And then he would be kind of amused, and think "He probably just runs out of hot water in the shower thinking about me." and then sort of bypass that thought, and come back to it later unrelatedly to add something like "I wonder how often..." and then sort of stop and think "Where did that--...okay I'm, going to go hurt something."

He'll look at Lucci quietly, ignoring the trickle of blood from his mouth.. "Now that you have that out of your system...." and he' regard him passively for a moment. He's not really mad, because really, he can understnadwhy saying what he said would incite Lucci's anger. Even WITHOUT the emotional rammifications

runicbinary (1:56:53 AM): Yes. XD And Lucci would be even angrier because now the new kid is talking down to him and isn't that a bitch. Especially considering he deserves it. So he would just glare, and hope it would make Kaku back down until he realized it wouldn't, and then he might punch something, like a wall, but not Kaku again because that's just uncalled for and he knows it. And eventually he would say, "You're right. I cannot let this affect my work."
DemonOfShandora (1:58:24 AM): Kaku would simply nod, offer him a mild smile, and wipe the blood absently from his lip. After a moment, he'd say, "...next time, I'd rather you just tell me if something was amiss..." and chuckle faintly before he starts to turn.
runicbinary (1:59:33 AM): And then Lucci would just grab his shoulder, spin him back around and kiss him completely without preamble or warning or anything. And probably almost stab himself in the eye.'

DemonOfShandora (2:00:01 AM): At that point, Kaku would go, "asdklfjasldkfj" in his head. LIKE THAT PICTURE WE LOVE

runicbinary (2:05:07 AM): Lucci would keep that up for probably a little longer than is generally considered polite, and then let him go and say "I'm not going to let it affect my work. I'm going to do something about it. Like I imagine you've been doing." And he would do the Evil Grin. "But I;m going to have the benefit of your company."
DemonOfShandora (2:05:54 AM): Kaku turns bright red and looks uncharacteristically startled at being caught red- um, handed. XD
runicbinary (2:06:25 AM): Pfff XD
DemonOfShandora (2:07:59 AM): And he can't really find the words to deflect what Lucci says at the moment, because Lucci just accused him (accurately, ROFL) of pleasuring himself to him. He briefly wonders if Lucci spied on him and relized that this was unlikely.
"Be...benefit of my company?" he finally manages, trying to find a shred of dignity and calmness
runicbinary (2:12:13 AM): And normally Lucci would find the shock and nervousness annoying, but with Kaku it's just kind of...here imagine him mentally beating the word 'endearing' to death with a club and shoving it into a closet. "Yes. I'm going to fuck you, and you're not going to have a problem with it. Are you?" (He says this like it's a warning but he means it like it's a question and he lets it show juuuust a little, because for some reason Kaku knowing that Lucci doesn't want to just rape him or something is really important)

DemonOfShandora (2:15:42 AM): The sheer rawness of Lucci'swords strikes a strange chord in Kaku's brain. Whether it's hormones or something else entirely, he's not sure. MAybe this is an elaborate fantasy; he's been known to have them on his own time. XD He looks at Lucci with those eyes, they're wide and should look innocent, but they look old and not at all innocent.
"...No. No problem." He finally says in a firm tone and he kisses him this time, making sure to angle his head just right. It's abrupt.
runicbinary (2:24:11 AM): And Lucci likes that. A lot. More than he probably should. Because usually when someone tries to take the lead he just makes sure that they know exactly who is in charge. And right now he does sort of want to...exert dominance, but without crushing the force of will Kaku is showing, because that's half the reason he likes him enough to betray professionalism like this and besides it's kind of seriously turning him on. So he finds a wall and shoves Kaku against it, but doesn't actually shove him away. God forbid.
DemonOfShandora (2:27:51 AM): (Assumign this is W7??)
DemonOfShandora (2:31:13 AM): Kaku has no flowery ideas about sex with Lucci. He expected Lucci to be dominating and intense, but...it's true that this is a little different than expected. It's weird because there's more than just this raw sex. (He's picking up on those little admirations that Lucci has for him and how they're exhibited here). He presses back against that wall and his fingers find their way tightly into that hair by some sheer instinct, surprised that he's retained some sort of control in this situation. And his jaw still hurts like hell and his lip still tastes of blood, but it tastes of both Lucci AND blood now, and the two have always mixed so well.
runicbinary (2:48:28 AM): Lucci has no flowery ideas about sex at all; he never has, and honestly, he's never put much stock in it. Human bodies have needs and his is no different, and whenever he's gotten an urge in the past he's just found someone to take care of it with. But really enjoying it is reserved for very few and far between instances where he can find someone tough enough to take a little fight. And Kaku is...but that's not all this is about and he knows it. He's damned if he knows exactly what it's about, but he knows it means something. And that it's going to be good, because if there's one thing Lucci admires about Kaku, it's his ability to put up a fight.
DemonOfShandora (2:51:46 AM): And put up a fight he does. Even at the most painful parts, he grits his teeth and bears it, and sometimes even with a grin. It's a good thing he wears those high collared jackets because otherwise people would be asking some very unpleasant questions about the teeth and scratch marks upon his neck, back, and shoulders. But he makes a valiant effort to give a little of what he got, hoping that he left a mark SOMEWHERE on Lucci's nigh impervious body. It's also ridiculously enjoyable, MUCH better than a fantasy.
As far as Kaku knows, though, this is a one time deal. He may not like THAT part, but he'll tolerate it and move on.
runicbinary (2:54:41 AM): But he gets that opinion corrected a few days later when Lucci lunges out of a dark corner and drags him off. Because maybe part of him is hoping Kaku can leave a mark somewhere on him. (Maybe he already has.)
DemonOfShandora (2:56:40 AM): And what starts out as a few trysts here in there in their own privacy within a few days persists into a few weeks...and a few months...and before Kaku realizes it, it's been a year and they've continued this 'thing', whatever it is. I imagine Kaku to be thinking idly on it one day, and absently refers to Lucci as his 'lover' when it really strikes him.
runicbinary (3:02:30 AM): And at some point it occurs to Lucci that the fact that he hasn't slept with anyone else during this time might be due to more than the fact that it isn't worth it to bother. And it also occurs to him that the fact that he probably spends more time with Kaku than anyone else isn't just because they work well together and make good partners, and his mental categorization of Kaku as his partner may have taken on an alternate meaning...and he's angry, for a little while, that he let someone get this close.
But eventually he decides that if anyone deserved the right, it was Kaku. And that getting annoyed about it and retreating from what has somehow become a relationship, shutting Kaku out forever like his professional instincts tell him he ought to, would...just be more trouble than it's worth.
DemonOfShandora (3:04:24 AM): Do you think that during this period, it progressed from just sex to things actual couples, killer assassins or no, might do or say in private? (OBVIOUSLY not in public, it's Lucci and Kaku XD)
Not necessarily mushy stuff like cuddling or that kind of crap. But people do talk about things and linger and such
runicbinary (3:06:24 AM): I think eventually Lucci might have pretended to be too comfortable to get up and leave. And then eventually he might pretend to be too comfortable to leave but not tired enough to go to sleep, and would say something like "How did your [insert government function] go?" in a completely casual and disinterested tone.

