placemarker for rant to come

Someone asked me (paraphrasing) why I am judgemental.

Because I am alive, and I have a mind, and I choose to use it. Anyone who doesn't admit to making judgements about things in their life is lying. From "I don't like brussels sprouts" to "Cold blooded murder of innocent children is wrong" are all judgements, all expressions of values in one's life, and everyone makes them. It is, however, deemed wrong to make negative judgements about people based on evidence such as what they choose to write about and why. (Though not, I note, to make positive judgements.)

I choose to make my judgements, and not to deny that I do so. I stand by them, and, when presented with evidence that I was wrong, will often revise them, and will admit to having held wrong judgements in the past. That is part of my definition of being a mature adult.

More on this later.
