I think being sick at college has to be one of the most horrifically interesting experiences ever.
On one hand, people are nice to me and make me soup, and sleeping for half the day means I only miss ONE class.

So when I did the massive CVS run with my mother for college, I bought a carpet swiffer.

And just swiffed our room, Jesse's room, Rachel's room, Matt's room, and the hallway.

I am a fucking swiffer swiff addict. SWIFF. SWIFFER SWIFF SWIFF.

I also discovered that I apparently have Tourette's Syndrome when i'm tired. I was frolicking around my Swiffer and tried to pick up a piece of Cap'n Crunch, broke it, and then had to swiff the pieces and crumbs about ninety times before I got it all. All the while shouting FUCK.

The following conversation also just took place only moments ago:

ME: *BUUUURP*... FUCK.
CAROLEEEEN: What are you DOING?
ME: I'M ADDRESSING A POSTCARD.

I love college. Even though when you stay up till 3 making spoons with the pretty boys who live in your dorm, you end up hating everyone the next day and randomly shouting expletives.

I had a dream last night that I was taking care of these kids full time for like.. a week.. or something, and we're all playing in the kitchen (we had filled up the sink with suds and cups and stuff) and Dr. Chase (PICTURE!) from House, M.D. was totally there as well - I think his parents lived in the same apartment building or something, either that or he was helping to also take care of the kids cause he would spend the days playing with us.

Anyway.. my point is, we're standing at the sink and he whispers something to me from behind that's like really playful and I can't remember what it was exactly... but either way, I ended up being a babysitter by day and banging Dr. Chase (NOT Jesse Spencer the actor.. but Dr. Chase the character) at night... for the entire week I was there.

Good effing dream, if I do say so myself.

1) Stadium Arcadium.
Holy fuck. If you don't own this CD.. go buy it now. The Chili Peppers are GODS. Especially Flea, because he makes me giggle.

2) Channing Tatum.

I realize that he's in that new movie about break dancing or whatever the hell it is that's coming out soon.. but Ro made me watch "She's the Man" last night.. and I've never quite had this experience before with a movie.. but there were more than a few moments where I honestly could not get words out of my mouth for the GUHHHH that my jaw was making.

I heard the best story about myself yesterday. Standing around with distant cousins we started talking to one of them about her son, who was wearing HUGE glasses and looked like a little mini intellectual/computer nerd.

Me to Distant Cousin: Aw man.. I had glasses when I was 3. At the same time I broke my arm.. so I had a big sling and everything. I was a mess.
Brother Josh: I actually remember you slugging that kid Jamie who lived next door with your cast.
Me: Wait are you serious?
Brother Josh: He was making fun of your duck boots.

I would pay big money to go back in time and watch that in the third person.
I was a kickass three year old.

Tutorial #02

Second tutorial. Naturally, Boondock Saints themed.

Start out with your base (cropped to 100x100 px). I chose a lovely screencap of ~~my one true love~~ Murphy McManus (made by me).

Duplicate the base and set to SCREEN 80%.
Sharpen once.
Blur skin as so desired with 3px blur tool, 25%

NEW CURVES LAYER
I borrowed settings used in likeohmygod_x's LOVELY tutorial (which I was tooling around with when I started this icon!)
The CURVES PRESET is available at step FOUR of her tutorial here!

NOTE: IT WOULD BE MUCH EASIER TO USE THE PRESET.
Just open a new curves layer, and click "LOAD", then click on wherever you saved the curves preset to.

But for you crazies who prefer to do it manually, here are the SETTINGS:

RGB
Point 1: Input 33, Output 0
Point 2: Input 140, Output 165
Point 3: Input 225, Output 255

RED
Point 1: Input 23, Output 0
Point 2: Input 67, Output 35
Point 3: Input 103, Output 1140

GREEN
Point 1: Input 52, Output 39
Point 2: Input 111, Output 140
Point 3: Input 178, Output 208

BLUE
Point 1: Input 33, Output 43
Point 2: Input 85, Output 68
Point 3: Input 137, Output 112
Point 4: Input 178, Output 176
Point 5: Input 225, Output 229

PHEW!

Set the curves layer to 80% opacity.

Flood fill a new layer with 03141d. Set to EXCLUSION, 100%

Flood fill a new layer with b0dfed. Set to COLOR BURN, 100%

Flood fill a new layer with ebe1e1. Set to SOFT LIGHT, 80%

Duplicate the base, drag to the top. DESATURATE it and set it to SOFT LIGHT, 100%.

Make a new HUE/SATURATION adjustment layer, and up the saturation by 8.

I then took the eyedropper tool and set my color palette to the color of Murph's cigarette (d8cfa9). But given that you're probably doing this tutorial with another image, go ahead and eyedrop something else in the picture - that way the text blends with the color scheme of the icon.

I wrote "MURPH" in all caps, font CELTIC GARAMOND THE 2ND (available at Dafont.com - how I love my celtic fonts!). 100% opacity. I added a 50% opacity, 1px DROP SHADOW for my own security's sake.

Then I took a tiny text brush by teh_indy and put it in a new layer, underneath the larger text, same color. 100% opacity.

AND YOU'RE DONE!
VOILA!
