hundreds and thousands, and other units

This has been a weird, depressed month for me, but I am resilient/tenacious/pig-headed, or something like that... so, updates.

First: I'm posting this from Google Chrome, as somehow, I have borked my FireFox so that I cannot see or make comments on posts in LJ. I'm often creative with my computer, but this is a new one -- duh: I managed to do it with CommentBlocker; I just had a moment of inspiration and looked at my add-ons. Okay: the afternoon is looking up.

I've been somewhat under the weather for several weeks, not really sick, but not up to snuff, and have a couple of hunches why, including the apartment situation (a major part of which is not our doing, but a result of living in a building that's been inadequately maintained for decades). Warmer weather, and the escape plan, will improve that.

The Spousal Sort is also under the weather, with adjusting to yet another set of new meds. However, the bits of warmer weather and dearth of snow drifts are making his life easier.

Speaking of which, we have a definite date by which we want to be in Seattle, and thus, through backwards planning, a date by which we need to be on the train. So it's heavy-duty purging and packing time around these parts, and less time for socializing. Poot, I say to that last.

Tuesday, we got to have lunch with casacorona and papersky -- sushi and good conversation -- then we stopped in at Tor/Forge and St. Martin's, then wandered south for the geek reading with Jo Walton and Charles Stross. A number of familiar faces, conversation with stakebait, then back to P&T's for more conversation.

No vocal coaching this week, but some music (which merits a post of its own, I think).

Soren has unstopped the clogged toilet, and I have scrubbed it clean. He is a hero. I am rewarding myself with a nice tart miniature cheesecake; he has a miniature chocolate cake. Miniature cakes are good things.
