I'm not dead... I've just been in hibernation for a while. What can I say, but RL isn't exactly accommodating (also there are no good LJ Mobile apps). But I think it's time I started posting again. I'm still writing, and making graphics. I will have more fandomy things soon. For now, just wanted to test the waters.
(not that anyone will really see this, I'm sure most people have purged me after 2 years of inactivity) ^_^

P.S. spiritualenergy, I almost bought you one. If you want it (for christmas) let me know, and I'll get one for you. But I didn't know if you'd be interested... -_-
I almost bought one last time, and then I didn't and I've been kicking myself for 6 months. BUT NOW I HAVE ONE, and I'M SO FRICKEN GLAD I DID.
I would like to remind you all that once, there was quality in movies, books, and shows. Just because everything is made of degraded suckage now doesn't mean that we should all settle and forget the epicness that has once been made.
Don't settle for run-of-the-mill, cliche, average, mediocre-at-best quality.
We should demand better fandoms to fangirl.
and better fangirls to join with
This is my rallying cry.
Stand up for your right as a fangirl, and seek better fandoms.
Be classy, be mature, be talented.
Don't stoop to the level of pathetic self-insert idolization. Remember the once-great heroes, heroines and truly original Love stories that brought us into fandom. Remember character flaws and plot development. Remember realistic dialogue and witty repartee. Remember plot twists and heart-wretching urst. Remember the drama and action and romance that once made you a FAN.
Think of your first fandom.
What was it that drew you into this world?
Is there a fandom worthy of that same zeal today? Or have we all just forgotten what it was like to be truly inspired by the creativity of others? Just because publishers, networks, and production studios have lowered their standards for quality, that doesn't mean that WE should.
Fight back against there’s-nothing-else-on, fight back against not-that-bad, fight back against it-gets-better-the-more-you-watch-it.
Demand LOVE AT FIRST TRAILER. Demand INSTA-OBSESSION.
Try to remember a time when fandom didn't influence canon.
Canon was canon, independent of fandom.
We should praise creativity and ingenuity, not below-average character and plot development for the sake of cliche pseudo-EPICness.
Say no to the degredation of American Literature. (We're already way behind on the world stage.)
We should strive to make fandom greater by choosing carefully what and why we fangirl.
I implore you, look in your fangirl hearts and decide for yourself, are these really the legacies we want to leave behind for future fangirls?
So, I read this on SMeyers official site just a few seconds ago. Midnight Sun was leaked.
Conclusion = LMAO (literally)
She.is.such.a.n00b. It's almost too funny, almost.
She's all *shock of shocks* my book was released without my permission. First, welcome to the club. Second, did you really think it wouldn't happen (especially if you GAVE OUT COPIES)????? And Third, whoever did it was probably under the impression that since BD was the biggest EPIC FAIL in the history of fandom, there was no way in HELL that a publisher would take a chance to publish anything else in this series. Seriously. That would be my guess.
Personally, I read the first chapter a long time ago and it was crap. Edward is still the worst character of ALL TIME. God, why would anyone want to read the EXACT SAME story, but from a character with even LESS personality??? I don't get it.
But the one shinning moment in all this??? "If I tried to write Midnight Sun now, in my current frame of mind, James would probably win and all the Cullens would die"
HA HA HA HA HA HA HA (I'm still laughing) Because this is THE BEST IDEA SMeyers HAS EVER COME UP WITH! DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So, I went to my first anime convention. A small one in Miami. I don't know how I survived without it.
I hung out with the coolest people, and fangirled SO HARD I almost lost my voice. Next year -- I will dress up. I don't know as what yet, but I will. And it will be amazing.
So, I've avoided this subject for long enough. I think it's time to issue Ash's official stance on Breaking Dawn. ( behind the cutCollapse )
Aside from the obvious, "I'm in fandom at all" and "I love crack-ships" I recently joined in the fangirling joy of the Doctor Who fandom, shipping wars and all (icons, fics, comms, ect...) despite the fact that I've seen, maybe, 1 episode. And now I'm all, "TEN/ROSE is BEAUTIFUL SOUL-MATE-LOVE!!!!11!" Oh, god. I even read RPF. *is ashamed*
Between that and Soul Eater (which I already have a crack-ship comm up and running souleater_crack), I'm convinced that there is something chemically wrong with my brain. I'm on episode 3. *laments*
That, and, I can't stop FIC from eating my soul. I can't stop coming up with ideas, or writing. Please, someone, stop me.
EXAMPLE: NARUTO
An Exercise in Futility: Sakura likes the way it feels when she lays next to her, wrapped up in sheets and limbs and teeth (Ino/Sakura). Drabble | NC-17
TWILIGHT
Surrender: I've got blood in my mouth 'cause I've been biting my tongue all week. (Jacob/Leah) Drabble
SAKURA SHIPS DRABBLE-A-THON The goal is to get at least one drabble for every Sakura ship. And we do mean EVERY. Come over to pinkcrack and join in the drabble-a-thon.
I start to write. I've got an idea, and a plot... sometimes even a completely thought-out idea (ending and all). And no sooner have I got 5 pages of it written than I start a new fic. I'm (for serious) in the middle of writing something like 13 fics (in 10 different fandoms). And when I say 'in the middle' I mean, it's really, like, half-way (or in some cases even more than that) done.
I have a mental block against FINISHING!!! WTF is that about? Some of these are good fics. Decent writing, pretty solid plot, character exploration, some SEX... why can't I just finish them! It's so frustrating.
*MUST STOP SHIPPING... & THINKING... & WATCHING ANYTHING. I have Fan-Brain syndrome. I am physically incapable of watching something and NOT immediately drafting fics in my head. Christ, I can't even enjoy a movie without cataloging shipping moments, approximating time lines, and formulating a story to suit my ficcing needs. *sighs*
I saw the Twilight trailer, and I have to say - I'm pretty excited about it. It looks like they changed the characters/situations a lot (which makes me all warm and happy). Bella seems more angsty, and their relationship is much darker. I think I might actually like Movie!Bella, as opposed to Book!Edward!Bella, who just makes me want to vomit, because she is the worst female character of all time. And, Edward doesn't seem so, "oh, I have to protect you from EVERYTHING" now. Overall, I'm really looking forward to seeing how the movie improves the book. Oh... and Emmett was *HOT* In fact, I was so impressed, I even went out and got me a new, shiny icon. In honor of my favorite moment in the book, and the BEST part of the trailer. I'm excited.
And... what else? I know I have more fangirling to do... but I can't think of anything else just now. So, maybe more later. :)
I just wanted to say that I'm not unfriending people. I just don't have as much time to spend on LJ anymore, so I've had to stop watching a lot of my favorite groups and friends. Unfortunately, you can't stop waiting a one-way friend without unfriending them, and the same with closed communities.
I'm not going snob-a-rific. Just trying to cut the number of clubs and peoples down to a manageable number. To give you a 'for instance' I'm a member of 364 communities, but I only watch 53. I also have 16 feeds and 65 friends. I had to do a little pruning. So, it wasn't just people. I cut way back on the number of communities I was in/watching.
That's all. I hope I didn't offend anyone.
Also, I'm watching season 1 of Heroes, and it's SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO good! Thanks, spiritualenergy for letting be borrow it!
