My first hand account, behind the scenes from my perspective, of Sweet Streets November 19th, 2011! So way back in April, Tavuchi came to L.A. as a guest judge for a magical girls costume contest, and that's where I met her for the first time! I wore a dress that I designed to look like a mix of pre-cure and chibiusa's sailor costume and ended up winning the costume contest! I was surprised and unbelievably happy. I was literally speechless due to losing my voice the night prior too! In my prize pack I won two pairs of spank! tights, a hair bow, two hair clips, a necklace, and a badge in addition to the $100 gift card to meltdown comics!

So when I applied to be a model for the fashion show, I really wanted to do my very best in support for both Michele and Tavuchi who have already done so much for me. I am petite but curvy girl and I was afraid that I wouldn't be chosen due to not being able to fit into the clothes! ;v; In the end I was chosen! At that point I had been on a crash diet for six weeks and I was feeling pretty good! The next few weeks, I'm not exaggerating when I say I really couldn't think of anything besides sweet streets! It felt like forever!

So my friend itskelp let me stay over at her place for the weekend! I was pretty happy to be able to see her and alanna-lioness again! They go to school up north so it was pretty great they were able to come down for the event! Alanna-lioness made Tavuchi a mix CD of all her favorite twee songs that she plays on her radio show at KDVS! Oh yeah, and she also brought me a ton of fluffy socks and bloomers from Daiso (✿ ♥‿♥)

The next day I woke up early and did some stretches and took a bath to mentally prepare for the day ahead! (•⊙ω⊙•) It was weird leaving the house with no makeup!

I left OBSCENELY early and it's a good thing I did! Not only did I get lost, but there was also traffic on the way up! I ended up leaving an hour early and getting there about on time! The area the gallery was in is a really nice area, almost like a park. Everything was really close together and pretty! The gallery itself was super small, I nearly walked past it! It had a windowed front and a small door to the side. I called Michele and she let me in and I started to bond with the models right away ♥ I met Selina! I had admired her craftiness from tumblr! I was so happy to discover that some of the models had tumblrs.

It was sort of weird to see Tavuchi and Eri together working hard and bustling around! It was sort of unreal! Right away we went downstairs for some more room and started working on our routine, which was totally simple and fun! I loved the music they had playing, it was by Hazel Nuts Chocolate! All ten of us models were paired up into themes. Sydney and I were the pop idols! There were also cheerleaders, candy girls, bubble girls, and unicorn girls!

We spent most of the day not practicing the routine but actually coordinating hair, makeup and fitting. We had a lot of spare time to get to know one another and browse the gallery. My outfit for the fashion show!! You should have seen Tavuchi's eyes light up when she saw my reeboks, she hadn't seen them before! I asked her if she collects reeboks and she giggled and said yes!

I was ready before most of the other girls so this is when I had the time to wander around. I asked if I could take pictures of the shop and poke around and they said OK! I was able to see the prices of everything and formulate my shopping strategy ufufufu. If you want to see the photos of the shop you can see them here!

We had a little thank you ceremony to get us pumped up, all of the models received a special bag with a tote bag, a pair of tights, a couple of badges, and a chubby bunny bow! For freeeeeee! ノ◕ヮ◕ ノ・゚✧

The make up and hair artists also received goodies! IDK what they go though. After that it was SHOPPING! The shop was too tiny for all ten of us girls, but we crammed in anyway! I was a girl on a mission and got exactly what I wanted! You can see the post I made with all my purchases here

An FYI, a lot of the clothing was pretty reasonable! I had been looking at the yen amounts on the webshop and certain items that should have gone for $160 went for $75, I got the ice cream dress for $40. Certain items were more than others due to their hand made, one of a kind nature. I didn't know this, but the store is still open at the gallery until December 25th! I was one of the first people to make a purchase and in my euphoria I struck up a conversation with Tavuchi, who was so grateful to me for buying a lot! I asked her if she would ship internationally and she said no (╯︵╰,) I was also asking her about the hand painted shirts, and she said Maga paints them! I then mentioned how cute I thought the bear baby suit for her baby girl was and Tavuchi was like, "you read our blogs? Thank you so much!!" Aw man I read all the blogs!

So after everyone was done shopping we had one more dress rehearsal and some of my friends were already lining up outside looking in through the glass! They got a little preshow! (I'm looking at you Claudia!) After that we had to rush upstairs and wait for a whole hour! We all got pretty nervous!

We ended up doing the fashion show a little after 8 pm. When it was my turn to come out, I saw so many friendly faces smiling at me that I totally lost count! I still did a good job though, even if I was nervous! Unfortunately, MOST of the attendees had to wait outside and it was RAINING! So during our "bow" we marched outside, single file to go take pictures with everyone.

We went back inside, had sort of a de-briefing session and some drinks and went to the party! There were so many of my friends who came to support me, I was so happy! ;~; The line for the shop was pretty crazy, but they were only letting a few in at a time. The night just flew by! Before I knew it the party was over and I had to go put on my street clothes!