DemonOfShandora (3:07:53 AM): and Kaku will repsond just as idly, conversationally...probably sound vaguely bored, because really...government functions after having sex with Lucci is so underwhelming!

DemonOfShandora (3:10:10 AM): which Kaku would find imcredibly odd for Lucci to bring up because Lucci always seemed so...what's the word. Settled in the real world. The afterlife is an odd thing for an assassin to talk about, after all. But it might bring up interesting points!
"If karma does exists, what will it do for us?"
runicbinary (3:11:19 AM): And Lucci would ask, "Is it right? What we do?" Because he knows the answer.
DemonOfShandora (3:13:50 AM): Kaku is silent; her's not sure if Lucci means their job or...their...them. "Whether it is, or it isn't...someone has to do it. We just happened to be the best ones for the job. I don't pretend to believe that we are righteous, but the people who end up dead by our hand do not deserve their life. If we do not take it from them, someone else will come along. Someone else, or something else. It's not pretty, but death is just another part of life."
He went for the job route, just inc ase.
runicbinary (11:41:00 PM): "So we serve justice," Lucci says, with total conviction, "because we have to. Karma dictates cause and effect, right and wrong, but says nothing of necessity. Karma balances the universe, but I would say that we do as well. Bringing about just punishment, impersonally, because someone must. So the simplest answer is that...it does nothing for us. But it might be accurate to say that we do quite a lot for it."
DemonOfShandora (11:42:51 PM): Kaku sort of smiles. "Or perhaps we are that karma you speak of. At least for some." He looks thoughtful, and glances over at Lucci before he sits up comfortably.
runicbinary (11:49:00 PM): Lucci sort of smiles too. He doesn't do that, normally, unless someone is getting hurt or is about to. But sometimes, in situations like this, when he's feeling perfectly comfortable and no one is around who, he's as sure as he can be, might use it against him...it's a little easier to let slip that, well, he's enjoying himself. "Perhaps. Karma is a construct of religion, and there are no gods but those that men make. But that, of course, is only one man's opinion." He smirks a little more, sitting up so that he's level with Kaku again.
DemonOfShandora (11:51:18 PM): The smile on Lucci's face sort of takes Kaku by surprise; it's a rare thing in and of itself, but especially rare in a situation where blood or death is not involved.
"Isn't that all religion is? One man's opinion of the world around him?"

runicbinary (11:57:01 PM): "Religion is a set of rules arbitrarily constructed by man and presented as the work of a higher power. One that must be obeyed, lest fire and brimstone and unimaginable punishment await the criminal against God's word." He watches Kaku's face, noting the slight surprise and pretending that he's taking stock, or looking for something, rather than just...looking, because he can. Which he isn't doing, of course. "Not entirely unlike government...but with the fault of being rather less firmly grounded in reality, and more susceptible to flawed interpretation."

DemonOfShandora (12:04:37 AM): "Religion was only created so that the fear of death would be eased, or to explain the world around them. I suppose some people feel more secure in thinking that some higher power guides their path and their fates. I, for one, think this is just an excuse to place the blame anywhere but their own selves. It's not the fear of God that keep people in line, but the fear of pain, of death. That is why we are so skilled at our own particular type of persuasion. And that's also why such persuasion does not work on us."
Kaku's obviously not disagreeing with Lucci on his point, but merely adding his own personal commentary to the conversation. He levels his gaze with Lucci's, though he IS partially looking simply because he can. He would never deny that Lucci was unfairly attractive, of course.
runicbinary (12:11:23 AM): "Human beings are fundamentally weak," Lucci points out. He considers this an unerring fact. "The need to draw strength and well-being from a source outside the self is only a symptom of that weakness. Rejecting that fear is the only way to truly become strong."
He's never really looked at someone before like this. He does look at everyone, takes in everything, but rarely has he taken in so much about a person without finding something that disgusts him. It's...unique, and interesting, and probably inadvisable. He doesn't stop.
DemonOfShandora (12:14:36 AM): Kaku nods his agreement to this, and notes the way that Lucci seems to be surveying him. Someone else might find the scrutiny of those intense eyes unsettling, but Kaku found it intriguing. He wondered what Lucci was looking for, if indeed he was searching for something, or what he saw. It also feels like...he's getting a very rare glimpse into some aspect of Lucci t hat no one else has ever seen. It's this feelign that makes Kaku feel at once both deeply interested and somewhat wary.
runicbinary (12:17:44 AM): Lucci finds himself wondering something he's always taken for granted. It's...odd. "Are you afraid of me?" he asks, not necessarily curious so much as expectant. Some part of him...needs to know this. He doesn't understand exactly why.
DemonOfShandora (12:18:26 AM): Kaku thinks this an odd question, and looks at Lucci. "No. Should I be?"
runicbinary (12:19:47 AM): "No," Lucci says, after a pause. That's...strange to admit. He shouldn't say anything more, he knows. "Normally I enjoy it when someone fears me."
DemonOfShandora (12:20:30 AM): Kaku smiles a little. "To be honest, I was never afraid of you. On the congrary, hearing all those rumors of you before I arrived onnly made me anticipate meeting you more." He chuckles lightly at this.

