Seems like lately I've been more and more lonely. I think that's a little ridiculous, since I've got a lot of friends, but--

I don't know. I guess I've just been thinking about how half the school is like, dating each other and fighting over each other and I've just never had time for that. Still don't.

And now I'm kind of wishing that I do. Did. Would? Not sure.

Silly. Really silly. I don't even know why I'm writing this.

She has an extreme amount of courage and bravery, and when faced with various torture instruments and alligators, she doesn’t even bat an eye. She’s an individual that’s a mover and shaker and fearlessly forges ahead into new territory or dangerous situations. Roxanne is a bit of a force to be reckoned with, and displays a decent amount of curiosity and an insurmountable amount of energy. She doesn’t take things lying down, and when the fate of her City is on the brink of destruction, she takes matters into her own hands and fearlessly breaks into Megamind's lair, then heads directly into the hot zone when everyone else in the general area is fleeing.

She’s forthcoming and extremely direct – she’s a brutally honest individual that has no problem slipping in an added dose of sarcasm when she deems it necessary (which seems to be often when dealing with Megamind/Melvin himself). She has no hidden agenda, unlike many, and puts the city and it’s people before herself, even when she knows deep down she has no superpowers to actually stop the destruction, or defend herself. She rushes headlong into situations without first thinking out the consequences, but it’s because she has others best interests at heart. She’s a confident type of person and has the innate resources to deal with new ideas and situations.

Exceptionally stubborn and hardheaded, Roxanne is an independent type of woman – she lives alone, has a career that she worked for, and in general takes care of herself. She’s loyal to her friends and those she cares about, and displays a certain amount of generosity and compassion throughout the film. She’s a little short-tempered and impulsive, but these aren’t necessarily negative traits so much as they are simply attributes that help define and shape her as a strong woman that doesn’t like taking no for an answer. She’s a go-getter and has no issue leading the way, and leaves an impression on nearly everyone she meets, be it positive or negative.

As a fifteen year old, little of this changes - she's still incredibly determined and forthright, and she wants to do her best and excel in all of her classes so that she can make a difference and maybe some day work at the Daily Prophet, or maybe even the Ministry. She's studious and talented in her writing, but dislikes being told when she's wrong or if there's the off chance that she might have some minute detail wrong. She's still incredibly sarcastic but has little issue socializing and making friends easily.

She's incredibly loyal to her friends and still believes that everyone has some good in them, except maybe Melvin, but even he has been known to make her smile when no one else is looking.

Canon Background:
Roxanne’s life seems to be compromised of two absolute certainties – she is going to get kidnapped by Megamind and she is going to be rescued by Metro Man. That’s how the story always goes, isn’t it? The girl is kidnapped by the evil mastermind and the handsome, heroic superhero boyfriend swoops in to save the day.

Except Roxanne is hardly a damsel, and Metro Man is hardly her boyfriend.

But we’re really getting off subject here, aren’t we?

This story starts off as so many others do – abducted after delivering her news report, Roxanne is whisked to Megamind’s lair where she is promptly tied to a chair and is used as bait (again) to lure Metro Man into the city’s observatory where Megamind intends to kill him with a death ray comprised of the power of the sun. Fairly standard, really. No one really expects Megamind to succeed, because he never does. Good always conquers and all that jazz.

Except this time it doesn’t. Megamind’s plan seems flawed enough for Metro Man to escape as per routine, but the super proclaims that the inside of the observatory is lined with copper, which he says drains his power. A giant explosion from the Death Ray distracts Roxanne and Megamind, and when the skeleton of Metro Man lands at the feet of Roxanne and Megamind they’re both shocked (along with the rest of the city) that Megamind had actually managed to do it.