I went looking for a bottle of water and managed to corner Shojono Tomo and took a picture with her! She seriously has the most beautiful mind and the most vivid imagination, which you can see in her artwork! She said she liked my nails because purple is her “lucky color” she was so sweet!

After this point I was pretty beat! After running around for twelve hours straight I wanted to sleep! The party was winding down and a lot of us went to a bar. It only had beer and wine though, I'm sure I would have just fallen asleep if I had drank anything! I sat across from Shojono Tomo and she was so cute! She was playing with alanna-lioness's popples bag and inventing stories for him

After that I drove back to itskelp's and fell asleep!! (After brushing out my hair and washing my face of course!)

The next day I just hung out with her and her family ♥ Her mom made me bacon, toast and eggs (YAY I'm off the diet!) Itskelp also gave me the entire Sailor Moon manga series because she now has the re-released version in Japanese! And a Kamikaze Girls poster, which I now display proudly in my room! Thank you so much!!

honeyroyalty and I left on Thursday afternoon to get our con passes and scope out the exhibit hall, which closed within 15 minutes of our arrival. No time to buy anything! Boo, it's OK, we came back all four days. :) After that we waiting in line for the Yoshiki Foundation Benefit Bash. We met up with a whole bunch of friends including mariedauphine, tamtamchanfan among many, many others! (I don't know their livejournal accounts. )

Once we got in everyone seemed to scatter, and I had a hard time finding anyone. We waited around forever for the h.naoto fashion show which was so amazing! I wish I could have gotten closer, I had to watch it on a screen in a corner. Our friend Brian, who we also happen to be staying with over the weekend, won second place for the masquerade contest! Once they started filming the X Japan bit, David and I were spent and wanted to leave but we had to wait for Brian, so we rested for a bit. They had go go dancers in cages suspended in the air wearing nothing but underwear and chains to look like a rib cage. Pretty hardcore, right? I enjoyed it.

After that was all over, it was 12:30 or so, and Brian comes rushing out saying their not done but he has to move his car because the lot closes at 1:00. David and I had no idea so we all ran over to the parking garage and we got harassed by some thugs D: We just ignored them and kept running. It was my first time wearing my rocking horse shoes, so I almost ate dirt a few times.

Over the next few days Anime Expo was pretty much the same, we slept in too much and got to the con late, went to the exhibit hall and bought some stuff. Afterwards we hung out with some new friends! BTW, if you guys haven't added me on facebook yet, go ahead and add me!

I didn't buy too many things throughout the weekend, because I've been buying things online. I bought an h.naoto posted (they didn't have anything I wanted at the booth), a giant listen flavor t-shirt which I plan on reconstructing, a pink and gold Putumayo carousel skirt (came with a calender!) and I think that's it. I feel constant buyers remorse even though I didn't get much because I am unemployed now. David broke the bank but that's another story XD

This whole time were were staying at mamoru_kun09 and Brian's apartment! It was so nice of them to let us stay with them, and we had so much fun both at the con and at home with them! Ah memories :D

So last weekend was Fantaisies dans le Monde des Rêves! I was super pumped for this event, and I got to meet so many wonderful people. Everyone was so fabulous and stunning! Unfortunately, the event itself was a huge let down and I feel like I wasted $65. I got some flyers, a mug of Lipton tea and cake. Oh, and the privilege to spend lots of money at the boutique. Angelic Pretty didn't bring ANYTHING I wanted! I wanted those bloomers with the garters for your socks, and I didn't see any socks I wanted or anything. I also wanted to see some of their non-print dresses they recently came out with in real life.

It was worth going though, no matter how crazy and stressful it was. Killed my feet, not as bad as last time! I need to start wearing heels more and get some mighty callouses!

I did not sleep that night... Thank God for makeup.

I've become obsessed with Facebook lately. It's just such an excellent resource -- really confusing to use, but still. It's great and I'm getting used to it. I feel giddy, like when I discovered myspace only I'm not wasting my time making a supah kawaii layout and actually using the darn thing!

Then I went to the zoo with my mom for her company picnic! Free admission, free food, and free tickets to go to the Wild Animal Park in the next 30 days too! SCORE! I took a ton of pictures, you can see them on my facebook if you want!

ALSO honeyroyaly and mamoru_kun09 and I were in the first issue of ELECTRIC TRASH! I love that magazine, I want to help contribute! Maybe I can volunteer for events in my area??

Woo, going to Disneyland with honeyroyalty, faunkegin and her friend tomorrow! Going to have a BLAST!! I can't wait!

OMG I'm in serious need of an update here.

This last weekend honeyroyalty and I decided last minute to go to the Glamorous event hosted by the Diamond gal circle at Kira Kira Purikura! It was a lot of fun and we finally got to meet mamoru_kun09 and Brian! Also planning to go to Disneyland this weekend before honeyroyalty goes to Hawaii!

That was a ton of fun. I'm really glad I went, I risked a lot because of my financial situation for just going. I felt a little ostracized, women are seriously vapid and vicious creatures. I think I made a good first attempt at a gyaru inspired outfit/makeup with what I had on such short notice.

