with everyone I promise!!

I am having a crappy day, it started at 4 am when, after staying up late just to finish writing it, LJ ate my RP post which, like a tool,
I hadn't saved in AbiWord.
I know it's my own fault but....awww come on LJ, be cool.

Then I had a bath because of a sore back a from being up all night and while towel drying my hair I accidentally ripped my ear lobe a third of the way off. I know I'm not supposed to have hot water on my skin, and I should have learned my lesson from the Boston hot tub of doom which made a couple of my toe nails and one fingernail come unrooted but I didn't. Your ear lobe can make a lot of blood. Srsly dood. So while holding a towel to my head I learned the ~~super painful~~fun way that you can't put stitches through cartiledge with a sewing needle[I do all my own stitches, no local anethsia works for people with CTD anyway and normal suture techniques aren't effective either so I figured out my own system, it both saves me hours of sitting in the ER everytime something rips(frequently) and tax payer's money.]:|
So super glue it is.
You know it's bad when your own ear is tired of your bullshit and wants to leave. :P

Then I come out to find that f'ing deer has eaten my garden. My garden which I love. Not as high on the 'creepy love for inanimate object' scale as my FC Schalke 04 hat that the super smart babealiscious(no babealiscious in spellcheck *L*) Grissom-mun gave me but I do adore my garden. (wait...a garden is sort of animate, it's an innaimate concept made of animate things? Shit, someone call a Philosophy major!)

Therefore because of my minor tribulations annoying me I'm just going to ruin all your guy's day. How? With this:

Is it best to just take it to a camera store and get them to do it? Does it make much difference versus photo paper and a decent printer?

I am learning to play the mandolin. It is frustrating because I used to teach piano lessons and compete as a soloist and had a job playing as an accompanist, etc. Then I played the flute and was really good at that and then when that was too easy I switched to French Horn.
I never had trouble leaning an instrument.

Mandolin is kicking my ass.

It is sad. Very sad. Madownedlin.

So I thought I would take a few commissions.
Though I don't expect to get any, so I wont be buthurt about it if I don't. Actually I hate doing commissions because of the massive stress- and I always feel kind of guilty about taking the money. I know no one put a gun to their head and made then buy the picture but I just can't help feeling that I'm taking their money and they're not really getting anything decent in return.
Which is kind of silly thinking really because I know that I buy commissions from artists of all different levels of skill just for the sheer joy of seeing my characters drawn.

Actually the only reason I want to take some commissions on is to buy commissions from other people. *L*
I also need to get new glasses and a set of special extra mirrors for my vision blind spots before my next road test.
I am not counting on commission money though. I'm not expecting a mad rush or anything. :P And on these meds I'm pretty much just stuck in the house. Too

My problem is I have no idea what to charge! My art has actually improved a little bit since the last time I took a commission so I can't help thinking perhaps I should bump it up a little bit. On a scale of 10 with 10 being the best artists on FA I've probably gone from 6 to a 6 1/2.
Which puts me right in the middle range.

Right now I still have no working tablet so I can't do anything digitally except to clean up sketches a little bit. My dear friend AirGuiTaR charges $40 for a coloured single character and my art is about half as good as hers so I was thinking $20? And her line art is around $25 so I would charge $12.50.

I've never done con badges and am not sure the specifics on them so I think I'll avoid that.

I'm just having a hard time with pricing...for all the stress of doing a commission and then to only get $12.50 seems not worth it. On the other hand my art is only worth that much, if it even is worth that much, in the FA market .

So I have two divergent trains of thought:
1.) Put the prices really cheap and do a bunch. With less money changing hands there is less stress, and possibly if I did more commissions they would gradually become less terrifying. I might end up spending more money on supplies then I make on the commissions though,
2.) Put the prices a little high. That way if someone buys a commission I know they really want it. However that will make it extra stressful and also putting your commission prices high when you are obviously not at that level of skill makes you look like an ass.

So does anyone have any advice about what you think is fair for me to charge? Please be honest, I wont be hurt, I'm seriously asking for a forthright opinion.

And I found that Erin has a great contract at the bottom of her art blog for commissions and I think I will nick that for myself. It's much better than the vague couple of emails contract I normally end up with.
