So, in my small bouts of time to myself, I've been working on a private project.
I've been getting into puppets for a while, and finally got around to actually making one!

It's also one of my rarer attempts at making something cartoony.

So meet, er... the as yet unnamed coyote!

You can see he's quite a big puppet. Those of you who know Destiny will see the size reference. His head's bigger than hers!
It's hard to take pictures with such a big puppet. He's better being puppeteered, but I couldn't do that and hold the camera. My beautiful *cough* assistant was playing WOW when I took these. The t'other was at a works 'do.
He has a cute pink tongue. Currently no teeth or pawpads, tho I do have teeth made. I just don't know if he needs them.

Who wants to help me name him? I maaaay go with a suggeston. (Warning, I'm picky). ;)

Looks like Gary and I will be in L.A. this coming weekend (after Thanksgiving).
We'll be in late friday night, staying over in Santa Fe Springs.

So, Saturday day we should be about, mebbe even doing Disney. Who knows. Anyone else around?

Then sunday we'll be in the garment district, then home James!

Paying for it is not a problem, as it's not my money. This is a research assignment that might lead me a job.

I've been looking at stock footage places, but it's all just generic.

Meridian Shout Out

Much as the main game (in the village) got postponed for 2007, we are still running a Beta Game at a new site for interested peoples. This is a full game, just without the town. It will also be used to fine tune the rules for publication.

This game is only $36 for the entire weekend, and involves some meals. Details HERE

I strongly recommend that people pre-book, as we will have to turn people away at the door if we hit capacity (around 100 players).

Big theatrical commission just assured, so we might even have money soon! Woo! Rent!

In other news, new roomie is in, and has not been eaten by the dog, and, vice versa, the dog seems to be uneaten as well, so all is good :)
It's cool to have more people to come home to.

Rent got raised, which was no suprise really, so double glad about this. :)

Currently finishing a commission for guy in japan.
Next week is sculpting week! Woo!

(I've been asked to post this entry on the community. If you read my personal or company website, I apologise for making you skim it one more time). ;)

These will soon end up on the new website as well, but here is a sampling of what we have been working on recently.
Some of you may have seen some of these at FC, and hopefully we'll see a lot of our stuff out and about in 2006!

So, fox masks have been pretty popular, and turned out pretty well. Here is a closer look at one of them:

And one commission was for the full fox body suit - here is a nice picture that shows it's curvy shape in profile:

Hey there

I'm looking for some artists to add some co ntent for the big larp game rule book and website that is going up soon.

I'll be needing pictures of some of the character races and cultures. Existing art is cool, or new stuff. I just need permission to use it.

What you get:

A link from the website to your personal site (as long as most content is PG rated, with warnings to other stuff)
A link to your website in the end of the rules book
Eternal Kudos
Some possible in-game advantages for contributors.
There will be a lot of people attending, watching the site and buying the rule book, so it might well open up a few doors for you. Not too shoddy eh?

Call for help

So, some of you might remember that i've been trying to start a UK style LARP (Live Action Role Playing) game here in the U.S.

Well, things have been developing well, we have the go-ahead from the site, and a date.
The game will happen Labor Day Weekend 2006. That's the 1st to the 4th I believe.

It is a camping weekend, and there are hotels nearby - i'm looking for players from all over the U.S. and abroad. We even have Brits flying out.

The site has a full medieval/renaissance town already there:

These pictures are just a tiny amount of what this site offers.

We will have beer, mead, wine and spirits available to buy on site (none can be brought on) and food can be purched as well, although you are free to bring your own.
The game will be 18yrs+ or 15-17 with a legal parent accompanying.
It will be held in L.A. In Southern California's only permanent renaissance village (more will become available soon).

We need 500 players minimum to make this work, so I need everyone to tell their friends and get as many as possible.
I think we can accommodate up to about 2000. So more is better!
Please, bring your entire ren group - be remember this is larp, so there will be creatures, plots, murder and much much more! Possibly even a fire breathing dragon ;)

This is a UK style event - we are open to many hobby groups, including but not limited to:
LARP
Reinactment
Recreation
SCA
Furries
Lord Of The Rings fans
Vampire/Werewolf fans
Comic Fans
Anyone that has ever seen a fantastical movie and wants to live it for a weekend!

(All must come in costume to participate ... more on that later)

And we are also looking to recruit:
Traders
Food Vendors
People with skills to teach players

Also, we are desperately seeking someone with some talent who can make us a really kick-arse website!
We just need something easy to read with the logo at the side, possibly a few pictures which change as pages are selected, a expanding menu we can use to put the rules online, and soon, a short online promotional trailer.
Take a peek at the Maelstrom site for ideas, I think they did this really well.

We'd also like to get an online pre-booking system up and running within the site as well. Possibly using PayPal.

Anyone? We need this desperately.
We can offer no money, but can give free entrance, and character advances.

We are also looking to find sponsors. Does anyone have any dealings with this?
Does anyone have contacts or know anyone we can approach?

People like:
Home Depot to donate supplies for the site
Circuit City to donate printers/computers
Office World for paper/laminators and accessories
Somewhere to donate a microphone and speakers

Places for props, costumes etc etc

Money, we always need money to get these other things.

We'll be advertising them in the rule book, site and promotional material.

Oh, and it's looking like the game will be called Meridian
