God, I love this icon, I love this woman! Thanks crown_the_queen

Lots have happened since my last real post. I have many new friends on my list now, thanks to the Mrs. Robinson group. It was so nice to find a place that celebrates these talented and beautiful older women. My mom thinks I should write a book called "In Praise of the Older Woman" and take the photos myself. I might just do that someday. Who wouldn't want to photograph someone like a Deneuve or Mirren?

So many of you know that I am taking my Senior year abroad in South Africa. I am so excited and thrilled to be going. For a while I was very nervous about the violence and racial aspects of my visit. I am stil taking this giant step with trepidation but I really need to DO IT!
My fears have been somewhat assuaged since my host family have contacted me and they sound like the nicest people. They live in East London, South Africa and have one daughter and two precious dogs. East London is a seaport town with some of the best beaches in the country, I guess I know where I'll be:) I am excited to meet them and learn about their way of life.

The school year is coming to a close in a week, THANK GOD--I thought I might go nuts! I have passed ALL of the required courses and can look forward to my Diploma next July! WOOOHOOO finally! I still am not sure of my college plans but I have the year to think of what my strategy can be. That's one reason I am going, to think. as Henry David Thoreau said that the best place to think is nature and I am sure going to a place where nature is abundent.

Hmmm I am still ridicolously obsessed with DENEUVE! Now I've seen:
1. Place Vendome
2. Indochine '
3. 8 femmes
4. Les Voleurs
5. Dancer in the Dark
6. The Convent
7. The Hunger (totally makes me think that I'm a lesbian!)
8. (about half of) Belle De Jour and Umbrellas of Cherbourg.

Dear Journal Viewers,

Well as many of you know or now will know, I took an amazing ten-day tour through Europe this Easter break. I wouldn't have traded it for anything, I am so thankful to my parents for giving me the oppurtunity!
Our wonderful group of highschoolers and chaperones--35 total, went through 3 major cities (Paris, Brussels, and Amsterdam) and took three mini-trips (Bruges, Antwerp, and a little town outside of Amsterdam that I forget the name of!).

I decided then and there that I am determined to live in Europe! It's truly amazing, so much history and a true culture!

So without further adieu here are the long awaited photos--there are lots! They speak for themselves.

Spring Break = EUROPE!

Dear Journal Viewers,

Its been a long time. What like 10 weeks or so? I don't know, this year has been such a year of change and growth for me. As many of you know I will be spending my Senior year (in high school) abroad in South Africa. So I've been very much preparing my life,family and FRIENDS for that departure. I can't believe it, that's only 3 months away or little more than that. I'm slated to leave either at the end of July or early August and I won't return home to the U.S. untill July of 2009. But I do know that I really need this whole going away thing, I've started to get very bored with myself, and I just need to strech my wings and reinvent.

Anyway. I went to Paris, Amsterdam, Brussels,and Bruges this break. And is was AMAZING!! I ate waaaay to much food, but the food is great! And I'm so moving to Paris, its like my favorite place on earth. It seems to me that Europeans live so much fuller lives than many here in my part of the U.S. I just felt so free when I was there. Is is just me or are the men in Europe, just so hot?? gahh I loved the French men lol I'm so marrying one of them or a Brit!
Anyway I had a blast and I want to go back!

I'll post some pictures soon, I don't want to clog anyone's friends page.

Dear Journal Viewers,

Its been awhile. Too long..Well I might as well get to the big news...So I applied to be a foreign exchange student for the 2008-09 school year or my Senior year of high school. And I got accepted and I will be living in South Africa.

I'm absolutely terrified,to be honest. I guess I got what I wanted though, I have dreamed of Africa. But I'm scared becasue for those who have never seen a photo of me, I'm hispanic, so not white or black. And well South Africa doesn't have the best race history (neither does the U.S. but I think we're finally getting there.) So that's a concern, and my only concern.
WHAT do YOU think??

On the other hand any family applying to house an exchange student must be fairly forward thinking, don't ya think? And I could be totally wrong my family could be free-thinking hippies...its a world of unknowns..

But if I lose hope--I can look to the natural beauty surrounding me....Hey my guidance counseleur said, I should be the role model to show that Yes! we all can live in harmony and don't have to kill and hate because of our differences. And I'm with the Rotary program and that's their moto!

Okies on a lighter note!!
Well maybe not lighter, I was soo shocked to hear of Heath Ledger's passing. I seriously thought my radio was lying to me!! My good friend owns like all his films and she wore black today, soo it was very sad.
Now for the lighter note the ACADEMY AWARDS are out!! Yeah for Julie Christie!! I haven't seen any of the films yet, except Away from Her! Go rent it, its soo brillant and sad!

I'm also going to Paris! I'm soo excited,gahh I'm totally geeky enough to think I'm gonna run into Juliette Binoche and Catherine Denueve! Its soo lame--OOO!