DemonOfShandora (12:26:10 AM): "Oh?" Kaku shifts slightly so that he is facing Lucci with his upper body now. "I suppose you've met very few people who were unafraid of you. Though I don't blame them considering your formidible reputation, I can hardly count myself among them." He's unabashed by the lack of a smile on Lucci's face. "Why do you find it interesting?"
runicbinary (12:51:13 AM): "Because," and this is the part that Lucci still isn't used to, still can't convince himself is normal or acceptable: letting little bits of the man show through the monster. "No one has ever been unafraid of me before. No one who isn't repugnant. I think that it should be grounds for hating you, but I don't. Instead, I find it...impressive."
DemonOfShandora (12:52:45 AM): Kaku smiled again. "That's quite a compliment," he says. "I assume that most people who are unafraid of you are simply fools or ridiculously stupid. The fact that you think I fall into neither category is almost an honor."
runicbinary (12:55:18 AM): Lucci's mind immediately drifts to Jyabura, who is not, in fact, afraid of him. He wishes it hadn't. "Good," he says, refocusing on the far less annoying matter at hand. "It should be." He smirks.
DemonOfShandora (12:56:53 AM): Kaku laughs again, quietly, and lays back down, stretching in a very comfortable fashion. He finds himself enjoying these random, sometimes oddconversations that he and Lucci have when their more physical needs were otherwise spent.
runicbinary (1:05:37 AM): Speaking of physical needs, Lucci enjoys watching Kaku stretch like that; he's not bulky by any means, but every inch of him is hard muscle, as their profession demands. Lucci likes that. Just another advantage of being with someone closer to his level...

"Hmm," he says, a sound at the crossroads of curious, distracted, perturbed, and confused.
DemonOfShandora (1:06:22 AM): "Eh?" Kaku opens his eyes, pausing in mid stretch, and looks at Lucci with a mild look of confusion. "What is it?"

runicbinary (1:20:31 AM): Lucci is in the awkward position of having found himself vaguely curious as to the state of their...well...them, and not being able to ask about it without revealing more than he wants to. Besides, it's an unimportant question - a stupid one, frankly, and one that Lucci knows better than to get into. He does know better. And yet.
"Nothing, really," he says eventually, lying back and propping his head on one hand so that he can look down at Kaku. After a moment, he adds "I was just considering how tragic it would be for all the available citizens of Water 7 if they ever discovered that I'm off the market."
DemonOfShandora (1:23:19 AM): This gets Kaku's attention most soundly. He turns his head very quickly to regard Lucci, unable to hide the expression of surprise on his face. Of course, considering that this has been going on for nearly a year or more and it seemed to show no signs of stopping, perhaps his reaction was unneccesary. But this is Rob Lucci we are talking about. He never did seem the type to be, well, taken.
After a moment, Kaku realizes that he probably looks VERY foolish with the way he is staring, and tries to come up with something appropriate to say.
"Off the market, you say?" he finally manages.
runicbinary (1:29:18 AM): Lucci is not one for insecurity or regret, but he does consider that...perhaps he's gone too far. And that perhaps it would have been best if he'd kept his goddamn mouth shut like his perfectly reasonable and reliable instincts told him to. But he did start it, and he's going to follow it through. "Human beings are fundamentally weak," he says again, with half a shrug. "It's more trouble than it's worth to find one it's possible to put up with."
DemonOfShandora (1:31:48 AM): Kaku is silent for a moment. "...Another compliment. I think you're on a roll this evening." It's only lightly teasing, in a completely good-natured way, but in fact, Kaku feels deeply...well, he's not sure how he feels. Becoming actually, well, involved with Lucci was not something he expected. Thought about once, over a year ago before this happened, but never truly anticipated it actually occuring.
"You had to beat me senseless several times and hit me in the jaw before you decided I was worth the trouble..."
runicbinary (1:37:49 AM): Lucci decides to refrain from comment on being called out on his compliments. Instead, he rolls over to lie on his back, looking up at the cieling in the best impression of utter nonchalance he knows how to do (which, all things considered, is pretty damn good). "Beating you senseless was only half of it. I had to know several things about you, as well. And hitting you in the jaw was because I was angry," he adds, in a perfectly reasonable tone of voice.
DemonOfShandora (12:04:34 AM): "You pull your punches when you strike Paulie." This is stated as a fact rather than something bad. Kaku's tone is even. "But never with me. Some people might take this to mean that you favor him, but..." Kaku shakes his head a little. "No. It's because you know that he is not worthy of your full strength. At least, that's what I think; I could be mistaken. But it's because you favor me that you strike with your full ability." He gives Lucci an intent look. "You're very good at wearing that mask; you should be, of course. But in a year of being...whatever we are...you've let me see a few things that no one else has been privileged to see. It's...a bit of an honor, really."
runicbinary (12:11:12 AM): Lucci turns to look at Kaku as he speaks, but says nothing, remaining expressionless and silent for the duration of that observation. He continues to look on blank and wordless for awhile after, considering the thought. "A few things I never meant for you to see," he says quietly. At least, I never thought I did. After a pause, he adds, darkly, "But you're right. And I won't pretend to dislike it, that you saw them, anyway. It probably wouldn't fool you."
runicbinary (12:19:23 AM): "And I find you intriguing for a variety of reasons, that being one of them." Lucci has the distinct impression that he's let Kaku too far under his armor, that he won't be able to force him back out, and that he doesn't want to. It's...unsettling, but it's also something strange and unusual that he's almost tempted to qualify as...pleasant. If being with Kaku has taught him anything, it's that no man is an island - a distant peninsula reachable only at low tide and surrounded by sharks and riptides, perhaps, but eventually, someone is going to make the trip, no matter how dangerous. And Kaku managed to come out unscathed. If anyone's worthy of being let into Rob Lucci's world, it's him. "There may be few people in this world I can trust, but there is only one I can trust to this degree." It's probably the biggest concession Lucci has made...maybe ever.
DemonOfShandora (12:27:55 AM): Kaku feels a curious rush of adrenaline at this small admission; he recognizes that the sort of trust Lucci means is not the type used in business. This ran deeper, and it struck an odd chord in Kaku's mind. Of course, Kaku knew that Lucci means him, and did not need to ask such for clarification. He nods instead after a moment.
"The question is going to be just how much are we willing to entrust to each other, and for how long."
runicbinary (12:35:24 AM): That's a question Lucci hadn't considered, having never put much real thought into this...whatever it is, before. He almost wants to ask Kaku what he means, knowing that Kaku is more acquainted with basic human behavior than he is...which is frustrating, but occasionally useful. "Honestly," he says slowly, after awhile, "I don't know. It wouldn't have occurred to me to...set boundaries."
DemonOfShandora (12:45:55 AM): "Hm." Kaku sits up again and rests his elbows on his knees, hunched over slightly in thought. His hair is nicely mussed and the sheets shift so he's probably pretty much uncovered. Just because. "I really don't think that either of us had intended for this to continue as it has. As for boundaries, well...Ithink we're past the point of that." He glances at a few of the fresh scratches, bruises, and bitemarks that riddle his skin with vague amusement? He's figured out a little of his masochistic side now. "Perhaps we'll just continue as we have and see where it takes us." Kaku then does something odd. He opens his mouth to speak, and suddenly hesitates, as if he's unsure of if he should say what he was about to.