It's been officially announced to me that my company that I work for is shutting its doors at the end of June. My boss started crying, he's pretty emotional and stressed about everything right now. I have until the end of June to save up some money, and then I can collect some money in unemployment. I plan on working for Stu Segall Productions down in San Diego again, it could be fun. I also want to see if I can work for them in wardrobe. They are filming a show called "Terriers" right now, I have no idea what it's about but I'm sure they can find something for me.

A few weekends ago honeyroyalty and I met up with tamtamchanfan, matsuparadise and rainb0wchan to see Moon Kana and DJ SiSen perform at the Bootleg theater! The concert was so amazing I had a blast, until my feet died but it was still fun!

Life Update

Things have been looking up for me. I got my unemployment check earlier than expected, however it was a measly $38. The first week doesn't count so next time it should be like $80 or so. I hope. I really wish my boss would let me go so I could get my full $192 a week! That's more than I'm making now and I would have more time to myself. Anyway it's good to have the extra money.

This weekend honeyroyalty and I went to Disneyland! We had a lot of fun, it wasn't too crowded and we got to ride everything we wanted.

We had to leave early (no fireworks) so honeyroyalty could go to work at 5:00 am the following morning. He had to pay $45 to go on a blockout date but it was worth it!

I went to Discount Tire the other day to harass them about my locking lug nuts. They gave me the lug nut key with absolutely no hassle whatsoever. Then I then went and visited David in the gardening center at Target because we were right there. I keep going to these stores and makes me want to build a garden so bad. I wonder if my mom would let me build a small greenhouse for potted plants? I know she won't let me till her soil and that's OK. The soil in Oceanside is so shitty it's basically concrete.

I am finally getting used to my new phone, the BlackBerry 8220 (Pearl flip) and I'm learning to love it. There's good news with this. As of now, I spend about $70 on my phone service. If I take data off of my plan, I can save $20 a month! My phone has wifi enabled so it's not like I would be giving it up entirely. I think it's a great idea. You should see the browser on my phone, it's such a joke.

This morning I went to Pep Boys to get a free brake inspection. I dropped off my car and Brandon took me to work. He's been driving me back and forth from work and school since last Thursday. I hope he doesn't feel like I'm using him!

There's this Mexican food restaurant inside of a Chevron gas station by my house called King Burrito, and on Sundays (or whenever they feel like it) they have a $0.99 fish taco special! They are simple and so delicious, and very filling. I know where I'm getting my fix!

So my weight has been everywhere lately. Sometimes I am a lard balloon and other times I feel pretty skinny. I'm pretty sure it's physical and not emotional because even Brandon noticed. But I really want to take dancing lessons this summer at Mira Costa. honeyroyalty said he would take it with me! We want to get wild be sexy!

Can't wait for all the events coming up! I want to go see SiSen and Kana, see LM.C, go to Anime Expo, and other things PLUS I want to go to Disneyland more! No blockout dates for me!

What's up guys??

I haven't been too busy, just the usual work then school backwards and forwards. I went to school today and I blame me not eating, but I was sort of retarded. It took me all class to finish an invisible zipper sample, that I already did half the work. :( I was mostly seam ripping the darn thing.

Calorie Mates totally come in handy for days like that when you have to work through any sort of break.

Last week after class, I went to Mitsuwa dressed up loli with honeyroyalty and Savannah, my friend from school. Yes, we wore lolita to a Japanese grocery store.

This is me being angry that I can't fit into this commissioned dress anymore because I got fat from the birth control pills. I want to sell it, but the underskirt tiers are ripping off! I need to fix them and sell it... if I could get say $60 for it I would be happy.

I want to go out on lolita outings like this more often. If I had more than two dresses I totally would, but I found out recently that I absolutely can not afford anything. My savings have depleated and I am terrified that my car will break down. It's really hard to afford sewing class when I have to buy such expensive fabric, zippers, fancy thread, fancy needles etc. when I'm working part time.

Don't even get me started about work. Doing a full-time workload at three days a week? Yeah, only natural I would fall behind. I would get paid more money if I was unemoployed.

ANYWAY I have a phone interview for unemployment tomorrow (coincidentally while I'm working) and we're receiving a financial audit from the insurance company at the same time. We'll see how that works out LOL

I still want to go to Japan in October but if I don't get a full time job for at least $12/hr soon, it will have to wait until next year. As of now I can't even afford a passport. When I get that though, I can go to Mexico and buy medicine so I can get away with not having health insurance. I'm still screwed if I have an emergency though.

That reminds me. I've been having problems with my phone for the last few months and as of now I can not make a phone call unplugged for more than two minutes without loosing all connection and my battery dying. They sent me four brand spanking new phones and they have all had the same problem. It's crazy, I'm not the only person having this problem but T-Mobile will not acknowlege it. You'll laugh when you hear the two phone options they offered me. The Samsung Gravity 2 or the Blackberry Pearl. WHAT THE FUCK MAN. I just wish my amazing and awesome Sidekick would start working again. I don't want a shitty phone to replace it.