A New Header, lots of News...

Dear Journal Viewers,

Soo sorry that I haven't updated or written in 12 weeks!! I can't believe it. First an enormous shout-out to AIJA!!! For she has made my new header, featuring the two best actresses EVER, Juliette Binoche and Helen Mirren. She also wished me a Happy Birthday on the 25th of October, no I didn't forget:)(That really made my day:)

Secondly the icons that have been appearing recently are soo beautiful, a big THANK-YOU to all who have made them!

So much has happened since my last entry. First of all I got my highest GPA (grade point average) ever, for first quarter. A 3.8!! (Which for those outside of the U.S., this is a great thing!!) So I've been studying fairly hard, my classes are so fantastic too. My favorite course this semester is Human Rights and Conflict. Its amazing and its really changed the way I look at the world. FYI see The Last King of Scotland and In My Country..we deal with genocide.

So school is great! Because the last few years its been difficult finding motivation. On the subject of school, over spring break (in March) I (yes Lil Jane) is going to freakin' PARIS!!!! With my art history class, on a European tour, we will also be going to Amsterdam and Belgium:)I'm extatic and can't wait!

So clearly there are many things occupying me, I will try to post more often. I do enjoy reading everyone's journals, and viewing their beautiful icons. Love to ALL Happy Thanksgiving!

Hey All,
ohh myy i looked down and I realized that I hadn't updated this for 5 weeks!! OMg soo sorry.
Well just to say I've been a road trip for three weeks and I've been ALL over the continental U.S its been really beautiful and wonderful. This is one summer where i hope at the start of school, they ask for a what i did on my summer vacation essay. If i have to write on I'm thinking of titling it "The Summer Of Magical Thinking" ala Joan Didion. Well it certainly was a magical summer. Soo lovely and soo many things happened. I started driving and drove about 800 miles and my doggie and i got way close. I love my pupster. But most importantly I realized that life is okay.I can do many things and learn from all aspects of life. The animals, the people, the art, and happiness. I am very opptomistic about the coming school year and college. Everything will work out, it always does.
And i also read Harry Potter seven, which was amazingly brillant. Jk Rowling gave it a fitting end and it was just excellent the way it was.

Ohh for the enertainment news Well i have fallin love with Julie Christie and the ClOSER!!!

Sorry I haven't written in awhile. My mom was out of town and I was staying with my neighbors this past week. It was fun, its my best friend's family and soo me and my bestie aka Julia had soo much fun. There was one night were we laughed for a half an hour hehehe and we cried--it was awesome. Then we saw Harry Potter!! OMG its the most awesomest thing ever!! Daniel Radcliffe is hot *drools*
This one is for Holzie:) hehhe

I think my favorite part was Helena Bohnam Carter's Bellatrix Lestrange hehe she was fabulous now the only person missing is Helen in the cast which is like all the thespians of England

well any goo see it!

Soo i started driving last week too-hehe it was fun and not to scary soo thank goodness!I only gave my mom heart failure once when turning into our drive way a little fast and she was like ***STOP***!!!!!
hhee but its going really well, soo far.

CAUTION MY LJ IS BEING SABATOGED BY BARBARA COVETT!!!
Soo I watched "Notes on a Scandal" yesterday, starrring the fabulous Cate Blanchett and evily divine Dame Judi Dench!! What is it with these Dames???? They are taking over lets's see Dame Helen, Judi, and Eileen! Is Vanessa Redgrave a Dame??

--Oh wait before I get to the juicy movie--There is a new movie called "Evening" and it has a star-studed cast including Meryl Streep, Vannessa Redgrave, Glenn Close, Natasha Richardson, Toni Collete, Mamie Gummer (aka Meryl's daughter:),and Claire Danes. I'm actually surprised that the film didn't explode with that much talent in one room! I mean the best actresses of the last 30 years!! hmmm I'm going to see it!

Wow soo now onto "Notes." Well it was absolutely brillant!! Somehow through the acting and music and direction--the audience manages to feel utterly trapped in the claustrophobic world of two terribly lonely souls.

So in conclusion-- this film really makes you think and question. I really enjoyed it! Wow---still in shock! Soo everyone needs to go watch it. Go see "Evening" too! Also the new Julie Christie movie "Away from Her" to bad there's no Dame Helen stuff to see:(

Back from Camp!

Dear Journal Viewers--

what to say!!Happy 4th to the Americans out there..
Or belated 4th!
Mine was awesome as usual---truly American!! The fireworks were great except my poor puppy was sooo frantic--but he calmed down at like 2 am! And luckily there weren't very many amateur pyrotechies out there--soo more quiet than usual!!
Before that I was away at camp!! oh myyynyyy! I like totally alomost died in this river--we were tubing down it and I like flipped out of my tube ekkkkk! And then was being bashed around by rapids--I was sooo scared--thank god I'm okay--but all I could think was "one false move and I could be seriously injured--So other than that camp was awesome!!

