YOU’RE LOST BUT DON’T WANT TO GIVE UP
Small ways to make you feel happy again.
As a new generation of young adults, we carry big dreams and even bigger pressure to succeed.
We have goals to chase, timelines to meet, and expectations — ours and others’ — to fulfill. But then, somewhere along the way, everything suddenly feels… meaningless.
You start asking yourself:
What’s the point of all this?
Am I making the right decision?
Will I make my parents proud, or will my future self regret everything I’m doing now?
You feel lost. You feel disconnected from yourself.
And in this moment, you need to know something important:
You’re not alone.
Feeling lost is something almost everyone goes through, especially between the ages of 18 to 24.
It’s between this phase, where you’re not a child anymore, but you haven’t “figured it all out” either.
But even if it feels dark and confusing right now, there is still hope.
You don’t need to have it all figured out.
You don’t have to follow anyone else’s path.
You don’t have to achieve amazing results overnight.
What you do need are small, honest steps — just one at a time — to reconnect with the real you.
The version of yourself that got lost while you were trying to impersonate someone else.
So here are a few gentle ways to help you feel like yourself again.
No pressure. No perfection. Just real, doable things.
✍️ 1. Get Yourself a Journal — Not Some Fancy One
Just grab a notebook or open the notes app on your phone, and write.
Anything that comes to mind — thoughts, emotions, memories, dreams, fears, to-do lists, whatever.
You’re not being dramatic or trying to be deep.
You’re just letting it out.
Let those unspoken words and quiet feelings flow. Even those “impossible dreams.”
It’s all safe with you.
Writing helps you hear your voice again.
And only when you truly hear yourself can healing begin.
🪨 2. When Everything Feels Out of Control, Find One Thing to Ground You
When life feels too chaotic, you don’t need a 5-step routine or a big project.
You just need one small thing to hold on to.
Something grounding, like making your bed, washing your face, and brushing your hair with care.
Tiny acts of intention.
Think of it like an anchor. Something that quietly says:
“I’m here. I’m trying. And that’s enough for today.”
This isn’t about fixing everything.
It’s about regaining a little bit of control, just enough to keep going.
📵 3. Step Back from the Scroll — Just for a Bit
Let’s be real:
Scrolling through everyone’s “perfect” life while you’re feeling low?
Not helpful.
We forget: most of what we see online is filtered, curated, and not the full picture.
No one posts their breakdowns, their silent cries, or the nights they feel completely alone.
So try this:
Log out for a day. Set the phone down.
Look around at your real life — the one happening right now.
You’re not missing out. You’re reconnecting with yourself.
And that matters way more.
🎨 4. Revisit Something That Used to Bring You Joy
When everything feels too heavy, return to something light.
Something that once made you smile.
Maybe it was doodling in your notebooks,
baking a cake,
listening to that old playlist,
Re-watching your comfort movie,
Or swinging at the park like you used to.
This isn’t about productivity — it’s about connection.
You’re reaching back to a version of yourself who felt peace in those moments.
That version still lives within you. They’re just waiting to be seen again.
🧸 5. Talk to Someone Who Feels Safe
You’re strong, but being strong doesn’t mean doing it alone.
Sometimes, just saying something out loud — no matter how small or messy it sounds — is the beginning of healing.
Reach out to someone who feels safe.
A sibling, a cousin, an online friend, a support group — someone who will just listen.
You don’t need advice.
You need space.
And you deserve to be heard.
What you’re feeling is real. And you don’t have to carry it all alone.
🌤️ In Case You Forgot — You’re Still Becoming
Feeling lost doesn’t mean you’ve failed.
It means you’re growing.
And growth is rarely neat or simple.
No one gives us a manual for growing up.
So we write our own — one messy note at a time.
And in the middle of that mess, we become something stronger.
Wiser. Softer.
So take a deep breath.
Rest.
Mute the noise.
Make your bed.
Reach out.
Let go.
You will find your way.
Not by rushing —
But by gently coming back to the things that make you feel like you.
And that is more than enough. 🤍

A good piece
Great job! Very well written and great advice for any age! It’s a viscous world, it’s always good to have some small corner of the world, that’s yours, to retreat to and become grounded once again.
