So I figured seeing as its been three years and all that I should probably make an updated list of my fandoms. Why not?

Old fandoms that I still love in no real order:
- Pirates of the Caribbean
- Once Upon a Time in Mexico
- The Boondock Saints
- X-Men
- Buffy
- True Blood
- Oomph!
- Anything that involves Warren Ellis
- Hellblazer
- Burn Notice

New Fandoms, still in no order:
- Justified
- Supernatural
- The Walking Dead
- James Bond (Daniel Craig)
- White Collar

That's all I can remember right now, but I've been distracted watching Raylan and Boyd.

Wow. Just wow.

Things. It's almost 3am and I've just finished episode 1 of season 6 of Supernatural.

It's been three years since my last post here. I really shouldn't be surprised that my friends' list is so empty.

I'd forgotten about my really very nice icons.

I don't have a job. Was fired in January and finding something new is a bitch. However, I've still managed to develop something of a wine habit that has just recently turned into a wine-and-cigar habit thanks to the corruptive influence of my husband.

I have a pet snake now. He is a ball python and his name is Kaa. I also have a chinchilla named Bunny and a dog named Kitty. It's a Thing, apparently.

The other day I made a different LJ, but this was my first. And it's always been my favorite.

You know, I remember when I couldn't go a day without being on LJ. How in the world did I keep that up?

<a href="http://twitpic.com/1m8uf4" title="What do you think? I wrote this a while back.

"I watched your new program on the internet," Zhenya said as he skated up to Johnny, his palm pressing against the small of his back for a moment. "You were beautiful."

"I'm always beautiful," Johnny answered without thinking, turning so that Zhenya's hand slid across his skin and down off his hip. The sound of their skates on the ice was soothing, comforting in a way that he couldn't have explained if he'd tried. "When did you have time? Weren't you in surgery?"

"Yes, but I watched while I was in recovery. Yana saved it for me." This time when he caught Johnny, he wrapped a hand around his wrist and pulled him closer. "You are always beautiful, but you were especially so then." He brushed a kiss over Johnny's cheek before letting him go again and sped up slightly, pushing into a careful, lazy spin. Recovery was still hard and he didn't want to make it any longer than necessary.

Johnny slid to a stop and watched him for a long moment. He smiled when Zhenya stopped too. "Thank you," he said, meaning it. That program had meant a lot to him, and not just because he had choreographed it himself.

Zhenya skated closer to him, stopping just in front of Johnny. He cupped a hand around his cheek. "It has been hard for you, yes? But you are strong and you are beautiful and I do not want to let you forget that." When he kissed him softly, Johnny was insanely glad that they were alone in the rink because he couldn't stop the sob that wanted to claw its way out of his throat. He curled his fingers into Zhenya's t-shirt and held him there awkwardly, complaining when the Russian just skated away again, smiling.

Anything else? Not that I can think of...

Founded in 1984 by Moira North, Ice Theatre of New York (ITNY) is a not-for-profit ice dance company which merges ice skating and dance in traditional and avant-garde ways. If you want to see wonderful examples of both, I recently did a piece about their free lunch time concert series at Rockefeller Skating Rink, so click here if you'd like to watch.

Johnny created a new piece called Heartbroken to celebrate ITNY's home season opening night. In addition, he also performed fan-favorite Bad Romance by Lady Gaga.

<lj-embed id="1" />

Fic Experiment

So, I had this idea yesterday. It was the result of thinking about the Twitter-fic that Neil Gaiman did last week, because it usually takes a while for ideas like that to melt around my brain. I don't have a lot of access to Twitter during the day, just because I'm at work and I don't have a data plan for my phone, so there's no Twitter on my phone. I do, however, have texting. So my idea is this - collaborative fiction, 160 characters at a time. Someone starts by texting 160 characters (or as close as you can get without going over) to another someone. That someone replies with another 160 characters. The rules as I have made them are thus:

160 characters, no more. Less is acceptable, but try to get as close to that 160 as possible.

No txt spk. No cheating on your 160 characters by using shoddy grammar and punctuation and spelling.

Pre-planning is acceptable, I guess, but I think it misses the point. This is strictly a creative exercise. Be creative, not necessarily organized.