Initially, Megamind is happy that he has defeated his archenemy for the first time ever, but he quickly grows depressed over the fact that without someone worthy to fight, his life as a supervillain has no purpose. Coincidentally, he and Roxanne both visit the Metro Man museum late one evening, both sadly lamenting the lost hero. They are both told to scram by the curator Bernard, but while doing so Megamind is nearly caught by Roxanne. As a last ditch attempt to hide himself from her, he disguises himself as Bernard. Their discussion prompts Megamind to brainstorm and come up with a totally foolproof plan: create a new superhero to fight using a serum of Metro Man's DNA.

Because nothing about this can go wrong.

Later, hoping to uncover any evil plans Megamind has for the city, Roxanne breaks into Megamind's lair (dragging ‘Bernard’ along for the ride) and fights with him over his syringe gun containing the serum. During the scuffle, the gun is accidentally fired and injected into Roxanne's somewhat dimwitted cameraman Hal Stewart.

Roxanne steals some of Megaminds things and makes a replica of his ‘desk’ in her apartment while she tries to figure out what his plans are. She begins to see ‘Bernard’ and begins to date him, going to dinner and parks and bike riding with him. While Megamind is wooing Roxanne as Bernard, he is training Tighten and pretending to be is ‘Space Dad’ in order to create a hero worth fighting against. Oh, and he’s also trying to keep Minion from finding out about Bernard and Roxanne.

…This all gets a little convoluted, to be frank.

While on a break from training, Tighten attempts to use his powers to impress Roxanne, but is quickly rejected by her. He sees her and Barnard having dinner together and grows jealous and angry. Roxanne is somewhat aware of this, but she’s told Hal no for so many years that it doesn’t occur to her that he will be fueled by that rejection and eventually turn against the city instead of fighting for it.

During a dinner with Bernard, Megamind’s disguise is shut off and she realizes that it’s been him all along – lying to her and deceiving her. Obviously hurt and feeling very betrayed, she rejects him and walks home in the rain. The relationship seems at a stand still and the animosity is brought back tenfold, though they do team up to go to Metro Man’s secret hideout in order to hunt down clues on how to bring down Tighten, who has begun to wreck havoc.

To the surprise of the two, at the hideout they find Metro Man very much alive and well and learn that he faked his death (along with his weakness to copper, which explains why it didn’t bother Tighten). Metro Man explains that he faked it in order to retire from being a superhero and live his true passion: music. Megamind and Roxanne try to persuade Metro Man to defeat Tighten, but he refuses. Roxanne wants to take down Tighten themselves, but Megamind instead also refuses and turns himself in.

Not one to be discouraged easily, Roxanne heads into the city herself in order to try and persuade Tighten to stop. Unfortunately, Tighten’s compassion is at absolute zero and instead kidnaps her and uses her as bait to lure Megamind out.

Funny how things come back around like that, isn’t it?

Megamind is broken out of prison by Minion in disguise after a heartfelt apology and goes to save her. After an epic battle in the city, Megamind defeats Tighten by finding the location of the invisible car (after Roxanne’s confession that she did look back that night in the rain) and draining Metro Man's DNA from his body. This strips Tighten stripping him of his powers, and Hal ends up in arrested and thrown in Megamind’s former prison cell. Megamind is embraced by Roxanne and Metro City as its new defender, and the bad guy finally gets the girl.

Background (AU!Canon; HP): [Crimson]

Roxanne was born in Leeds, West Yorkshire - and had a fairly standard childhood. Her parents raised her as a single daughter just on the outskirts of town for several years, until her father's work moved them into the bigger city proper. As a young, vivacious five year old, Roxanne loved it.

She went to school, and moved through her primary education , doing exceptionally well in reading and writing. When she was old enough to understand, Roxanne was sat down for 'The Talk'.

Except, it wasn't exactly what she expected. Instead of birds and bees (that came later), Roxanne got a speech about how her mother wasn't just a normal woman - she was a witch.

At first, Roxanne thought they were kidding. Then, when she realized that they weren't, she thought that it was the most amazing thing ever and thusly demanded to know when she would get to be a witch too and where was her mother's pointy had and broomstick?

