now: just ignore the zipper

eat all the slices

(which I did not find ’til late)*

*(The apple slices were treated with ascorbic acid – vitamin C – and calcium carbonate to retard spoilage. I had a better solution: just eat the whole bag. Nice Washington state flavor, though a bit without the peel is like eating just-washed cabbage and ignoring he core. Shameful. Wasteful and the core holds freshly ground pepper and Kosher salt better than the floppy leaves.)

Technically, this is a senryu, which is structured like a haiku, but rather than nature, senryu looks at the ironies of life with a satirical tone.

A Bad Haiku on Public Bathroom Woes

We have entered the micro-season of “The First Lotus Blossoms ”. This is the second micro-season of the mini-season of Minor Heat. As a way to celebrate this season, we are going to learn about the lotus flower and its connection to Buddhism. Then we will read several haiku by Basho, Issa, Shiki, and Buson.
