vacation!
Eight days out of the office! I don't go back to work until 27 August! WooHOOO!
New journal book (it's one of the little spirals, Aphonia, if you're wondering -- I like them, because they fit nicely into most bags), with an inspirational title. I've probably nattered about this before, but the overall title of my journals (whether handwritten, typed, or here in pixels) is roadnotes; each volume cycle (whether a year or less) has a title/epigram; and each book has a title/epigram. And I've found that the titles seem to subtly shape the way the world is perceived and written about.
So, this one, I was pretty sure would be love is coming through the door, from a song from the new Stew album, that is cheerful, uplifting, soulful and powerful. I spent a fair amount of time writing down the lyrics (Stew doesn't believe in lyric sheets), and being happy. But there were a few days in the past week or so when I thought the title would be it's going to take some time this time, because I found out that I wasn't as well-healed in some areas as I thought I was...
after all the tears we've shed
how could we make amends?
so it's one more round for experience
and I'm on the road again
and it's going to take some time
this time...
... but as I got closer to the day of starting, I realized that I needed the cheerful, hopeful title and worldview, not a wistful starting over. And it's summer; "It's Going to Take Some Time This Time" has references to winter in it. I might as well be here now, and be in the summer, and look for what I want.
So, there should be a spate of posts, and some catching up now, as I have time, and clean up. Today, I start a new book, and look up.
i have missed her for a thousand days
she is all that's left of me
i have witnessed loves and tidal waves
sailed ten times across the sea
see her dancing in the garden now
summer won't wait up for me
i can't give up 'cause I don't know how
there is so much left to see
when she says
look up, look up
love is coming through the door
