: Real User Monitoring (RUM) is a method used to monitor the performance of a website in the real world. RUM services aggregate and report performance data from real users' interactions with a website so that website developers can fix the issues most detrimental to site UX.
: Core Web Vitals are a set of UX metrics developed by Google. The metrics quantify key aspects of the user experience on a website, including perceived load time, responsiveness to interactions, and the visual stability of UI elements and content. The Core Web Vitals initiative was launched in 2020, and sites' CWV scores now factor into Google's search ranking algorithm.
: We collect the Core Web Vitals metrics, augmented with metadata about the particular cause(s) of the metric value. This metadata capture and aggregation is the secret sauce of rumdash.io.
: The rumdash.io script is less than 6 KB compressed, or about 1/9th the size of Google Analytics(!), and it defers its work until the browser is idle to keep your site as responsive as possible 🚀
: The rumdash.io script uses a front-end technology called localStorage. If you already have a consent banner referencing the use of 'cookies and similar technologies', you're covered, as localStorage qualifies as a similar technology. If you don't, you'll have to add one.
: If we see that you're on track to exceed your monthly page-view quota, we'll throttle your ingest to evenly distribute it through the end of the month (so you don't end up with seemingly empty pockets of data) and we'll reach out to you to discuss your options.
