Remote Software Developer

Description:

• The Eclipse Foundation is a globally recognized nonprofit organization that supports a vibrant community of open source projects and contributors.
• The organization is seeking a Software Developer to support, modernize, and improve the services and tools used by the Eclipse Foundation staff and open source project teams.
• This role focuses on developing, maintaining, and evolving project-facing systems, working across PHP and Drupal to support the Project Management Infrastructure (PMI).
• The developer will also use Python to automate internal processes and data-related tasks, and contribute to Java and JavaScript-based services that support project governance.
• Responsibilities include maintaining and evolving the PMI, developing project-related services in Java and JavaScript, designing automation for internal processes, refactoring legacy services, collaborating with the project team, applying secure coding practices, and writing technical documentation.

Requirements:

• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience is required.
• Experience developing and maintaining PHP applications, including Drupal 11, is necessary.
• Candidates should have experience working on backend services and scripts using Python, Java, and/or JavaScript.
• A strong understanding of CI/CD systems and how software moves from development to production is essential.
• Experience with Docker-based development workflows is required.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes or OKD from a development and integration perspective is needed.
• Experience working with MariaDB, including schema design and performance considerations, is necessary.
• Familiarity with NGINX and web application deployment concepts is required.
• Experience using logging and monitoring tools to support application reliability is essential.
• Familiarity with Git-based workflows and collaboration with distributed development teams is necessary.