DemonOfShandora (12:54:16 AM): "Oh, it's just that..." Kaku scratches the back of his head for a moment, searching for his words. "I honestly expected this to begin as a sort of one-night stand. Something that benefitted us both at the time. Pure, unadulterated lust." He turns his gaze to Lucci, looking intensely at him with those eyes that seem far older than he really is. "But a year later, and we've long ago gone to spending these nights in each others' beds, having discussions, and...generally doing things that would suggest more than just mere lust." He looks a bit uneasy at saying such things, not sure if it's something that would earn him another hit, or even worse, one of those bitter silences.

runicbinary (1:07:35 AM): Lucci keeps his expression very carefully blank, sitting up again, because he's suddenly uncomfortable not being level with Kaku. He deflects his gaze to some interesting piece of furniture. He understands, distantly, that it took a lot for Kaku to say that, and he feels that it was probably a reasonable fear that initially kept him silent, because Lucci is discomforted with this idea, and knowing that it's true. He thinks for a long time before speaking.
"This is deeply ironic," he begins, somewhat uneasy, "but I never considered the possibility of a one-night stand. I would never jeoparize professionalism for the sake of fleeting indulgence. However, I also never considered that...this, whatever it is, would come out of that first night. I never considered that there would be anything more than...well, consistent indulgence. Anything more than a reliable outlet." He pauses to think, not quite knowing what else needs to be said. "However. You are...important, as more than a way to relieve tension. Whatever else you may be," and he knows there is a definite 'something else', but he doesn't need to say it for Kaku to know it too, "you may be the only friend I have. Have ever had." He keeps his voice completely level, casual, but saying that was one of the hardest things Lucci has done in a lifetime of hard things.