I've done some shopping around and pretty much the only phone I would be happy with would be the Motorola Cliq or the G1. Brandon said that when he gets a new phone I can have his G1, but I need a phone. I can't sign a new contract because I have Flexpay. When I signed it I had zero credit so this plan means I cannot really alter it. That means no discounts, no extending contracts etc. I think when I get some money I'll just buy a Cliq off of eBay, they're between $200-$300. I won't get anything for selling my Sidekick though.

The debate is, should I buy a new phone, or buy BURANDO. Um you know which I want better. Another option is I could lower my monthly plan by $25 a month and get rid of data services and get a normal phone. OMG. It's crazy. But I would be saving so much money a month and I could finally get that pink Motorola SLVR I've always wanted. Hahaha don't judge me.

Here's my life, living paycheck to paycheck. Never thought I'd be in this sort of situation.

I bought:

Lux super damage shampoo and condition refills. Seriously addicted to this stuff, it's wonderful.
Three packs of Calorie Made, I got chocolate cheese and a new flavor, MAPLE! Doesn't that sound delicious??
Collagen supplements. I've only taken these for a week but I can already see a difference so I got some more.
The March issue of Kera! I really love the spreads in this one, as always!

We were talking to this cute cashier girl who was wearing an alice bow and a bolero over her grocery uniform. It was so adorable! She was super nice, can't wait to go there again and see her!

Then we went into Book Off to see if they had any awesome old manga (I was looking for Paradise Kiss). They didn't have it which is OK because I am poor. We went to look at CDs and we met a girl named Jen who was into all the music honeyroyalty likes and a lot of hardcore music. I don't think she liked me because I'm on the other end of the music spectrum hahaha. She got honeyroyalty's phone number, how sly! You go girl.

We met Cris and only_frodo at Barnes and Noble the other night and OMG, they are just like honeyroyalty and I but more fabulous! And they are our age and live right by us, it's crazy we never met before! They went to a different high school for smart kids while we were stuck at shitty El Camino. Boooo. We're going to try to go to the Polysics concert in San Diego with them! I'm excited, I love their new album. I really enjoy discovering new music and making new friends.

It's been a little while since my last entry -- I haven't been busy so much as I have been stressed out.

I'm getting shit hours here at work. I have no love for this job, I only work two days this week for a total of 15 hours! I don't care how much I make that is not acceptable. It's so frustrating!

If I stay here I will never have enough money to go to Japan.

I want to work doing something that I enjoy. I would take a pay cut if I would get more hours. I would be making more money that way. I'm thinking of applying to be an intern/apprenticeship to a tailor, then I would be getting experience and get paid! I think I could do it if I work hard enough.

And then there is always Starbucks.

I started my Advanced Sewing class yesterday! I wasn't expecting any sort of workload being the first day and all, but I was wrong. The moment the lab started we were working from 12:30 to 5:00. It was tough, but I enjoyed it. I didn't bring any of my stuff though! I wasn't the only one so no big deal. I met up with Savannah and she gave me a skirt she made for Christmas! It's a pretty pastel purple gathered skirt with lavender on it. I really like it.

I took the train home because parking is INSANITY on the first week of school! It was cool, the train goes really fast. I'm not going to keep taking the train though because I have to carry a lot of stuff to and from school so I bought a parking permit and I'm going to drive there; I won't have to lug my stuff so far or up any crazy hills.

The book I'm required to buy this semester is a paperback textbook that I managed to snag on Amazon for $11 including shipping! Much better than last semester where I had to shell out $140 for a heavy and oddly shaped textbook.

We're only doing three projects, but the emphasis is on quality so they are going to take some time. The first one is a pair of pants! I'm excited, I just hope I can keep up with it.

It has been raining here a lot, I am actually enjoying it. We have a good drainage system here. I'm so glad we don't have to worry about flooding.

Anyway I'm going to get some lunch now. I'll update again soon when my life gets more interesting!

New Years!

Last Wednesday David and I went to Mitsuwa for the first time in months! I was really excited for the new Kera, but they didn't have the new Gothic Lolita Bible or the new Alice Deco a la Mode; (honeyroyalty, alanna_lioness and I from the Btssb opening tea party are in it! (Partial scan here)

I have been really bored this last week I didn't have any work. It was a nice vacation, but unfortunately I didn't get paid so I've been poor! I did have some gift cards though, I bought leather bound copies of The Chronicles of Narnia, Grimm's Complete Fairy Tales, and Hans Christian Anderson's Fairy Tales and Other Stories. They look nice on my bookshelf next to my Mark Twain book. I love Mark Twain, he's one of my favorite authors. I also got a book called FASHION from the Kyoto Costume Institute. I have to say, it is amazing. It has fashions history and beautiful, stunning pictures from the last three centuries! I love it so much.

