Merry Christmas, Everypony!

I can't believe I've had this journal for over a year now! I definitely don't update every day anymore...but I really should try for every other day, don't you think?

this year was pretty good in terms of presents: computer cooling fan, scarf, school hat, school license plate, koala chocolate cookies (YUM!), new dress... and 2 other gifts from my dad that haven't come in yet.

now we're going to my aunt and uncle's house. I'll try to write about everything that's been going on later, when I have time.

so I'm kinda disappointed in my Kiki's Delivery Service DVD... :(

I bought the 2010 DVD release. apparently they changed things from the original dubbed version.

the first English Disney dubbed version (1998 VHS) changed a number of things from the original Japanese version. I have copied this from wikipedia:

"Kiki's Delivery Service received a new Region 1 DVD on March 2, 2010, the same day Miyazaki's Ponyo became available on American home video. This English audio production is something of a combination of the original Japanese version (which is fairly minimalist and has basic sound effects) and the 1998 Disney English audio production (which has lavish sound effects, some new incidental music, and the many entirely new lines of dialog, particularly from Hartman). In the 2010 version, some of the 1998 changes and additions remain and some are gone, reverting to the original audio production. The opening/closing songs from the English version have been changed to the original Japanese songs. Notably, Hartman's final line which implied that Jiji could talk again by the end of the story has been removed."

sigh. it's nice that they've restored the film to something similar to the original Japanese version, but this is not the version I grew up with.

I want the extra Jiji sass comments. I want the extra music. I'm expecting to hear all of these things - and when I don't, it's just disruptive to my movie experience.

I'm glad I have this version, but I want the version I love. so I'm going to buy the 2003 DVD. I'll check HalfPriced Books first before buying it off Amazon.

I also bought a Howl's Moving Castle doujinshi XD it was pretty cheap for a doujin...and I've always wanted one. plus it's an excuse to brush up on my Japanese :p

Silver appeared in my dream last night!

I don't remember the very beginning, but somehow Silver and I were together in a park. I say 'together' but we weren't friends; he was pretty upset that he had to be near me (for whatever reason the dream had established). then some thugs showed up...I think they may have been friends with Silver previously (I remember they said something like that). anyway, they started throwing plates at me! the first one shattered at my feet! more went over my head and in other directions around the woody park; many of the plates shattered on trees (they must have had bad aim...lol). one of the plates almost hit me in the face, but I ducked down into the fetal position. I saw one of the thugs throw a plate at me on the ground, so I closed my eyes and curled up as much as possible (why didn't I run away right?). but Silver jumped in front of me and took the blow! the thugs said they were going to come to my house and find me, as they threw more plates at me. I was still curled up, and somehow I ended up on my bed in my room... Silver came in and asked why I was hiding! but I stayed curled up, because I was kinda scared of him too... he just sat on my bed with me and we watched TV. and then he gave me a hug! way out of character, but it was a dream lol. however, the thugs came to my house and Silver and I had to hide and pretend we weren't home. which was hard to do, since Silver kept playing with the curtains -___- eventually I think they left...and then I woke up.

I'm sure more happened but I can't remember it ^_^;;;

I'm at school...but today there was no class >.> so really I didn't need to show up til later, before fencing practice. *sigh*

so I'm sitting here on my laptop, while playing HG. still traveling through Kanto. I mentioned that I obtained the rainbow and soul bades... and that's all I've got still. I skipped Lt. Surge because I don't really have a type advantage. sure, I could take him out with my level 83 Lugia, but I don't feel like it. I'm trying to train my other team members. Pan, my Cyndaquil, is level 56, and Amphorous "Mary" is 51. I have Blastoise "Akie" at level 77 (migrated from my LG), and I had a Bulbasaur from LG too (migrated at level 12), but I trained it up and now it's a Venasaur at level 40.

I made my way from Vermillion up to Saffron, where I skipped Sabrina; I'll come back to her later. I went west and into Celadon City, where I creamed Erika's grass types with my Pan. then I left and biked down Cycling Rd to Fuschia City. here, I beat Janine easily and migrated many (well, around 30 total) pokemon from S/LG. then I went back, up Cycling Rd and beat all of the bikers. then I traveled back through Celadon to Saffron, and on to Lavender. from there, I went through Rock Tunnel and down to the Power Plant. I chased the foreign Team Rocket grunt from the Cerulean gym up to the bridge, where he proceeded to squeeze between a kissing couple (creep). I battled him, retrieved the stolen piece, and returned it to the Power Plant.

then I went back to Cerulean and south through Saffron to Vermillion...to retrieve Copycat's pokedoll. returned it to her and got a train pass. then I went back to Lavender Town and headed south down Silence Bridge, easily taking out all of the fishermen with Mary. I came upon Suicune, but it ran away (back up towards Lavender). Eusine, the cape-wearing Suicune-obsessed man arrived shortly after, sharing a "secret" that Suicune like hilly, watery areas (as if I didn't just see it run north). and currently I am traveling west (from the bridge) back to Fuschia.

I think I am traveling around out of order, but oh well... the game isn't stopping me, so I'm doing what I want. I need to get the national dex though, so I can start running into new pokemon. so after I get back to Fuschia, I'm heading south and over to the Seafoam Islands, to Cinnabar Island, and then north to Pallet Town.

and I'll take out every trainer who crosses my path... Leader Blaine is next on the gym badge quest!

probably should stop giving my # to random trainers; some of them look creepy...

supposedly there's a limit on how many pokemon you can migrate from S/R/E/FR/LG to D/P/Pt/HG/SS (pal park) in a 24hr period.

an article on bulbapedia makes it look like for DPPt you can only migrate 6 per day:

"Despite the game having settings in place to restrict the amount of Pokémon migrated in a single day, these restrictions can be avoided and an infinite number of Pokémon transferred into Generation IV. If, once a Catching Show has been completed, the player turns off the game system and changes the date on the Nintendo DS to show one day later, and inserts a second Generation III game, he or she will be instructed to reset the time on the DS. This will prevent migration from the second game, but allow the original game—that has already had six Pokémon transferred—to send Pokémon into Diamond, Pearl, or Platinum. Also, one can set the DS's clock to the time displayed in the GBA cartridge before choosing the Pal Park option to avoid the 24 hour period of waiting before transferring their Pokémon."

^as if saying that without this cheat, you can only migrate 6 per day, though it only specifies DPPt.

I cannot access pal park in Pearl yet (I haven't filled my pokedex), so I can't see if there is a limit there.

however, I have reached Fuschia City in HG... and have discovered no limit whatsoever on transferring pokemon... o_O

I migrated 6 pokeom 4 times yesterday, so 24 pokemon total, with no trouble.

I remember Michael forcing his DS clock to skip ahead days to cheat around the limit in his SS game (though he can't remember what the limit was). but I haven't had to change my clock and have migrated many pokemon...hmmm. weird.

also, I beat Erika and Janine in the Kanto region on HG. haven't done much on Black... training for the pokemon league gets boring so I am working on evolving pokemon instead; however, all the pokemon in Black I need to evolve don't evolve til level 40 or later -___-

and I was sad upon discovering I can't get my rival's phone number :(

sigh... I didn't go to the Japan Festival this year :\ parking is always awful and I just felt like sitting at home.

I went through my dA a bit and got rid of some stuff in my inbox...not much though ^^;; still 5000+ artworks to looks at from the artists on my watch list.

mostly I've just been writing.

swifa4 is next weekend...! I'm extremely excited and super nervous at the same time. dunno why I'm nervous though, I already expect to come in dead last >.>