DemonOfShandora (1:11:40 AM): Kaku's eyebrows raise in distinct surprise; it's a rare expression on his face because very rarely is Lucci so frank with his words unless it is relaying all the intricate details of a plan well executed just before their target meets a very blood end. There's a surprising note of...emotion? in Lucci's voice that's both comforting and unnerving all at once. Somewhere under that cold assassin was a human being, Kaku was slowly realizing. Really, it had been callous of him to think otherwise, he realized.
"Lovers."
He says this without thinking, mostly. Immediately, he wishes that he could take back having ever even said it. Friends was good enough, wasn't it? Friends with benefits?
runicbinary (1:15:07 AM): Lucci does something incredibly unusual: he opens his mouth, and then closes it, because he hadn't known was he was going to say. For too long, he doesn't speak. "You're also the only one of those I've had. Should the definition encompass more than sex." He thinks he actually may have just realized that.
DemonOfShandora (1:18:46 AM): "Ah. Yes, me as well. I tend to not count anything done for business' sake. I have always enjoyed this." Granted, this is not much of an admission for an 18 year old, but it feels rather important to say considering.
runicbinary (1:25:31 AM): Lucci makes a sound of acknowledgment as he stares out the window. "I have as well," he points out, rather needlessly. He knows, though, that he probably would have gone at least slightly crazy in this damn city if not for having someone who understands. And who can take the brunt of Lucci's frustration.
DemonOfShandora (1:28:05 AM): "Then Isee no reason to cease something that, thus far, has not had an ill effect on our work here and that we are both enjoying. If it must have a label, then perhaps I've just given it one."
He leans to the side slightly, glanching towards the window to see what Lucci is looking at, and realizes that it is nothing. He frowns a little.
"What is it that's troubling you?"
runicbinary (1:30:34 AM): Lucci almost says "Nothing" before realizing that this is exactly the wrong context to do so. "This place," he says instead, more bitterly than intended. "We don't belong here. This is an insipid and pointless waste of our talents. And there's hardly anything to kill," he adds, sounding vaguely offended.
DemonOfShandora (1:33:00 AM): "Well, if its frustration that needs venting, I'm quite good at hiding bruises." Kaku smiles at this, knowing that a match of sorts somewhere in concealment might at least help. "But yes. It is. hopefully Mr. Iceberg will yield his information soon. After all, we, and especially Califa, were able to get into his confidences easily within a span of a short year..."
runicbinary (1:38:43 AM): "I've been holding onto that hope as hard as I can without breaking it," Lucci says flatly. He peels his gaze away from the city outside the window and transfers it back to Kaku, and the mess made out of his back earlier in the evening. "You are quite good at hiding bruises," he agrees, reaching out to trace a patch of scrapes and welts embedded onto the skin of his left shoulder, and further down, along his spine. "I should know."

runicbinary (1:45:30 AM): "You'll have to start wearing higher collars." Lucci smirks a little, running his hand back up to Kaku's neck to rub his thumb over the mark there, not too hard.
DemonOfShandora (1:46:00 AM): "Consider it done." Kaku looks over his shoulder at Lucci, his eyes glemaing slightly with devious amusement.

(He says this like it's a warning but he means it like it's a question and he lets it show juuuust a little, because for some reason Kaku knowing that Lucci doesn't want to just rape him or something is really important)

DemonOfShandora (2:15:42 AM): The sheer rawness of Lucci'swords strikes a strange chord in Kaku's brain. Whether it's hormones or something else entirely, he's not sure. MAybe this is an elaborate fantasy; he's been known to have them on his own time. XD He looks at Lucci with those eyes, they're wide and should look innocent, but they look old and not at all innocent.
"...No. No problem." He finally says in a firm tone and he kisses him this time, making sure to angle his head just right. It's abrupt.
runicbinary (2:24:11 AM): And Lucci likes that. A lot. More than he probably should. Because usually when someone tries to take the lead he just makes sure that they know exactly who is in charge. And right now he does sort of want to...exert dominance, but without crushing the force of will Kaku is showing, because that's half the reason he likes him enough to betray professionalism like this and besides it's kind of seriously turning him on. So he finds a wall and shoves Kaku against it, but doesn't actually shove him away. God forbid.

DemonOfShandora (2:31:13 AM): Kaku has no flowery ideas about sex with Lucci. He expected Lucci to be dominating and intense, but...it's true that this is a little different than expected. It's weird because there's more than just this raw sex. (He's picking up on those little admirations that Lucci has for him and how they're exhibited here). He presses back against that wall and his fingers find their way tightly into that hair by some sheer instinct, surprised that he's retained some sort of control in this situation. And his jaw still hurts like hell and his lip still tastes of blood, but it tastes of both Lucci AND blood now, and the two have always mixed so well.
runicbinary (2:48:28 AM): Lucci has no flowery ideas about sex at all; he never has, and honestly, he's never put much stock in it. Human bodies have needs and his is no different, and whenever he's gotten an urge in the past he's just found someone to take care of it with. But really enjoying it is reserved for very few and far between instances where he can find someone tough enough to take a little fight. And Kaku is...but that's not all this is about and he knows it. He's damned if he knows exactly what it's about, but he knows it means something. And that it's going to be good, because if there's one thing Lucci admires about Kaku, it's his ability to put up a fight.
DemonOfShandora (2:51:46 AM): And put up a fight he does. Even at the most painful parts, he grits his teeth and bears it, and sometimes even with a grin. It's a good thing he wears those high collared jackets because otherwise people would be asking some very unpleasant questions about the teeth and scratch marks upon his neck, back, and shoulders. But he makes a valiant effort to give a little of what he got, hoping that he left a mark SOMEWHERE on Lucci's nigh impervious body. It's also ridiculously enjoyable, MUCH better than a fantasy.
As far as Kaku knows, though, this is a one time deal. He may not like THAT part, but he'll tolerate it and move on.
runicbinary (2:54:41 AM): But he gets that opinion corrected a few days later when Lucci lunges out of a dark corner and drags him off. Because maybe part of him is hoping Kaku can leave a mark somewhere on him. (Maybe he already has.)
DemonOfShandora (2:56:40 AM): And what starts out as a few trysts here in there in their own privacy within a few days persists into a few weeks...and a few months...and before Kaku realizes it, it's been a year and they've continued this 'thing', whatever it is. I imagine Kaku to be thinking idly on it one day, and absently refers to Lucci as his 'lover' when it really strikes him.
runicbinary (3:02:30 AM): And at some point it occurs to Lucci that the fact that he hasn't slept with anyone else during this time might be due to more than the fact that it isn't worth it to bother. And it also occurs to him that the fact that he probably spends more time with Kaku than anyone else isn't just because they work well together and make good partners, and his mental categorization of Kaku as his partner may have taken on an alternate meaning...and he's angry, for a little while, that he let someone get this close.
But eventually he decides that if anyone deserved the right, it was Kaku. And that getting annoyed about it and retreating from what has somehow become a relationship, shutting Kaku out forever like his professional instincts tell him he ought to, would...just be more trouble than it's worth.

