new discovery at the farmers' market today
Cherry plums! They're about the size of cherry tomatoes, very sweet, and very juicy. I am vastly amused by their existence in my world.
Today's jaunt included elephant garlic, kale (for me), cucumbers, two types of apples, two types of pluots, a nectarine, the aforementioned cherry plums, carrots, scallions, and potatoes. I am going to have a grand time with fruit and vegetables this week.
I have a pot of sauce with mushrooms, olives, red peppers, onions, elephant garlic, and sausage simmering on the stove, and Tom Lehrer's voice singing "Poisoning Pigeons in the Park," which makes me miss Ann and Robby and Rose's Turn and people in New York and and and... but the sky is blue and full of white fluffy clouds, and the day is warm, and, overall, I am happy.
