Remove Empty Directories is a very simple application that does exactly what its name states: deletes empty folders. Imagine yourself having a deep folder structure, or at least some kind of structure where some folders are empty or of no interest. For instance, like if you had a lot of duplicate files in different directories and used some software to delete all the duplicates. Now you have some empty folders, or folders with just junk files, like thumbs.db, desktop.ini, but no real content. With Remove Directories you can just select the base directory and delete all the empty subfolders.
The program is very flexible, and has safety options (which prevent the Recycler Bin from being deleted, for instance). You can also define which files are of no interest, meaning that even if they exist in that folder, as long as they are the only ones there, the folder should be considered empty and deleted. One of the improvements to expect in forthcoming versions is the possibility to graphically select the folders to be deleted. At present, Remove Empty Folder always assumes empty folders should be deleted, unless they are in the “skip list”. The “skip list” is not that flexible, since it is just a list of words. This means you cannot just pick and choose from the main representation of your folders which ones to keep, and which to remove.
