I wrote this little story as a response to Miguel S. Macrodosing Fiction prompt 100mg on surprise. Then I posted it in a note. And now it’s featured in TiF Team. I think it’s earned a permanent place in Airings!
‘Hey! Who’s there?’
‘Sh-h. Don’t shout.’
‘Boss? Jees, you freaked me out.’
‘I did?’
‘Yeah! Come to the old car park tonight, eleven sharp. On a postie? Anonymous?’
‘Well. Sorry.’
‘Listen, if this is about the pills…’
‘What pills?’
‘No one will notice. We’re the bloody paramedics, right?’
‘What are you talking about?’
‘The morphine… But I had to sell it, man, for the restaurant. It’s my birthday! You should’ve seen my father-in-low’s face when I took the cheque. Ha!’
‘Err, you shouldn’t have told me that.’
‘What?’
A sudden flood of light.
Horns hoot, headlights blink and everyone’s screaming, ‘Surprise!’

Yes, this is a wondeful microfiction! Love the twist!