New Years kinda sucked. I spent all New Years Eve in an emotional wreak, I blame the hormones. For the big 2010, we went and hopped the fence into AJ's swimming pool complex to use the jacuzzi, and that's when I realized how seditary I have become. It was absolutely terrifying and I hate being the typical girl who can't climb a fence, but it's so hard for me because I'm so small and the fence is so big! (That and my lack of upper body strength)

So I've been having problems with my cell phone, and they sent me a new one, but that one is even more defective! It wouldn't read my SIM card. :( Also it looks like I would lose all of my downloaded content! D: I would rather keep my phone but it's too late for that. I'll call them and bitch and get money refunded to buy all of my things back!

I went back to work the other day, and I was like, "So you want me on full time, right?" I say this because when I was working part time for school, he would always bitch and whine about me not being there enough. But he said he can't afford me full time, so tough break for him! I'm looking for another job that will be flexible and pay me more. Today is my day off work and I'm also taking Thursday off. I did the math, I work three days out of a seven day week. It's pathetic. I'm thinking, if I can't find a new office job for my schedule, then maybe I'll start working part time in the service industry? Waitress, Taco Bell, maybe Target, as long as they are flexible. I'm trying to save up enough money to go to Japan in October! I'm super excited, I'm going to buy unbelievable amounts of clothes and shit. And THE FOOD! OMG!

Also, I'm starting my advanced sewing class in two weeks! I'm actually dreading it because I don't know if I will have enough money for books and stuff. But it is kind of exciting to be starting this up again.

I think Savannah is mad at me, she won't answer my text messages. I don't know why though.

OK, so my New Years Resolutions are as follows:

Start doing cardio, lifting weights and maybe some yoga

Take a dance class in the summer

Make more money so I can spend more money, and still save up to go to Japan

Go to Japan

I've never officially made resolutions for New Years before, but I always have goals.

So yesterday was Christmas, and I was all over the place. In the morning I opened presents with my family, I got some cool stuff like a blow dryer and some gift cards. After that, we went to my grandparent's house and visited with them for a while. I rode in my sister's bro truck and listened to some music, but I really didn't like it. (I'm not really into rock) I came home in the afternoon and went to Brandon's house because his mom bought me some Christmas presents too! Then, when I came home, it was late and I was ready to go to sleep but stayed up watching some movies on TV with the family and waited for my dad to come and have Christmas with us (at 10 pm!) He got me two gift cards, one to Express and one to Barnes and Noble :) IN TOTAL I HAD LIKE FOUR CHRISTMASES ON THE SAME DAY??

Brandon got me Juicy Couture fragrance and it smells soooo good on me, I don't know how to explain it except that I love it and it smells really good!

This morning I slept in and took a shower, I used the 2-step protein treatment on my hair and my broken hair tips feel a lot better. My new blow dryer helped a lot, it has a nice diffuser on it and tons of settings! I can independently control the temperature and the air flow. Unfortunately, I have to go all the way back to my Grandma and Grandpa's house again today for the family Christmas party. IT'S TWO HOURS AWAY. I don't know why we couldn't do this yesterday it's so stupid. They always have this really fruity Christmas program where we sing and play instruments and listen to my Grandpa's horrible story he wrote. (I don't blame him, I blame his journalism degree) The only thing I'm looking forward to is dinner and the white elephant gift exchange. I have to go, not only because it's Christmas, but my cousin David just got back from his mission. He's been gone two years! So crazy!

Good thing I only have to deal with this once a year.

This last week hasn't been too fun or exciting. I blew a lot of money on PMX and I didn't get paid a lot, so I have only enough money for bills, tithing, and I managed to pay for my schooling next semester. I still need $55 for a parking permit and an ID card, which I'll buy later.

But other than that, I have about $100 and a full tank of gas to get me to my next paycheck on the 30th. I can do it, but I need to buy some groceries and brown bag lunch at work, and no more Starbucks runs.

I am going to Mitsuwa tomorrow after work, so if any of you want me to pick up anything for you, let me know. I myself probably won't buy much besides some yummy drinks and maybe a gal or fruits magazine. ~~And collagen~~ I have quite a collection of magazines I have been hoarding and I'm thinking of ways to organize them when I get my own room:

I'm just not certain how sturdy it would be. Magazines are heavy!

I also want to go to Book Off and see if they have any more Sugar Sugar Rune mangas! I love that series so much, I just finished episode 48, but episodes 49 through 54 aren't subbed yet! I don't really consider myself an anime or manga fan, but I absolutely adore this series.

I am at quite a loss about what I'm going to do about Christmas presents. I really want to buy nice and thoughtful things this year, I guess that's why they invented credit cards, right?

I was so bored yesterday! After I got home from class, I took a nap for a few hours. I woke up and did nothing but computer stuff, ate, and went to bed early. Boring! I wanted to hang out with someone but everyone had plans. My sister bought me taco bell. You know I can always go for cheesy fiesta potatoes :9 I am boycotting pizza hut express breadsticks because they make me so tired I can't move.

Also, Bad Romance is the best music video ever and is my new favorite Lady Gaga song.

There is so much stuff I want to buy it's not even funny.

PS: Sarah was on AIM last night! She lost her phone and has been MIA. She hasn't gone to work or been home. She's been sleeping on Denny's benches late at night and hanging out with Beck and Josh at their place.

