sung yesterday
at Shades of Green:
"Like a Hurricane" (with Lori, Ira, Eddie)
"I Just Want to Dance" (a capella)
Not sure about my pitch on the end of "I Just Want to Dance," particularly since I was improvising the ending, but no one else seemed to know any of the songs I know, and Lori very much wanted me to sing.
at The Duplex, with John Bronston:
"The Air That I Breathe"
"The Black One"
I resisted the commands of Jeremy the Twink to sing something from Rent with him, as I don't know the show well enough. (I looked at "Take Me Or Leave Me," but wasn't sure enough of Joann's part to try it.) Why do I have a fan club of drunken twinks? This is not the first, or even the tenth, time one has come up to me, having heard me before, and insisted that I sing with him.
at The Duplex, with Michael Isaacs:
"Time After Time"
I was Michael's first "guest singer," and I did a really good version, holding the long note on the final "I will be waiting" with strength and power and pitch. The next singer, Doug, had an awesome falsetto, and knocked "Somebody to Love" out of the park; he was followed by a woman named Ayisha (sp?) who did an awesome version of "God Bless the Child." Being the worst of the first three guest singers in this group was not a bad thing.
