She's off my goddamn Christmas list.

Jesus Christ, I am furious at my art teacher. We have a pretty open class, by which I mean anyone will talk about anything and everyone can contribute, pretty much pressure-free. We all get along well, and there are rarely arguments. However, I just blew my top yesterday. I'm not proud of it, but I think I was correct in my assessment that my Art teacher needs to have the almighty pimp hand laid across her bony face.

Someone mentioned a story they heard about in the news--a woman was raped in her apartment in New Jersey. This is, of course, dreadful news. It led to a discussion about rape and how terrible it is, and eventually someone mentioned that they knew someone who had been raped. Someone else said that that was horrible, who was it? And the first person responded that it was her sister's husband. This happened when he was younger. Everyone was appalled and expressed sympathy, and she added "The rapist never got charged for it, either. She didn't get jail time or anything."

Now, apparently the art teacher had previously assumed that the rapist must have been male, because at this point she cut in with "Oh, but women can't rape men."

Now, first of all, she just trivialized the entire thing. She basically took that man's terrible experience and tossed it aside like it was nothing, and that is unacceptable on so many levels. Second of all, that is completely and direly incorrect.

I was startled by this, and before anyone could reply, I blurted, "That's not true! Of course they can!"

Now, several people were blown away, either by her statement or mine, but she just laughed at me. "Why do you feel the need to refute everything I say?" she asked.

"Because you're wrong about all of them!" I snapped. I was furious and not thinking straight, and half the class was horrified at me, but the teacher laughed it off.

I am so angry. And the girl who's brother-in-law was raped? So is she. I will never be able to respect my Art teacher again. Bitch.