PMX was so fun! On the first day we arrived a little early because Lindsay was there already, being all VIP and everything. I was fretting the whole time because I wanted to buy the Stary Night Theatre print from AP... but Lindsay picked up the only version I wanted. /pout/ It turned out better that way, because OMG I almost ran out of money. o__o So glad they had a swap meet, because I would have been too broke to eat otherwise. I bought a TON of stuff:

LA Weekly took our picture and asked us some questions while we were waiting for Lindsay! They literally cornered us. We're in a corner.

AND OMG THEY HAD A PURIKURA MACHINE. Best marketing ploy ever, it was $10 for one sheet of photos! BUT SO WORTH IT! These are amazing! The machine had some enthusiastic woman demanding us to pose in Japanese, and we were so confused.

The tea party was nice, except it was catered by the hotel so it wasn't much of a tea party. They served us nasty old cake and Bigelow tea packets. GROSS!

Maki and Asuka described inspirations behind most of their recent prints, and that was fun and interesting to listen to. Then we had bingo, and they gave out a lot of stuff! Like, three dresses, some skirts, cutsews, socks, hairbows etc. Almost everyone won something! Those who didn't got postcards, and everyone got a stary night theatre postcard, along with a box of macaroons and a goodie bag! They went all out this year, last year we only got tote bags, but this year I got a tote and a photo album in the black memorial cake print. It's really cute! I sold my magic whip tote from last year but I think I'm keeping this one. :)

We also went to the Paillon and Takuya Angel Panel, It was really interesting. I got my CD autographed by him and his wife. She's so adorable, OMG. After looking on their website, I realize I need this bag. Someday soon!

PMX was a lot of fun and I packed a lot into only two days. We never had to leave the hotel, and that helped a lot, especially for the swap meet.

FYI I'm still on the lookout for the Stary Night Theatre strapless JSK in blue!

Excited for PMX

I'm so excited for PMX this weekend!

I've been working more than usual to make up for time off this Friday, and it's been horrible. School and work on the same day is just too intense for me, I don't know how so many people can do it.

I dyed my hair last night, and when everything was said and done, it came out this weird fuschia color. It's kind of awesome but it's not what I wanted. We did my extensions too, and they came out a nice candy pink, but that's not what I wanted either. :( I wanted a cotton candy pink. We made the dye too vibrant.

So my boss is letting me come to work with pink hair from now on! He says he doesn't care. No more wig hair! YES! Wig hair is the worst.

So I have a busy schedule this week. I work until 5 every day and after work today David wants to go to the Escondido mall, on Wednesday we want to bleach my pink and get it a little lighter, and on Thursday I'll probably have to clean/fix up everything I'm selling and get my car packed. Then on Friday, we're leaving early and heading up to LAX! I hope there isn't too much traffic, I hate driving in traffic.

I decided not to sell my flute, but I expect to sell between $100 to $200 at PMX on Friday.

Also, my shirt project is looking really good! I'm almost finished! I just have to attach the sleeves, buttons and buttonholes, and then the hems! I enjoy serging.

Edit: OMG! I just found some extra money in my paypal account! Just in time for PMX :P

Sorry I never update

It's been a whole month since I've had a real entry! I think I never update because I just don't like writing. But a lot of stuff has happened in October!

I bought a Disneyland Pass!! I'm always looking for an excuse to go to Disneyland so LET'S GO!

I recently have been getting more and more into lolita fashion again, but for different reasons. It appeals to me now more than ever because of theatrical and interesting designs, and not just for being supah cawahii.

I am going to PMX next week! I wasn't sure if I wanted to go or not, but I'm so glad I signed up for it, because there is so much stuff going on this year! Tarina Tarantino will be there, h.naoto, Angelic Pretty of course (going to the tea party) and so much more! Seriously excited. Too bad I can't stay the whole time, only going on Friday and Saturday. I'll be setting up shop at the swap meet on Friday night too, so keep your eyes peeled for me with my pink hair and colorful accessories, because I am selling a ton of stuff, shoes, clothes, magazines, bags you name it. Even if you don't buy anything, just stop by and talk to me because I will be bored!

I've had a bit of dilemma with shoes, I tried so hard to find the Yosuke rose corsage rocking horse shoes in a white size 22.5 cm, and it simply doesn't exist or something. SOLD OUT. I am so sad. I would lay down some serious dough on those shoes. In the meantime, I bought lolita lola rhs and hopefully they get here in time. I want to DIY a white pleather rose with diamond studs to replicate the Yosuke ones. (* u*)b

In other news, I am selling my flute. I haven't touched it in three years, and I'm either going to use the money to buy the wrong thing (h.naoto cage apron) or the right thing (a synthesizer). I'm a little conflicted.

Also I'm taking collagen drinks! They will make me pretty and my lips poppin'

So it's the first day of October

The weather and air seemed to change overnight. There are so many things I love about this season other than Halloween. The leaves changing colors, the smell of seasonal spices, a warm drink in my hand, heavy jackets, among many other things.