Everything was laid out in plain detail for her, that if she did indeed have the talent, there were those people that would, in fact, know, and she would be informed via owl.

And informed she was. The day Roxanne got her Hogwarts letter she was overjoyed, and didn't waste a moments time in trying to get her things together in order to go to school - the place her mother and father told her stories about, the place where adventures were to be had, the place where she could learn magic.

At age eleven, her parents shipped her off to Hogwarts, and Roxanne has loved every minute of it. She threw herself into her studies but certainly didn't forget to have a bit of fun, either - though during her first year she made quick 'enemies' with Melvin McGrath when she pointed out the error of his ways during a class. A debate erupted, and upon conferring with a textbook, it was confirmed that Roxanne was, indeed, correct.

The boy was humiliated and spent several days trying to get back at her with various attempts to jinx, prank, and hex her or her items - though never, ever would he actually harm her. This...naturally caused Roxanne no small amount of anger, and a lovely antagonistic relationship and rivalry blossomed that has continued over the course of their schooling and has eventually developed into a crush (that neither will confess to).

[Clover]

How would your character fit in to each House?
Gryffindor: Roxanne could easily fit into Gryffindor - her nerve and courage pushes her through the final battle with Tighten, and she's extremely plucky besides. She doesn't let anything get in the way of her fighting for what's right, and her bravery is one of her notable characteristics.

Hufflepuff: She is a loyal friend and does work hard, though she has little tolerance and only gives one second chance. However, Roxanne is about fair play and doing what's right.

Ravenclaw: Roxanne's intelligence is another of her defining characteristics, and her indomitable wit is one of the things that keeps her right on par with Melvin and his snark.

Slytherin: The only qualification Roxanne lacks from this house would be pureblood - she's cunning, extremely resourceful and nosy, quick witted and ambitious - not to mention she takes charge when no one else will, or are afraid to.

Sample Journal Entry:

I haven't really been paying much attention to this thing have I? I guess I've just been so busy with classes and homework and all I haven't had a chance to really be as social as I'd like.

...

Speaking of classes - If anyone has any information as to why all of my scrolls are enchanted with blue ink, I'd really appreciate it, because this is not funny.

[Melvin, she's talking to you.]

Also, Halloween is coming up - anyone else really excited?

Sample Interaction Post in Third Person:

What are you up to, Melvin?

Roxanne sat on her bed, notes splattered out in front of her in a mess of papers, folders, books, and quills. Decorated and hand drawn note cards hung suspended from nothing above her bed, dangling remnants of the now destroyed photographs she had taken while snooping around near his house. The decrepit little radio she had bewitched sat adjacent to her current disarray of paper data (along with a cup of cold pumpkin juice and a half eaten pastry) and was still merrily piping out a rendition and overly redone version of some magical love ballad that had had been overplayed, redone, and abused for years and it was really beginning to grate on Roxanne's one last nerve.

"Okay, enough!" She slapped the power button and the boom box sputters quietly before falling silent. It was bad enough the enchantment was dying, but hearing a song like that at a time like this when she was so close -

No more distractions. She needed complete silence.

Her fingers tapped against the scrolls of paper in annoyance, but it mostly passed and she went back to carefully arranging her notes, combining patterns and observations into something far easier for her to reference. It was hard, though - there were so many thoughts swirling in her mind and instead of coming up with ideas and foundations and theories, she found herself idly doodling in the margins, quill pressed firmly against the page in an unconscious vengeance that the paper doesn't particularly deserve.

Finally, eventually - she dropped the quill onto her bed and she roughly stood up, shoving her notes to the side and ignoring the indignant squawk of a nearby roommate at the ruckus it made.

"I need some air," she announced to no one in particular. With that proclamation, she donned her jacket and left the comfort of the room, heading towards the outside - she was intent on gathering her thoughts and getting her mind back on track.