DemonOfShandora (3:13:50 AM): Kaku is silent; her's not sure if Lucci means their job or...their...them. "Whether it is, or it isn't...someone has to do it. We just happened to be the best ones for the job. I don't pretend to believe that we are righteous, but the people who end up dead by our hand do not deserve their life. If we do not take it from them, someone else will come along. Someone else, or something else. It's not pretty, but death is just another part of life."

runicbinary (11:41:00 PM): "So we serve justice," Lucci says, with total conviction, "because we have to. Karma dictates cause and effect, right and wrong, but says nothing of necessity. Karma balances the universe, but I would say that we do as well. Bringing about just punishment, impersonally, because someone must. So the simplest answer is that...it does nothing for us. But it might be accurate to say that we do quite a lot for it."
DemonOfShandora (11:42:51 PM): Kaku sort of smiles. "Or perhaps we are that karma you speak of. At least for some." He looks thoughtful, and glances over at Lucci before he sits up comfortably.
runicbinary (11:49:00 PM): Lucci sort of smiles too. He doesn't do that, normally, unless someone is getting hurt or is about to. But sometimes, in situations like this, when he's feeling perfectly comfortable and no one is around who, he's as sure as he can be, might use it against him...it's a little easier to let slip that, well, he's enjoying himself. "Perhaps. Karma is a construct of religion, and there are no gods but those that men make. But that, of course, is only one man's opinion." He smirks a little more, sitting up so that he's level with Kaku again.
DemonOfShandora (11:51:18 PM): The smile on Lucci's face sort of takes Kaku by surprise; it's a rare thing in and of itself, but especially rare in a situation where blood or death is not involved.

He watches Kaku's face, noting the slight surprise and pretending that he's taking stock, or looking for something, rather than just...looking, because he can. Which he isn't doing, of course. "Not entirely unlike government...but with the fault of being rather less firmly grounded in reality, and more susceptible to flawed interpretation."

DemonOfShandora (12:04:37 AM): "Religion was only created so that the fear of death would be eased, or to explain the world around them. I suppose some people feel more secure in thinking that some higher power guides their path and their fates. I, for one, think this is just an excuse to place the blame anywhere but their own selves. It's not the fear of God that keep people in line, but the fear of pain, of death. That is why we are so skilled at our own particular type of persuasion. And that's also why such persuasion does not work on us."
Kaku's obviously not disagreeing with Lucci on his point, but merely adding his own personal commentary to the conversation. He levels his gaze with Lucci's, though he IS partially looking simply because he can. He would never deny that Lucci was unfairly attractive, of course.
runicbinary (12:11:23 AM): "Human beings are fundamentally weak," Lucci points out. He considers this an unerring fact. "The need to draw strength and well-being from a source outside the self is only a symptom of that weakness. Rejecting that fear is the only way to truly become strong."
He's never really looked at someone before like this. He does look at everyone, takes in everything, but rarely has he taken in so much about a person without finding something that disgusts him. It's...unique, and interesting, and probably inadvisable. He doesn't stop.
DemonOfShandora (12:14:36 AM): Kaku nods his agreement to this, and notes the way that Lucci seems to be surveying him. Someone else might find the scrutiny of those intense eyes unsettling, but Kaku found it intriguing. He wondered what Lucci was looking for, if indeed he was searching for something, or what he saw. It also feels like...he's getting a very rare glimpse into some aspect of Lucci t hat no one else has ever seen. It's this feelign that makes Kaku feel at once both deeply interested and somewhat wary.
runicbinary (12:17:44 AM): Lucci finds himself wondering something he's always taken for granted. It's...odd. "Are you afraid of me?" he asks, not necessarily curious so much as expectant. Some part of him...needs to know this. He doesn't understand exactly why.
DemonOfShandora (12:18:26 AM): Kaku thinks this an odd question, and looks at Lucci. "No. Should I be?"
runicbinary (12:19:47 AM): "No," Lucci says, after a pause. That's...strange to admit. He shouldn't say anything more, he knows. "Normally I enjoy it when someone fears me."
DemonOfShandora (12:20:30 AM): Kaku smiles a little. "To be honest, I was never afraid of you. On the congrary, hearing all those rumors of you before I arrived onnly made me anticipate meeting you more." He chuckles lightly at this.
runicbinary (12:23:29 AM): Lucci doesn't smile in return; he continues to look with the same intense scrutiny and the same level expression as before. "It's interesting," he says, after a long pause. "That I like that."
DemonOfShandora (12:23:31 AM): (contrary*)
DemonOfShandora (12:26:10 AM): "Oh?" Kaku shifts slightly so that he is facing Lucci with his upper body now. "I suppose you've met very few people who were unafraid of you. Though I don't blame them considering your formidible reputation, I can hardly count myself among them." He's unabashed by the lack of a smile on Lucci's face. "Why do you find it interesting?"
runicbinary (12:51:13 AM): "Because," and this is the part that Lucci still isn't used to, still can't convince himself is normal or acceptable: letting little bits of the man show through the monster. "No one has ever been unafraid of me before. No one who isn't repugnant. I think that it should be grounds for hating you, but I don't. Instead, I find it...impressive."
DemonOfShandora (12:52:45 AM): Kaku smiled again. "That's quite a compliment," he says. "I assume that most people who are unafraid of you are simply fools or ridiculously stupid. The fact that you think I fall into neither category is almost an honor."
runicbinary (12:55:18 AM): Lucci's mind immediately drifts to Jyabura, who is not, in fact, afraid of him. He wishes it hadn't. "Good," he says, refocusing on the far less annoying matter at hand. "It should be." He smirks.
DemonOfShandora (12:56:53 AM): Kaku laughs again, quietly, and lays back down, stretching in a very comfortable fashion. He finds himself enjoying these random, sometimes oddconversations that he and Lucci have when their more physical needs were otherwise spent.
runicbinary (1:05:37 AM): Speaking of physical needs, Lucci enjoys watching Kaku stretch like that; he's not bulky by any means, but every inch of him is hard muscle, as their profession demands. Lucci likes that. Just another advantage of being with someone closer to his level...

