in my room, thinking
Last week, I stopped procrastinating, and went to Office Depot to buy new storage boxes for my room. A little thing, but the old ones, in which I'd moved all my papers cross country, were taped and battered and scribbled on, and depressing for me to think about. I'd done some culling (still) of papers, but left the room a shambles. Now, the papers are all boxed (and I still have two empty boxes, so that I can sort and organize without leaving piles everywhere), the floor is swept, and Jane has found a rug for the middle of the floor.
Yesterday, we spent most of the day with Patrick and Teresa, who were on this coast for family affairs, but made time to drive up and see us. Today, I am all sorts of wistful for the time we spent together in Brooklyn, me assisting Teresa with cooking, while Soren and Patrick music-geeked at each other, then eating dinner and discussing anything and everything. There's less music-geeking with Jane, but when we eat dinner together, we converse about anything and everything... but in different ways. And I want them all.
And, at the same time, I'm serene about what I have now, what I had, and what I want. My life is quietly amazing, and I have been blessed with some truly wondrous people to share it with.
And, oh! I have finally put the print of Madonna with Parsnip and Goldfinches on the bulletin board up here. Soren got it for me for my birthday, and it makes me incredibly happy.
