How to Sync Users between WordPress Sites?
Add sites you would like to sync users with
This is the only required configuration step – please go to Settings > User Sync and switch to the Sites tab. Here you can add as many websites as you want to sync users with.
Configure plugin settings
Once the target sites are connected, it is time to configure the plugin. However, this step may be optional, if you’re perfectly fine with the default plugin settings.
You can navigate to the settings page via the dashboard menu, Settings > User Sync:
The following plugin settings are available on this page:
- Allowed Roles – this option allows you to decide, users with which roles are even available for the synchronization. By default, users with any role can be synced, however, you can set a restriction here.
- Auto Sync – by default, a checklist with connected sites is displayed when adding or editing a user. With this option, you can automatically sync users to all added sites without selecting specific sites.
- User Deletion – when this checkbox is checked, when you delete a user, the user will be automatically deleted from all connected sites.
Aside from that, sometimes you need to sync only specific user data – for example, you may want the users to have different roles across the sites.
To configure it, you need to switch to the “Fields” tab.
Start syncing users
In order to share users between sites, you need to select a checkbox of a specific website in the profile settings (or on the “Add New User” page).
No need to select checkboxes in user profiles with the Auto Sync option enabled, though – the users will be automatically synced with all the sites added in plugin settings.
Bulk Sync Multiple Users to Another WordPress Site
The plugin also comes with a feature that allows you to select multiple users at once from the Users > All Users page and then sync them in one click to a specific target website (one of the websites you should’ve already added by now).