I've already started one with mlewys just to see how it goes, but I like the idea. And, once the fic is done, it can be printed out and left with a Creative Commons license on it, using the Don't Look zine format.

If you're interested in playing with me, give me a text. If you don't have my number, just leave a comment and I'll email/private message/whatever you with my cell phone number.

Sadness.

I still haven't written anything for that prompt that I posted myself. Maybe I'll get off my lazy ass and do that tomorrow, along with the laundry and the taking the cat to the vet and whatever else comes up. So excited. No, I take that back. I actually am, because I need to do laundry for hubby's trip this weekend. Which means that I'll get some time to MYSELF after the kids have gone to bed. Which is kind of exciting. I can rewatch all my True Blood again. Yay.

Hrahahaha. This is so cool. I get to handwrite my online journal. I love technology. And hey, I can handwrite code too. cheek it out here. Ok, that actually took alot of work. But still awesome. of course I type faster than I write, but this is fun. I guess I'll stop showing off now, as I really don't have anything to write about. Someone give me a (flash) story prompt so I can write more!

No new True Blood this week. And then only ONE MORE FOR THE SEASON. Don't they know that there are those of us suffering withdrawals? And that's just going week to week. Two weeks is just cruel. MONTHS are impossible.

Also, fan forums still scare the crap out of me.

Things that are fun.

Ok, so I've gone from simply enjoying True Blood to being obsessed by nearly every possible facet of it. This includes working my way through all of the True Blood related sites such as the AVL website and the BloodCopy website. I especially love the commenters on BloodCopy, just because everyone jumps in and gets to be their own character. It's an amazing idea and I am totally enthralled by it. Also, there's the Fellowship of the Sun and Tru Blood. Go. Have fun. :)

I totally need a fandom.

Does anyone remember way back when, when I posted all the time? And I wrote fic all the time? I need a fandom to get into, like stat. And yeah, I'd kinda like it to be True Blood, but I've only found one slash community and it's tiny and small.

Why is it tiny and small, LJ? Have you all finally found something you couldn't slash? I fail to believe it.

Alternatively, I wish for more Harry/Marcone fic in the Dresden Files fandom.

Title: Blame It On Mexico, Chapter 1
Author: Roadparty
Rating: PG-13 for exactly one f-bomb, no porn, and only off-screen violence.
Genre: Slash, eventually
Pairing: Michael/Victor and Sands/El, eventually
Summary: Burn Notice goes AU after "Lesser Evil". Victor lives and the team goes to where all things go when they want to go to hell. Mexico. Crossover with Once Upon a Time in Mexico. Why? Because every fandom needs a little Johnny Depp in it.
Notes: It's been literally years since I actually wrote fanfic. Even more years since I wrote OUaTiM fanfic. I've never written BN fanfic. Spellchecked and reread, but not beta'd. Feedback is nice, but anything constructive is the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. There's no point in writing for years and years and years if you never get any better at it. Also, apologies to George Strait for using his song to title a fic that I'm relatively sure he wouldn't approve of. And, yeah, I don't own Burn Notice or USA or Once Upon a Time in Mexico or Robert Rodriguez or anyone like that. And you can't have my laptop. It's not paid for yet.

Victor can't see them, but he knows the backup has arrived. He can hear the vehicles outside and he can hear the helicopter overhead. Management is here and there's a bullet in his gut somewhere that's killing him slowly. He's never been a big fan of slow so he looks at Michael, who's helping to hold the towel to the bleeding hole in his abdomen. "We gotta talk, big guy."

Of course, he's Michael so Victor totally shouldn't be shocked when Michael doesn't go along with the plan. Instead, there's an explosion, and Carla's dead (he'll bitch later that Fiona jumped ahead of him in that particular line), and he's still trying not to bleed out. Only now, he's trying not to bleed out in Fiona's Saab instead of in his boat. Because his boat has been blown up. Michael's in the helicopter and there's only about twenty thousand reasons why Victor knows that's a bad idea. "Where're we going?" He slurs a little bit and frowns, refusing to accept blood loss as an acceptable way to die until he knows that Michael's going to make it back out of that helicopter in one piece. The jackass should have just shot him. That, at least, was a good plan.

