KINSHIP
KINSHIP
I have seen black beetles blindly
stagger through the dust,
limbs entangled
in some spider’s web,
drunken dragglings in the dust
mark its painful progress.
A pathetic sight,
yet I confess,
I feel a kinship, out of all size and place,
for this blind and bumbling insect
in its doomed and futile race.