"Hmm," he says, a sound at the crossroads of curious, distracted, perturbed, and confused.
DemonOfShandora (1:06:22 AM): "Eh?" Kaku opens his eyes, pausing in mid stretch, and looks at Lucci with a mild look of confusion. "What is it?"

runicbinary (1:20:31 AM): Lucci is in the awkward position of having found himself vaguely curious as to the state of their...well...them, and not being able to ask about it without revealing more than he wants to. Besides, it's an unimportant question - a stupid one, frankly, and one that Lucci knows better than to get into. He does know better. And yet.
"Nothing, really," he says eventually, lying back and propping his head on one hand so that he can look down at Kaku. After a moment, he adds "I was just considering how tragic it would be for all the available citizens of Water 7 if they ever discovered that I'm off the market."
DemonOfShandora (1:23:19 AM): This gets Kaku's attention most soundly. He turns his head very quickly to regard Lucci, unable to hide the expression of surprise on his face. Of course, considering that this has been going on for nearly a year or more and it seemed to show no signs of stopping, perhaps his reaction was unneccesary. But this is Rob Lucci we are talking about. He never did seem the type to be, well, taken.
After a moment, Kaku realizes that he probably looks VERY foolish with the way he is staring, and tries to come up with something appropriate to say.
"Off the market, you say?" he finally manages.
runicbinary (1:29:18 AM): Lucci is not one for insecurity or regret, but he does consider that...perhaps he's gone too far. And that perhaps it would have been best if he'd kept his goddamn mouth shut like his perfectly reasonable and reliable instincts told him to. But he did start it, and he's going to follow it through. "Human beings are fundamentally weak," he says again, with half a shrug. "It's more trouble than it's worth to find one it's possible to put up with."
DemonOfShandora (1:31:48 AM): Kaku is silent for a moment. "...Another compliment. I think you're on a roll this evening." It's only lightly teasing, in a completely good-natured way, but in fact, Kaku feels deeply...well, he's not sure how he feels. Becoming actually, well, involved with Lucci was not something he expected. Thought about once, over a year ago before this happened, but never truly anticipated it actually occuring.
"You had to beat me senseless several times and hit me in the jaw before you decided I was worth the trouble..."
runicbinary (1:37:49 AM): Lucci decides to refrain from comment on being called out on his compliments. Instead, he rolls over to lie on his back, looking up at the cieling in the best impression of utter nonchalance he knows how to do (which, all things considered, is pretty damn good). "Beating you senseless was only half of it. I had to know several things about you, as well. And hitting you in the jaw was because I was angry," he adds, in a perfectly reasonable tone of voice.
DemonOfShandora (12:04:34 AM): "You pull your punches when you strike Paulie." This is stated as a fact rather than something bad. Kaku's tone is even. "But never with me. Some people might take this to mean that you favor him, but..." Kaku shakes his head a little. "No. It's because you know that he is not worthy of your full strength. At least, that's what I think; I could be mistaken. But it's because you favor me that you strike with your full ability." He gives Lucci an intent look. "You're very good at wearing that mask; you should be, of course. But in a year of being...whatever we are...you've let me see a few things that no one else has been privileged to see. It's...a bit of an honor, really."
runicbinary (12:11:12 AM): Lucci turns to look at Kaku as he speaks, but says nothing, remaining expressionless and silent for the duration of that observation. He continues to look on blank and wordless for awhile after, considering the thought. "A few things I never meant for you to see," he says quietly. At least, I never thought I did. After a pause, he adds, darkly, "But you're right. And I won't pretend to dislike it, that you saw them, anyway. It probably wouldn't fool you."
runicbinary (12:19:23 AM): "And I find you intriguing for a variety of reasons, that being one of them." Lucci has the distinct impression that he's let Kaku too far under his armor, that he won't be able to force him back out, and that he doesn't want to. It's...unsettling, but it's also something strange and unusual that he's almost tempted to qualify as...pleasant. If being with Kaku has taught him anything, it's that no man is an island - a distant peninsula reachable only at low tide and surrounded by sharks and riptides, perhaps, but eventually, someone is going to make the trip, no matter how dangerous. And Kaku managed to come out unscathed. If anyone's worthy of being let into Rob Lucci's world, it's him. "There may be few people in this world I can trust, but there is only one I can trust to this degree." It's probably the biggest concession Lucci has made...maybe ever.
DemonOfShandora (12:27:55 AM): Kaku feels a curious rush of adrenaline at this small admission; he recognizes that the sort of trust Lucci means is not the type used in business. This ran deeper, and it struck an odd chord in Kaku's mind. Of course, Kaku knew that Lucci means him, and did not need to ask such for clarification. He nods instead after a moment.
"The question is going to be just how much are we willing to entrust to each other, and for how long."
runicbinary (12:35:24 AM): That's a question Lucci hadn't considered, having never put much real thought into this...whatever it is, before. He almost wants to ask Kaku what he means, knowing that Kaku is more acquainted with basic human behavior than he is...which is frustrating, but occasionally useful. "Honestly," he says slowly, after awhile, "I don't know. It wouldn't have occurred to me to...set boundaries."
DemonOfShandora (12:45:55 AM): "Hm." Kaku sits up again and rests his elbows on his knees, hunched over slightly in thought. His hair is nicely mussed and the sheets shift so he's probably pretty much uncovered. Just because. "I really don't think that either of us had intended for this to continue as it has. As for boundaries, well...Ithink we're past the point of that." He glances at a few of the fresh scratches, bruises, and bitemarks that riddle his skin with vague amusement? He's figured out a little of his masochistic side now. "Perhaps we'll just continue as we have and see where it takes us." Kaku then does something odd. He opens his mouth to speak, and suddenly hesitates, as if he's unsure of if he should say what he was about to.