"Mexico," Sam Axe answers, voice as cheery as his shirt which Victor finds a little annoying under the circumstances.

"I hate Mexico." Mexico is the land of bad memories and nightmares and dead little boys.

"Don't blame you, pal, but it's hard to get to Cuba without a boat and we need to get you stashed. Don't worry. Michael told us to take care of you." It's funny, but Victor knows that means the same thing to Sam as it does to him. Michael said to do it, so it gets done. Even when you know it's stupid and risky and did he mention stupid? So he does the only thing that seems to make sense - he passes out.

He doesn't wake up until it's sometime the next day and Fiona is cleaning the hole in his stomach. It's the pain that wakes him up and then very nearly puts him back under. Sometime during the screaming that he's not conscious enough to stop, Sam pins him down and holds him and pours not enough liquor down his throat to even begin to make a difference. He's pretty sure that he could drown in tequila and it wouldn't matter to the pain that's wracking his whole body.

He doesn't wake up again for another twelve hours. This time there's pain, but it's far in the back of his mind and a quick glance tells him that he probably owes that to the I.V. that's hooked up to his arm. Fiona is in the room and on the phone. It takes a moment for Victor to realize that she's talking to Michael. When she hangs up she tells him that Michael's alive and on his way. They're heading for Culiacán just as soon as Victor's able to travel. He starts to insist that he's perfectly able to travel, but loses the thread of the argument half way through and ends up going to sleep again instead.

Victor surmises that he actually is getting better the next time he wakes up. He doesn't feel so much like his head is stuffed with cotton and it doesn't take him a full ten minutes to figure out what Sam and Fiona are arguing about. Something about a contact in Culiacán and violent, nasty, unreliable weasels. Victor doesn't think they're talking about him, but it's hard to be sure. Fiona notices that he's awake first and hushes Sam. "How are you feeling?" she asks, and the fact that she actually sounds like she might possibly care about the answer puts another mark in the I'm-not-a-violent-nasty-unreliable-weasel column.

"Thirsty," he answers truthfully, and Sam quickly brings him a bottle of water and helps him take small, slow sips when all Victor wants to do is guzzle the damn thing and then demand more. Then Sam helps him sit up and the world doesn't spin too badly. "What's wrong?" he asks as soon as he's sure he's not going to pass out.

"Oh, the usual. Mike's got some rabid-ass crazy plan that'll probably get us all killed unless it actually works. Knows a guy down here that wasn't too sane before he got himself burned. But you know how that goes." The fact that suddenly it's Sam making the snarky comments and not Fiona doesn't escape Victor's notice. "Now he's burned, blind, and hooked up to some legendary vigilante, if you wanna believe the stories." It's fairly clear from the look on Sam's face that he doesn't entirely believe all the stories.

"Believe them," Fiona snorted. "Michael's not the only guy that knows a guy." Her face looks pinched, and not in that familiar wants-to-shoot-you-now way. Victor slowly puts the pieces together in his head and blames the fact that it takes so long on the pain meds.

"Sands? You're letting him take us to fucking Sands? Have you both lost your minds?" He blinks back and forth between the two of them, who are wearing the same identical looks. The same look that Victor knows he'll eventually adopt, but that's not going to keep him from throwing a hissy fit while he can. Michael says do it, it gets done. They're going to meet one ex-CIA Agent Sheldon Jeffrey Sands in Culiacán and then pray to a God that none of them believe in that the prissy little shit doesn't just kill them for the fun of it. Saying that Sands wasn't too sane before is like saying the Grand Canyon was a little valley around the river. Sands had been shipped off to this shithole for a reason, and that was before he'd botched the job and gotten his eyes drilled out by one of the cartels. Victor found himself suddenly wishing he was unconsious again.

So, hey. Now that I've got, like, a whole sentence written, I feel that it is a good time to announce that I am writing a fanfic. For the first time in... I'll have to look that up. Not counting the 2 little comment fics I did a week ago, it's probably been two years. So how's THAT for impressive?

Of course, if I actually get it all written, I'm going to have to ask permission before I post it. Still. Writing fic. In an all new fandom for me. Go me.