Soo As for u Helen-aolics out there--I've been enjoying many new pics!!

Soo I found this and thought it was awesome!!

Soo that's all for now! I'm watching Notes on a Scandal tonight--So I'll have a full review of it tommorow!! heehhe beware:)

Soo I really liked that quote and it seems to me all the people here live very deeply and in the moment.

In acting my teachers are always talking about that "in the moment" and I never understood why I couldn't go there. And I realized it was fear,of the unknown, what would people think. And I remember sitting in my mid-year evaluation and both my acting teachers telling me to Let Go. And then of two magical occasions it did. I let go.

The first happened as I was attempting a scene from "Antony and Cleopatra", I was Cleopatra and I was sitting in my tomb and delivering my monologue and it just happend, I wasn't worried about anything else just being Lady Cleo and it was freeing as nothing else. I wonder if this closeness to yourself, but more importantly your character, happens to the best of actors. All I know is I want that feeling everytime, I set foot on a stage or on a film screen.

The second time it happened was when in scene with one of my best friends. We were llyena and Sonya from "Uncle Vanya" and something happened to both of us. We just lived there inside our little, yet complicated scene. It was amazing, especially if someone is willing to ge there with you.
I don't know why I'm sharing this story with you, its just I feel soo happy when I do, I'm freed.

So yesterday was a blast! I shot my first commercial in 94 degree weather, it was awesome! We were all sweating like stuffed pigs and the make-up people kept having to blot our faces! So all in all it was really fun, i think everyone should do it once in their lives....
Then my friend Alex and I( he also shot the commercial w/me) went and had lunch in an awesome resturante in Little Italy..YUMMY!

Then I got home and well my puppy hasn't been doing too well and we had him on TRANKS yesterday, since we were gone all day, and he was stumbling around..it was quite comical and pathetic.

Then puppy and owner sat and watched "Losing Chase" and imagined swiming off the coast of Martha's Vineyard...and how cool it must be...

Soo I've been having a very fun day! And I've been thinking alot about "Cal"...I need to rewatch it! Now that I kind of understand the politics. Nothing much is happening right now --its a lazy summer day.....the best kind of days...its soo nice and warm here, not too hot! Thank God, it gets humid here..

Driving is going well! We've just finished up ALL the depressing car crash videos and the videos about teens and alcohol and driving, they always scare the heck out of me! That's the reason I don't want to drive, there are soo many idiots out there!
And here in the States the road rage is BAD! Soo all I can say is will be careful and keep safe out there on the road!

Soo I have a little beagle whose name is Buddy and he gets soo anxsious and we have to put him on meds...AWWWWW poor puppy!

Well first off I would like to give a huge shout out to Liz and Maggie for helping me figure out this whole LJ thing and especially for the beautiful Jane header because I love PS soo much..totally watched PS6 yesterday!
Ahhem..wow soo glad summer is here finally this year was sure hellish for me but I had a great time romping and prancing about in Shakespeare's woods of "A Midsummer Night's Dream!"

Ohh about that picture up there..well I think that's soo hillarous because I mean Helen and P.Diddy??? lolol lmao! Class meets well...homie yo!
I have nothing terribly interesting to say except I'm learning to drive and its a rather scary prospect! Soo I guess that's all folks!!

Dear Journal Viewers,
Soo yet another week at boring skool..Soo some wonderful person has uploaded two more Helen films on Youtube, Cal and Age of Consent.

Soo I'll start with Cal..Wow this film was really intense. To be honest I was wasn't sure how it was going to end. Also I don't know if I liked the ending although its very realistic. I don't know I expected some big explosion from Cal and Marcela and it didn't happen. But again the ending very realistic and bittersweet. Also I don't know much about the politics and I was very confused in the middle of the film. So if someone could give me a brief summary of the Irish politics at this time that would be great! So Helen did a very nice accent and she looked gorgeous as usual. Her performance was soo understated, she really was very good, but you all know that! The guy who was Cal was really exceptional too, so fragile and delicate and worn, yet soo loving and peaceful. I thought the film was really touching and beautiful and sad. I thought that when Marcela was like "Can you imagine the forgiveness in that woman, she took communion with her daughter's murderer" (or something to that effect) iDK it was just soo powerful because here she is with Cal, and I won't say anymore for those who haven't seen it. But I sat and stared for awhile after it ended, now you know its a good film when you do that!

Ok Age of Consent..wow funny!! Soo I'm not into 60s beach partay movies but this was adorable, and Helen was soo young. Soo I think my favorite character is the cute little dog, Godfrey he was sooo adorable. And I was very jealous as I love to swim and then helen is swimming in the Great Barrier Reef, omg Not Fair! So I'd probably search for Nemo and Dori if I went there! lol hehehe
