The thought of a life in Satele's court is exhausting. Though some people, like Lord Marinacci, seem to thrive in those kind of environments. I wonder if all of Lord Marinacci's business endeavors are legitimate...

As for the "historical beef," if nothing else, it demonstrates that the Santinettas and the Marinaccis fall on opposite sides, both politically and morally, and have done so for a couple of centuries. So, yes, it foreshadows future conflict, with Grania caught between them.
