cooking adventures: potato salad

  • small red potatoes, diced (1.25 lbs., maybe)
  • hard-boiled eggs, mushed (6)
  • scallions, sliced (8)
  • celery, diced (4 stalks)
  • dill pickles, diced (a quarter to a third cup, perhaps)
  • peas (1 cup)
  • mayonnaise (2 healthy blobs)
  • dill pickle juice (a tablespoon, perhaps)
  • sweet paprika
  • garlic powder
  • fresh crushed black pepper


  • I'm too close to it to tell what it needs, having just made it. Jane says it's good, but perhaps something like lemon juice or a splash of vinegar or more dill pickle juice to make it tangier. Soren likes it, but suggests bacon. Firmer potatoes would be better, I think; these were close to creamers.

    Ah, well... they'll have to suffer through my experimenting with the recipe a few more times, I guess. They are patient with my cooking experiments, which is a virtue.
