KILLING A VAMPIRE
Killing a Vampire
It’s not like how it happens on TV.
On TV you just whack a wooden stake
right thru their rotten old heart
and they explode in a cloud of dust.
In real Life it can take hours.
All that terrible screeching and clawing,
I’ve got scratches all up my arms,
my sleeves are ripped to shreds,
I should probably get a tetanus shot, but,
No.. they don’t go quietly.
Strangely though,
they can rarely look you in the eye
when you’re killing them,
but then,
they could never face a mirror either.
It’s a horrible thing to have to go thru,
but don’t lose your resolve,
or your grip on the stake,
as they squirm and twist,
cursing and hissing
and looking for the slightest sign
of hesitation, pity or guilt.
Ignore the yelling,
don’t worry what the neighbours will think,
just keep telling yourself;
Dawn will be coming soon,
and with it
the Light.
