Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic (CFRP) is preferred for high-end bicycles due to its strength, stiffness, and low weight. However, CFRP is susceptible to damage from impact, misuse, or manufacturing defects. Phased array ultrasonic testing (PAUT) is proposed as a reliable method for detecting flaws in CFRP components. Two case studies demonstrate the effectiveness of PAUT in detecting hidden damage, which is later confirmed through sectioning.