When asked what my favorite season was, I would always answer "summer" because that's when I didn't have to worry about school. But I think, truly, that autumn is my favorite season.

Here in southern California, it is hot year round, except for the winter months when it's chilly. October is usually when it is nice and cool, light jacket weather, or at least it is supposed to be. Here, it gets so dry and so hot that fires start. It's not fun.

I want to live somewhere with lots of flora and trees. Somewhere nice an green and cool, but I don't like snow. Any suggestions? I was thinking Vancouver or Berkeley.

There are so many places I want to visit. I mean, the list just goes on and on.

I want to travel Europe. It's such an old culture that has preserved its history and art so well. I want to fly to London, and than travel by train to Paris and Italy and all the little countries in between and around. I would just go. I also want to visit Mexico City and Vancouver.

Japan is of course ichiban on my list, but mostly because there is so much stuff I want to buy there that isn't available to me online. I've been buying Kera magazine every month, and every time I just want to scream because I can't have any of that.

I've been taking a beginning sewing class, and so far, I'm doing very well. I understand how things work and how to read patterns. I am only working on my second project so far, but by the end of this class I think I should be able to read and make commercial patterns. I want to take advanced sewing and fashion design too.

Of course, the reason I want to do this is so I can make these clothes I can't buy. I know that in general American fashion and Japanese fashion have their similarities, but America doesn't have the interesting spin on fashion that they do. (Harajuku and Kera Magazine) Our fashion is more about fitting in than anything else.

I like this fashion not because I want attention. I like it because it stands out, it's different. Everyone in history who made a lasting impression was different or extraordinary in some way. Life is just too short to fit in.

On that note, I decided to dye my hair pink again! My hair has been silver/grey for a while now, and I like it and everything, but I just really like pink hair. I'm going to try and fade my pink extensions with hot water and dish soap, and see if I can use those as clip in extensions. I want a really really light pink with white parts, but mostly a light pink. I am genuinely excited for it, but not so much for dusting off the wig for work again.

I've been busy since my last post!

Last weekend I went up to San Francisco for the New People store opening!

IT WAS A MADHOUSE

There were so many people! It was really eye opening seeing all these people with similar interests. It was different from a convention, because there wasn't an anime pressense even though it was made possible by Viz media. It was my kind of crowd!

I went with David, and in order to save money on plane tickets extended our trip. We left San Diego on Thursday and stayed at alanna_lioness's apartment! It was really nice of her to let us stay there.

There was a lot of press coverage and lots of pictures taken, and I'm going to share the few that I took.

This is what I looked like on Friday! we slept in a ton and didn't leave the house until like 3:30 pm hahaha. We went straight for the movie theatre in Davis to watch Ponyo! I was very impressed with the movie, I am never dissapointed with Studio Ghibli. I can't wait for it to come out on DVD!

I was one of the first 50 people to spend over $200 at Baby the Stars Shine Bright, so I was invited to a VIP tea party the next day! Success!

It was unfortunate that the pay line took so long, it absolutely destroyed my feet. I was not gellin' :(

The next day we got to New People to take a look at the restocked items and hang out. I didn't really see anything new so I didn't buy anymore. By the way, I don't have any pictures of what I bought yet because I forgot! I am lame

After we had crepes at the J-town mall I absolutely HAD to take pictures with the touristy geishi/samurai boards!

At the tea party they had a question and answer panel! I don't have a lot of pictures here because I was too busy having fun and it slipped my mind

They had an example of one of their newest prints, it was the runway sample. They had rhinestones sewn in, it was really quite an effect to see it sparkle across the room, it was like magic. So you know, of course I had to make obnoxious poses next to it once I got the chance!

We also got pictures with the model and the desinger, but Lindsay has them on her camera and I will post them later.

It sure was a busy weekend and I am SO BUMMED that 6% DOKI DOKI is a LIMITED STORE UNTIL SEP 15! I wish I could have stayed and shopped longer and harder, but my shopping endurance is a lot less than I thought. I nearly blacked out on the first day and had to leave early. I want to go back very soon, possibly at the end of September/early October? (That's when Lindsay's birthday is!) Depends on how much money I will have!

Fantasy Careers

I say that I want to go to school for fashion design, but there are just so many things I could see myself doing that aren't really careers.

I want to be a medicine woman and grow an herb garden, diagnose and treat ails and pains and be regarded as wise and strange.

I want to travel the world with nothing but a camera and a backpack, picking up on different cultures and languages and relying on odd jobs and the kindness of strangers. (Possible with http://www.couchsurfing.org/)

I want to be a tinker and fix things that are broken.

I want to live in a library and read all day and all night.

I want to be an extra in all movies, so when I go watch them I can spot myself and be a tiny, timeless part of history.

I want to work in a tea shop that sells a wide variety of tea exclusively. Not a coffee shop that sells tea, a tea shop. I love talking about different kinds of tea, how they grow, what they are infused with, what they can be used for, it really gets me going.

I want to be an interior designer, but no one would like my designs because I'm way too into fantasy and all of my designs would reflect that.