DemonOfShandora (12:54:16 AM): "Oh, it's just that..." Kaku scratches the back of his head for a moment, searching for his words. "I honestly expected this to begin as a sort of one-night stand. Something that benefitted us both at the time. Pure, unadulterated lust." He turns his gaze to Lucci, looking intensely at him with those eyes that seem far older than he really is. "But a year later, and we've long ago gone to spending these nights in each others' beds, having discussions, and...generally doing things that would suggest more than just mere lust." He looks a bit uneasy at saying such things, not sure if it's something that would earn him another hit, or even worse, one of those bitter silences.

runicbinary (1:07:35 AM): Lucci keeps his expression very carefully blank, sitting up again, because he's suddenly uncomfortable not being level with Kaku. He deflects his gaze to some interesting piece of furniture. He understands, distantly, that it took a lot for Kaku to say that, and he feels that it was probably a reasonable fear that initially kept him silent, because Lucci is discomforted with this idea, and knowing that it's true. He thinks for a long time before speaking.
"This is deeply ironic," he begins, somewhat uneasy, "but I never considered the possibility of a one-night stand. I would never jeoparize professionalism for the sake of fleeting indulgence. However, I also never considered that...this, whatever it is, would come out of that first night. I never considered that there would be anything more than...well, consistent indulgence. Anything more than a reliable outlet." He pauses to think, not quite knowing what else needs to be said. "However. You are...important, as more than a way to relieve tension. Whatever else you may be," and he knows there is a definite 'something else', but he doesn't need to say it for Kaku to know it too, "you may be the only friend I have. Have ever had." He keeps his voice completely level, casual, but saying that was one of the hardest things Lucci has done in a lifetime of hard things.

DemonOfShandora (1:11:40 AM): Kaku's eyebrows raise in distinct surprise; it's a rare expression on his face because very rarely is Lucci so frank with his words unless it is relaying all the intricate details of a plan well executed just before their target meets a very blood end. There's a surprising note of...emotion? in Lucci's voice that's both comforting and unnerving all at once. Somewhere under that cold assassin was a human being, Kaku was slowly realizing. Really, it had been callous of him to think otherwise, he realized.
"Lovers."
He says this without thinking, mostly. Immediately, he wishes that he could take back having ever even said it. Friends was good enough, wasn't it? Friends with benefits?
runicbinary (1:15:07 AM): Lucci does something incredibly unusual: he opens his mouth, and then closes it, because he hadn't known was he was going to say. For too long, he doesn't speak. "You're also the only one of those I've had. Should the definition encompass more than sex." He thinks he actually may have just realized that.
DemonOfShandora (1:18:46 AM): "Ah. Yes, me as well. I tend to not count anything done for business' sake. I have always enjoyed this." Granted, this is not much of an admission for an 18 year old, but it feels rather important to say considering.
runicbinary (1:25:31 AM): Lucci makes a sound of acknowledgment as he stares out the window. "I have as well," he points out, rather needlessly. He knows, though, that he probably would have gone at least slightly crazy in this damn city if not for having someone who understands. And who can take the brunt of Lucci's frustration.
DemonOfShandora (1:28:05 AM): "Then Isee no reason to cease something that, thus far, has not had an ill effect on our work here and that we are both enjoying. If it must have a label, then perhaps I've just given it one."
He leans to the side slightly, glanching towards the window to see what Lucci is looking at, and realizes that it is nothing. He frowns a little.
"What is it that's troubling you?"
runicbinary (1:30:34 AM): Lucci almost says "Nothing" before realizing that this is exactly the wrong context to do so. "This place," he says instead, more bitterly than intended. "We don't belong here. This is an insipid and pointless waste of our talents. And there's hardly anything to kill," he adds, sounding vaguely offended.
DemonOfShandora (1:33:00 AM): "Well, if its frustration that needs venting, I'm quite good at hiding bruises." Kaku smiles at this, knowing that a match of sorts somewhere in concealment might at least help. "But yes. It is. hopefully Mr. Iceberg will yield his information soon. After all, we, and especially Califa, were able to get into his confidences easily within a span of a short year..."
runicbinary (1:38:43 AM): "I've been holding onto that hope as hard as I can without breaking it," Lucci says flatly. He peels his gaze away from the city outside the window and transfers it back to Kaku, and the mess made out of his back earlier in the evening. "You are quite good at hiding bruises," he agrees, reaching out to trace a patch of scrapes and welts embedded onto the skin of his left shoulder, and further down, along his spine. "I should know."

DemonOfShandora (1:41:55 AM): Kaku chuckles vaguely. "Yes, you should." He shifts a little, enjoying the light touch despite the slight pain it brings from the tender marks. "And by the looks of things, I will have to increase my aptitude in said skill." He tilts his head to the side to reveal one well placed mark along the side of his neck.
runicbinary (1:45:30 AM): "You'll have to start wearing higher collars." Lucci smirks a little, running his hand back up to Kaku's neck to rub his thumb over the mark there, not too hard.
DemonOfShandora (1:46:00 AM): "Consider it done." Kaku looks over his shoulder at Lucci, his eyes glemaing slightly with devious amusement.