I want to be an artist, the kind that doesn't make any money and lives in a shitty little studio and spends all of the money they make on more paint and canvas.

As you can tell, I clearly don't want to have anything to do with the rat race that has taken over modern society and culture, I don't want to go to work at 8 am, take a lunch break at noon and stop working at 5 pm. I want something more than the daily grind.

OK, I don't know why or how, but that savings account I mentioned? Yeah, basically nothing now. I didn't even go on a shopping spree or anything. Part of me wishes I did. I was doing some online shopping and came accross some pure awesomeness:

This credit card business is scary. I feel like I've been spending more now that I have it! Urgh! Got to start making lunches at home. Problem is, I don't really have food. When my mom buys "groceries" she just buys milk and pop tarts or something.

I really really want to go to Disneyland before the night show is discontinued. I think it ends August 20th. I was planning on getting an annual pass the next time I go, because I'm a southern California resident, I can pay with payments every month! And there's no interest! And they use the first day's admission as a down payment! To get the pass with no blackout dates and free parking, I would have to pay less than $30 a month! How could I not afford Disneyland for $30 a month?? Only problem is, I need to find someone to buy an annual pass with. I can't go to Disneyland alone!

I also really need to buy more work appropriate/casual clothes.

Swine Flu

OK, why is everyone making such a fuss about the swine flu? It has affected, what, 40 Americans out of 300 MILLION?

I understand that this strain of flu could get nasty if it isn't contained, but the numbers are just so low right now, and it seems that the WHO is on it. So, dear world news providers, cover something that matters, like the violence in the Middle East! And stop spamming my homepage with pictures of people wearing medical masks, like it's some sort of pandemic. (It's common practice in Asia to wear a mask if you're sick so you don't affect others)

Sorry for the rant! I haven't made a real journal entry in a long time, and I should, and I will.

I decided to drop my art class. I knew it was going to be a lot of work, and it was fun for a while, but it's not fun anymore. So I quit.

I've been cussing so bad in my head, I'm afraid I'll blurt it out at a bad time.

I need to paint my nails and do some other treatments after work today, which may or may not involve avocados and shower caps. I want to look fabulous for An Cafe!

So my car has been making funky noises whenever I switch gears and turn it on, so I decided to get it checked out before I drove up to LA this weekend for An Cafe, and good thing I did. It turns out my muffler was loose and needed to be replaced. It's relatively cheap to install, so I'm not worried. Getting a car repaired when you work a 9-5 job is really a pain in the ass, because auto shops open at 9 and close at 5.

So coordinating with someone else to drive you around, as well as getting time off from work is just a really stressful situation. But my car is likely fixed by now, and all is well. All I need to do now is clean it, and we are ready for our road trip! I'm really excited! David bought window paint, and he's going to write "NYAPPY!1! o(≧∀≦)o" or something to that effect on my back window

We're planning on leaving David's house at like, 6:00 a.m. so we can beat LA traffic and get in line for An Cafe Meet and Great tickets by 8-ish or sooner. I really don't know. Since I'm driving, I have to pick up Brandon and David before we leave, I have to get up the earliest. ._. I have to wake up at... 3:30 a.m. Not fun. Not fun. I'm going to have granola cereal, a banana, and some sort of energy drink for breakfast to keep me going.

I'LL BRING MY CAMERA THIS TIME ~~Just not to the venue, I don't want another scare like the last An Cafe concert~~

With all this money that has been going in and out of my checking account, I'm sort of confused about what my actual balance is. So I rename my bank account "Nebula" because it is constantly changing shape. (I named my savings account "Cheesecake")

This morning, my mom couldn't drive me so Brandon picked me up from my house at 8:45, and we went to Firestone to pick up my car, drove it to Warner Muffler, and drove me to work. So much driving! HE IS THE BEST BOYFRIEND EVER.

I also picked up a tamale for lunch before work today. I LOVE TAMALES. Srsly like my favorite Mexican food. I had that a long with a few of my other favorite foods today, and I feel a bit like a glutton, it tasted so good. Isn't it weird that you can't buy tamales anywhere besides, like, ALBERTSONS?? Either that or they are spontaneously delivered to your door! Why do they not exist at restaurants? T_T I had the biggest craving for one a few days ago, and instead got the most disgusting cheese enchilada (with a side of mosquito and gnat mix) ever.

OK! Here is an account of what I did two weekends ago. Boy am I prompt.

I drove up to Lindsay's house and ended up getting there at 10:30 at night. I was soooo tired, but managed to stay up until 1:00 in the am because of Adult Swim. Lindsay stayed up even later!

The next day we dragged our sorry butts out of bed and into the car to go to the Royal T Alice themed tea party. It took us forever, but we were finally sat.

For some reason, it took us like 30 minutes to get our food AFTER Lindsay and Andrew got their food??? We had the same check and everything. But that was the Queen's high tea for me, and it was amazing. :9

The next day we went up to Culver City again to go to the ANAP store and eat Japanese pastries and crepes and I had an awesome time. I spent way too much money though, hahaha~
